In questo quarto video assisteremo al viaggio da Luino a Bellinzona passando per Giubiasco con la stupenda locomotiva a vapore DRG BR50.3673 (1941). Buona visione!
Special event organized on the occasion of the 20 years of the Verbano Express Association during which a special train was organized on the Luino-Biasca-Luino route pulled by the beautiful BR50-3673 steam locomotive while in the Bellinzona-Biasca section we will see a pleasant parallel with the special train organized by the Swiss Classic Train drawn by the spectacular 141 R 568. In this fourth video we will see the journey from Luino to Bellinzona passing through Giubiasco with the wonderful steam locomotive DRG BR50.3673 (1941). Good vision!

A look around S. Antonino and Giubiasco (CH)
We take a look around the stations of S. Antonino and Giubiasco in Ticino, Switzerland and watch some trains go by.
Giubiasco is the last stop before the Ceneri pass and the soon to be opened Ceneri base tunnel. Lots of intercity and freight trains pass through without stopping, but there are also many regional and regional express trains that call at Giubiasco.

This is the last video of my tour that I want to add to my collection and to share with you all. This video is a mixture of some colourful places that I visited in Brussels and Switzerland. First you will see an amazing scenic view near Interlaken which is also famous for some movie sets. After that you will see Lake Zurich and the surrounding area. There were lots of birds and swans with boats in the lake which looked really beautiful. You can also see some mountains with ice caps at a distance. The gliding in the Interlaken city centre was also really spectacular. Next you will see at 3.03 mins the Atomium in Brussels which was indeed very special and unique to see.
At the end you can see a mixture of photos of Interlaken, Zurich and Geneva. The Broken Chair monument, the Flower Clock for all seasons and the United Nations in Geneva is a special attraction. The Lion monument and the spectacular wooden bridge is a must see venue in Lucerne. The worlds biggest roundabout was also so intriguing in Paris.

The Broken Chair Genewa

Across from United Nations European Headquarters at the Palais de Nations in Geneva, Switzerland sits a poignant memorial to victims of landmines and cluster bombs. The Broken Chair monument which stands 12 metres high, was designed by renowned sculptor Daniel Berset in 1997 at the request of Handicap International ...
This image has been around the world and is now regarded as one of the most iconic pieces of 21st century art. Its message is simple: remember the plight of landmine victims and encourage States to commit themselves to the prohibition of cluster munitions. To illustrate this battle, the Broken Chair has only three legs with the fourth being broken halfway up. Despite this, it stands tall and proud and, with a height of 12 metres, is impressive in its dignity.

Geneva is recognized all around the world for it's watch making tradition, being the mother of high-end watchmaking. To pay tribute to this honor, Geneva created the biggest clock in the world, made from flowers.
Geneva Flower Clock, named L'horloge fleurie in French, created in 1955, soon became world famous, one of the main attraction of the city.
Interestingly, clock always look different, as they are made of various flowers which bloom in different times in the year..
Two days panoramic hiking trip through Ticino on Route 52
At the end of June last year we decided to go on a 2-day weekend trip in Ticino (Tessin) to hike from Giubiasco to Lugano via Route 2 (Trans Swiss Trail) and Route 52 (Sentiero Lago di Lugano). Ticino is known for its warmer climate and tree covered mountain landscapes. It was an amazing experience to see both sunset and sunrise right at the border between Switzerland and Italy, just about 10km north of Lago di Lugano overseeing Lago di Como in the east. The hike can be done between June and September. October is likely possible as well but expect to get yourself some warmer clothes and sleeping bag... Also take into account that the route is sometimes closed over the weekend due to military exercises, read more about that in the article below.

Lugano, in the Ticino district of southern Switzerland on the shores of Lake Lugano, has both a medieval and Mediterranean feeling that you will discover in our in-depth visit, which also brings you to the lakefront villages of Gandria and Morcote.

We go by train, boat, on foot and funicolare to show you many great sites including Swiss Miniatur, with small models of Swiss buildings in a park setting, and the Alprose chocolate factory.
The historic center of Lugano is famous for arcades that line both sides of the street forming covered sidewalk areas with a calm and sheltered environment, protecting you from the rain and sun.
This style of columns and arches is reminiscent of Italian architecture -- after all, we are right next to Italy here in Lugano and you also see that feeling of Italy in the piazza, the big open square. The language is Italian and so is much of the lifestyle here in Ticino, which enjoys a magical blend of two cultures, with Swiss efficiency and Italian charm.
You will love how well the pedestrian zone works – peaceful streets with people walking here and there. It is so friendly and sociable, makes for a great atmosphere.
We really enjoyed stopping at this famous gourmet food shop, Gabbani, in business here since 1937 and they've really branched out – they've got a wine shop, a cheese shop, and they even run a small hotel that's ranked number three on Trip Advisor.
This area is also world famous for its chocolates. In fact there's a chocolate factory just outside the city we visit, the Alprose, and you will see how they make their chocolates.
Another feature that makes Lugano so attractive are the hillside streets. It's just so much more interesting than being in a flatland town. They've got staircase streets, they've got gently sloping streets, and it's all for pedestrians. It's a small part of town. It's a section which is goes up the hill alongside the funicular, but it really is a lot of fun to check it out. Some of the restaurants put tables out on the staircase streets. That would be a fine place to eat on a nice day. And even though it's a little bit of work to walk up the steps, it's a very popular retail center.
It's a kind of backbeat neighborhood with some quirky little boutiques and unique shops and artists and craftspeople. You'll run into some real characters here. Custom-made clothing and jewelry a whole variety of fun things to look at.
It's the kind of neighborhood that would be very easy to mess, or you might be easily discouraged if you get to the foot of one of those hills and look up and think oh, no, I don't want to walk up that hill. But really it's not difficult at all. The slope is very gradual – you walk up, you walk down.
We’re also going to take you on a scenic boat ride from Lugano to Gandria, just five miles away. On a day like this it's perfect to sit up on the outdoor deck, or you could sit down below inside. It's very comfortable there as well. We're traveling in the month of May in Switzerland and it's warm and sunny especially because we're in the southern part of the country.
Gandria is truly a magical little village, clinging to the hillside along the shores of Lake Lugano. We will be getting off here and taking a little stroll through the village and finding it is a pedestrian zone. Cars are not allowed in the village itself because the lanes are just much too narrow and steep.
As soon as you get off the boat you can start exploring as we wind our way around these narrow lanes, and bends and turns and twists and discovering – always fun to explore someplace new for the first time.

We will bring you to Lucerne and up to Mount Titlis, Mount Rigi, over to Interlaken, up to the Jungfrau. We will see the Shilthorn, Lauterbrunnen Valley, Trummelbach Falls, Grindelwald, Bern, then on to Zermatt, the Matterhorn, yes we will have a look at the Gornergrat, up the Sunnegga, do some hiking, show you the village then on down to Lugano and Locarno in the southern part of Switzerland, the Ticino we also take you to the great city of Zürich. Weiter geht es am Ufer von Ascona mit seiner idyllischen Uferpromenade. Mit einer Seilbahn gelangt man auf den Cardada von wo aus man eine wunderschöne Aussicht auf den Lago Maggiore.
Tag zwei der Reise beginnt in einem der schönsten Dörfer der Schweiz, Morcote. Das Finale findet auf dem Monte San Giorgio statt mit einem Ausblick auf Lugano.

Noi, per questioni di tempo, abbiamo visitato solo il Castelgrande.
Castelgrande, noto anche come Castel Vecchio, Castello di San Michele o Castello d’Uri, sorge sopra la collina rocciosa di San Michele, e da lì domina tutta la città.
A Castelgrande avrete la possibilità di visitare la corte del castello, la Torre Nera , la Torre Bianca e le due fila di mura merlate.
Il Castello, inoltre, ospita un bellissimo museo che racconta la storia della città di Bellinzona e delle sue tre fortezze.
Il castello è a libero accesso: solo i musei ed alcune aree sono a pagamento.
Se volete visitare il Castello, ci sono diversi modi per arrivarci: potete andare a piedi, salendo da Piazza della Collegiata, oppure con un comodo ascensore dalla Piazzetta Della Valle.
Dal Castel grande è possibile vedere anche gli altri due castelli di Bellinzona, quello di Montebello e quello di Sasso Corbaro i quali conferiscono alla città il titolo di città dei tre Castelli.

The train stops in following railway stations: Zug, Arth-Goldau, Schwyz, Brunnen, Flüelen, Altdorf, Erstfeld, Göschenen, Airolo, Ambri-Piotta, Faiso, Lavorgo, Bodio, Biasca, Castione-Arbedo, Bellinzona, Giubiasco, Cadenazzo, Tenero.
The Treno Gottardo travels through the old Gotthard rail tunnel (15 km long) from 1882. It is a scenic route but slower than the Intercity trains, which use the new Gotthard base tunnel (opened 2016).
The Traverso train is operated by Schweizerische Südostbahn in cooperation with SBB. There are two bistro areas in the train.
