1: Birsingha village is located in Ghatal Tehsil of Paschim Medinipur district in West Bengal. Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar was born in a Hindu Brahmin family to Thakurdas Bandyopadhyay and Bhagavati Devi at Birsingha village in the Ghatal subdivision of Paschim Midnapore District on 26 September 1820. It is situated 11.6km away from Ghatal Police Station & 11.6km away from Ghatal Central Bus Stand. Midnapur is the district headquarter of Birsingha village.
2: 11 km away from Chandrakona on the banks of river Shilabati, the land of red soil and sal forest, Garbeta is associated with the history of Layek revolt. 6 km away from Garbeta railway station on the bank of river Shilabati, is the red laterite soiled field of Gangani. According to history, the revolt was named as Layek revolt of Bagri or Paik revolt. Their leader, Sardar Achal Singh was hanged by the British. In summer days, the air becomes heated here. Hence, the name of the field is Gangani, i.e., heated.
3: Gopegarh, i believe very few people know about it.It's nice place to visit, and if you need can stay also. Now it is more a picnic spot than a staying place. Tourist who loves nature must visit this place and can have a one night stay having all facilities with AC room, good food and lovely nature.
4: Jagannath Mandir in Beside Puja Mall, Kharagpur is one of the top Temples in Beside Puja Mall, Kharagpur.
5: The Hijli Eco Park is one of the famous natural eco parks located at a distance of 12 kms from the centre of the city of Kharagpur, close to the world famous Indian Institute of Technology. The eco park is located just a kilometer away from Prem Bazar gate.

Across the boundary wall of Airabat Banabitan, the model forest Arabari Jungle was formed in 1972 with dense forest and hills spreading over 134 sq km. Elephants move about in the forest of akashmani, eucalyptus and sal trees. Trapping the wild elephant with the help of kunki, i.e. pet female elephant, is full of adventure and romance.
7: Jhargram, 181 km from Kolkata, Jhargram is the paradise of nature lovers with beautiful forests of sal, mahul, wild elephants, deer and birds. The ancient temples, royal palaces, folk tunes and tribal rhythms make it all the more attractive destination of tourists who love to discover the unknown and unaffected beauties of nature.
8: Belpahari, 35 km from Jhargram, is a major tourist destination in Midnapore District. It is a forest paradise under the Dolma Hills, located at a distance of 45 km from Jhargram. Foothills on Belpahari are thickly forested by a variety of tropical trees. Sal, Mahua, Piyal, Sonajhuri, Shirish and Eucalyptus are some of the common hardwood trees.
9: Parimal Kanon is a picnic spot. It is situated near Chandrokona Road Railway station and few km away from Kolkata.It is located about half km from Chandrakona Road railway station. The park is spread over 30 ha with small forests. There is rose garden, flower garden,Aviary, medicinal plants garden, arboretum, boating, Aquarium,children garden,toy train and picnic sheds.Two cottages(4beds),one dormitory (16beds),8 rooms(16beds) and one meeting hall(100 capacity)with parking facility available.
10: Sukumar Sengupta Smriti udyan is situated in Midnapore town near Medinipur railway station and Medinipur Central Bus stand.

Hemavathy Dam or Hemavathi Dam or the Gorur Dam is constructed across the river Hemavathy, an important tributary of the river Kaveri. The dam is located in Gorur, near the city of Hassan in Karnataka. Built in 1979, the reservoir has been serving multiple purposes of providing water supply for drinking and other purposes and for irrigation of the agricultural land of the land in Mandya, Mysore, Hassan and Tumkur.
Hemavathy Reservoir also know as Gorur Hemavathi Reservoir is spread across 2810 sq kms. The dams filling period is from June to September. The full reservoir level is 2922.00 ft. The hemavathy dam is 310 ft. high , with 6 radial gates. The Hemavathi river is one of the principal tributaries of Cauvery in Karnataka along with Harangi, , the Lakshmanathirtha, the Kabini, the Shimsha, the Arkavathi and the Suvarnavathy. All these rivers except the Kabini River, Arkavathy River and Suvarnavathy River rise and flow fully in Karnataka. Hemavathy Catchment area is spread across 5410 Sq.kms. In 2006 for the first time the reservoir was full after its construction. Hemavathy river originates in Ballarayana Durga in Western Ghats in Chikmagalur, at an altitude of 1219 meters and flows upto 245 kms. The river joins with its main tributary, Yagachi river, at Hassan, then flows on to join Cauvery near Krishnarajasagara.
The Shettihalli Rosary Church, which was submerged during the construction of the dam and can be seen only when the water in dam height is low during the summer months. The church was constructed by French Missionaries in the 1860s, and has a mighty and magnificent structure in the Gothic Architecture. In 1960, when the government decided to build the Hemavathi dam, the church was abandoned. When the water level is low, sometimes coracles are used to go inside the church.
Hassan is a town and the district headquarters of Hassan district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The town is situated 980 m above sea level. It is named after the Hasanamba temple. Hassan is 183 kilometres from Bangalore, 119 kilometres from Mysore, and 171 kilometres from Mangalore. Hassan Tourism also offers many other famous Places to visit in Hassan such as the ancient stone carved temples of Hoysala empire, Chennakeshava Temple at Belur , Hoysaleswara temple, a 12th-century temple at Halebidu also known as Halebidu Temple , Chandragiri Hill, Manjarabad Fort, Bhagawan Bahubali Monolithic Idol , carved circa 981 A.D.at Shravanabelagola , Ishvara Temple of 1220 CE during the rule of Hoysala Empire at Arasikere , Kedareshwar Temple at Halebidu , Hulikere Tank and many more.
Tourist attractions near Hemavathy Dam include Shettihalli Church, Bisle Ghat or Bisle Reserve Forest, Veeranarayana Temple, Ramanathpura located on the banks of river Cauvery, this holy town has a number of revered temples including the famous Rameshwara temple, Mosale is famous for the Hoysala temples of Chennakeshava and Nageshwara. The Chennakeshava temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu while the Nageshwara temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Hemavathi dam is built on Hemavathi river at a small town called Gorur in the district of Hassan Karnataka. Renowned Kannada writer Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar is from this town.
This is the best time to visit dams in Karnataka as due to the high rains all the reservoir levels in Karnataka are to the maximum level. Hassan tourism is booming due to the recent rains. There are many places near Hassan and in the close vicinity of Hemavathi dam like Yagachi dam, Hemavathi temple, Shettihalli church Hassan, and Hasanamba temple. Shettihalli ( Shettyhalli ) is famous for Shettihalli Rosary Church it is also called as Hassan Shettihalli Church or at times even Hassan Church.
Hassan places to visit also includes Hasanamba temple timings which is opened once for a week in a year for devotees.
If you plan to stay, there are many resorts in Hassan like Rappa resort also one can camp at Shettihalli church at Hemavathi backwaters. Also, there are many decent hotels in Hassan for a night stay.
By road Mysore to Hassan is 120 kms while going back Hassan to Mysore one can visit KRS dam which is also a treat to the eyes. Also, Mysore to Hassan train is available. Train timings from Hassan to Bangalore frequency is not good so people traveling from Bangalore, road travel is recommended.
