Nyon, Switzerland, home of UEFA
Nyon, a town with a population of almost 20,000, lies on the shore of Lake Geneva, about 25km (15 miles) from the city of the same name. Geneva is sometimes said by careless sports journalists to be the home of UEFA – in fact the headquarters of European football’s governing body are here in Nyon.
My short film takes a look at the town, with its castle and surviving Roman columns, as well as the more modern, clean and tidy streets and public park. You can see how popular the lakefront is, where people come to sunbathe or just enjoy the fresh air and long views. As the film shows, water transport is significant in these lakeside Swiss towns, and paddle steamers and smaller passenger craft are useful to tourists and locals alike. UEFA’s modern building is not welcoming, but I have done my best to film it from the outside at least.

Nyon Switzerland ???????? Tour
Come with us and discover Nyon in Switzerland. Nyon is a municipality in Nyon District in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is located some 25 kilometers north east of Geneva's city centre. Nyon is famous in the sporting world for being the headquarters of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the European Club Association (ECA). The draws for the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League are held in Nyon.
Nyon Castle is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. The Castle is first mentioned in 1272, but probably dates back to the Lords of Prangins. It was rebuilt by Ludwig I of Savoy. The rectangular building was built in a variety of building styles. In 1463, it was extensively rebuilt. Following the Swiss Confederation invasion of Vaud in 1530, the Bernese bailiff was at Nyon. In 1574-80 the castle was converted into the seat of the bailiff. It remained the seat of the bailiff and was renovated several times in the following centuries.

Today's drive takes place in the City of Geneva.
Check out the City of Geneva which is getting ready to host the international summit meeting between President Biden and President Putin.
Geneva:
Geneva is the second-most populous city in Switzerland (after Zürich) and the most populous city of Romandy, the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Situated where the Rhône exits Lake Léman, it is the capital of the Republic and Canton of Geneva.
The municipality (ville de Genève) has a population (as of December 2019) of 203,951, and the canton (essentially the city and its inner-ring suburbs) has 504,128 residents. In 2014, the compact agglomération du Grand Genève had 946,000 inhabitants in 212 communities in both Switzerland and France. Within Swiss territory, the commuter area named Métropole lémanique contains a population of 1.26 million. This area is essentially spread east from Geneva towards the Riviera area (Vevey, Montreux) and north-east towards Yverdon-les-Bains, in the neighboring canton of Vaud.
Geneva is a global city, a financial centre, and a worldwide centre for diplomacy due to the presence of numerous international organizations, including the headquarters of many agencies of the United Nations and the Red Cross. Geneva hosts the highest number of international organizations in the world. It is also where the Geneva Conventions were signed, which chiefly concern the treatment of wartime non-combatants and prisoners of war. Together with, for instance, New York City (global headquarters of the UN), Basel (Bank for International Settlements), and Strasbourg (Council of Europe), Geneva is a city serving as the headquarters of one of the most important international organizations, without being the capital of a country.
In 2021, Geneva was ranked as the world's ninth most important financial centre for competitiveness by the Global Financial Centres Index, fifth in Europe behind London, Zürich, Frankfurt and Luxembourg. In 2019, Geneva was ranked among the ten most livable cities in the world by Mercer together with Zürich and Basel. The city has been referred to as the world's most compact metropolis and the Peace Capital. In 2019, Mercer ranked Geneva as the thirteenth most expensive city in the world. In a UBS ranking of global cities in 2018, Geneva was ranked first for gross earnings, second most expensive, and fourth in purchasing power.
