Wat is er te doen en te zien in Breda, Nederland? [SUB] Bezienswaardigheden | OEPITHAI
Breda, parel van het zuiden genoemd,
moet het vooral van haar uiterlijk en geschiedenis hebben.
Het is duidelijk een historische stad met een rijke geschiedenis.
Wat veel mensen niet weten is dat Breda ook een koninklijke stad is, misschien nog wel meer dan Apeldoorn, Soestdijk en Den Haag.
Breda is namelijk de stad van de Vader des Vaderlands,
Willem van Oranje.
Hij is hier opgegroeid en door het overlijden van zijn vader werd Willem van Oranje op 11 jarige leeftijd Prins van Oranje en grootgrondbezitter.
Zijn eerste vrouw Anna van Egmond en zijn oudste dochter Maria van Nassau liggen begraven in de ‘Grote Kerk’ in Breda.
Aanvankelijk zou ook Willem van Oranje begraven worden in de ‘Grote Kerk’ van Breda,
was het niet dat de stad in handen was van het vijandige Spaanse Rijk op het moment dat Willem van Oranje werd vermoord.
Noodgedwongen werd daardoor gekozen voor Delft.
Het kasteel ‘Bouvigne’, oorspronkelijk ‘De Boeverie’ genaamd, en was lange tijd in bezit van de Prinsen van Oranje.
Aangekocht door de zoon van Willem van Oranje, Filips Willem.
In 1881 werd het eigendom van de staat en heden in gebruik door het Waterschap Brabantse Delta.
Ginneken is een wijk van Breda met een zeer oude geschiedenis die begint in de Romeinse tijd en was tot 1942 een apart dorp in het dal van het riviertje ‘De Mark’.
Rond 1900 was Ginneken een toeristische plaats naast het ‘Mastbos’ en kasteel ‘Bouvigne’ waar men veel pensions en hotels aantrof.
Het centrale deel van Ginneken is een beschermd stadsgezicht.
Breda heeft een sfeervol historisch centrum met vele doorkijkjes, pleintjes, smalle straatjes en binnenplaatsen.
De Waalse Kerk uit 1440 en grenst aan het Begijnhof.
Het Begijnhof is een van de toeristische bezienswaardigheden van Breda en verreweg het mooiste Begijnhof van Nederland.
Begijnen waren alleenstaande vrouwen en weduwen, veelal van adel, die vanaf de 12e eeuw alleen of in kleine groepen leefden.
Hun leven was religieus ingericht maar had meer persoonlijke vrijheden dan het leven in de kloosterorden.
Begijnhoven waren altijd ommuurd en tussen zonsondergang en zonsopgang van de buitenwereld afgesloten.
Op de binnenplaats bevind zich een kruidentuin, een aantal waterpompen en een kleine kerk.
Het oorspronkelijke middeleeuwse Begijnhof stond naast het huidige Kasteelplein en moest in het jaar 1535 wijken omdat het kasteel werd uitgebreid tot een renaissancepaleis.
In de middeleeuwen waren er duizenden Begijnen verspreid over heel West-europa, van Scandinavië tot in Spanje.
Het Begijnhof van Breda is een bijzondere, des te meer omdat ze onder persoonlijke bescherming stond van de familie Van Oranje-Nassau.
Dat Breda een rijke historie heeft is te zien aan de vele grote prachtige oude huizen die in de stad te vinden zijn.
Het kasteel van Breda, je kunt er niet omheen.
Prominent aanwezig in het centrum van de stad.
Lange tijd het paleis van de familie Van Oranje-Nassau en sinds 1826 ter beschikking gesteld aan de Koninklijke Militaire Academie.
Het is doorgaans niet voor publiek toegankelijk.
In het Koningin Wilhelmina Paviljoen zijn exposities te zien over de historie van de KMA.
Het zou de gemeente Breda en de KMA sieren als er nieuwe mogelijkheden gecreëerd zouden worden om het kasteel te bezoeken.
Het kasteel heeft toch een bijzondere plaats in onze nationale geschiedenis.
Wat mij betreft is dit voor de stad Breda een gemiste kans.
Breda is een bourgondische stad met veel horeca gelegenheden.
De Grote Kerk waar enkele voorouders van onze Koning zijn begraven is zeker een bezoek waard.
Normaliter dagelijks geopend maar helaas op de dag van deze opname was de kerk gesloten voor filmopnames notabene.
Het centrum van Breda is uitermate geschikt om een middag te winkelen.
De Sint Antonius kathedraal van het Bisdom van Breda is de enige katholieke kerk in het oude centrum.
Breng ook een bezoek aan het Stedelijk Museum van Breda en leer alles over de historie van de stad.

The World's Most Complex Enclave Puzzle
Baarle-Nassau
is a municipality and a town in the Southern Netherlands, located in North Brabant province. The municipality has 6,876 inhabitants in1 August 2020, and covers an area of 76.36 km² of which 0.02 km² of water. In 2006, 174 inhabitants of Baarle-Nassau had Belgian nationality.
The town is best known for being a peculiar borderline between Belgium and Netherlands.
Together with the Belgian municipality of Baarle-Hertog, Baarle-Nassau forms the Kempen village of Baarle. The territory of both municipalities is particularly mixed up in the core of Baarle. There are 22 exclaves of Baarle-Hertog in Baarle-Nassau and eight exclaves of Baarle-Nassau in Baarle-Hertog. Some of these Dutch exclaves are again enclaves within the Belgian enclaves in the Netherlands.
Baarle-Nassau had two stations, which were part of the Bels line. One in the village itself and one near the Baarle-Nassau Border.
In 1403, the German count Engelbrecht I of Nassau-Siegen married Johanna van Polanen the daughter of the Lord of Breda Jan III of Polanen. According to then law, he became Lord of Breda. With him, the name of Nassau not only ends up in the Dutch Royal Family but also the name is given to the Dutch territories of Baarle. All the Baarle territory outside the Hertogse enclaves belong to Baarle-Nassau since that time.
The reclassification plans for Baarle-Nassau began in 1991. Due to the planned municipal redistricting in the province of North Brabant, the municipalities of Alphen and Riel, Baarle-Nassau, Chaam and Nieuw-Ginneken took the initiative in 1991 to investigate the possibilities of forming one large municipality together. After the reports were published, Baarle-Nassau dropped out and proposed an ABC variant consisting of Alphen and Riel, Baarle-Nassau and Chaam, thus without the municipality of Nieuw Ginneken.
When, in May 1992, the plans for the reclassification of Central Brabant become known, to everyone's surprise, the Baarle-Nassau area will also be involved in this, although it actually belongs to West Brabant. On 15 February 1993, Jan Houben, chairman of the CDA-statengroep in North Brabant,during an information evening on the municipal redistricting in the Breda City Region, suggested that the enclave situation in Baarle could best be lifted so that one Baarle could join the Great Green Municipality.
On 8 July 1993, the Member States of North Brabant will announce their final proposal for the reclassification of the Breda City Region. To the surprise of many, a new municipality of Baarle-Nassau is proposed, consisting of the municipalities of Baarle-Nassau and Chaam and the cores Of Alphen, Galder and Strijbeek. Ulvenhout and Bavel do not go to Baarle-Nassau, but are joined by the city of Breda. The new municipality of Baarle-Nassau will have 14,800 inhabitants in this form.
The Dutch Parliament decided in 1996 to leave Baarle-Nassau independent and thus to keep out of the redistricting process in North Brabant.

The castle in Wijchen shown by 204 photos, with photos of details, the courtyard, the museum during the day of admission free , the castle garden and environment in the autumn and the castle in the evening with lighting. Every year in July almost 40.000 people are passing by this castle at the 4Days marches of Nijmegen ; now you get the opportunity to see more of this beautiful castle.
In the Castle there are the Council Chamber and a wedding room on the ground floor. The first floor is less in use and on the 2nd floor you will found the museum with a fixed and a changing collection of archaeological finds from Wijchen. In addition, there are exhibitions of contemporary art.
In 1392 the first mention is made of a castle in Wijchen, but it is unclear whether it was at the same location. At the location of this castle, Herman van Bronckhorst-Batenburg bought a ruin of a castle in 1535 In 1609 Princess Emilia, daughter of Prince William of Orange did buy the Castle and completed it. Emilia of Nassau was married to Don Emanuel of Portugal and the marriage was dissolved in 1925. Emilia died in 1926 in Switzerland.
In 1940, the castle was sold to Philip of Nassau, Lord of Grimhuizen bij Ginneken. The castle was inherited by the family van Oostrum and later on it came in the possession of the family Perceval and later again of the familyVan Swansbel. In 1771 it was in the possession of the family d'Osy. In 1863, the Castle was auctioned and bought by baron J.J.R. d'Osy. In 1903 the Lady A.W. van Andringa Kempenaer from the Hague was the owner. In the night of 5 on 6 december 1906 the castle was totally burned down caused by a chimney fire. Only the walls were still standing. At the urging of Jhr. Mr. Victor de Stuers the owner has rebuild the Castle under the management of architect A. Ludeweg from Nijmegen.
The rebuilding happened from 1907-1908. In 1926 the two cousins of the Lady, A.E. and R.C. Humalda van Eijsinga got the Castle by inheritance. In 1932 it was sold to the municipality of Wijchen. After restoration under the managment of IR. J.G. Deur the castle was taken in use in 1933 as Council House . That continues until 1981. Between 1933 and 1988 the Emilia-Gallery, located above the entrance, was inhabited by the fam. van Densen, Mr. van Densen was a well-known constable in those years. In 1995 a major restoration took place again and this time it was far-reaching. All the wooden major joists are replaced by steel and all wooden floor constructions by concrete. The visible outside is made in wood again, you can't see the difference if you don't know these facts. It is a fire safe Castle now with preservation of the original character. There are new modern toilet facilities in the basement, a lift to the museum at the 2nd floor and a glass wall to the open gallery in the courtyard to create a foyer , named: d'Osy galerij.(for many years this was the place for put away the bicycles of the officials)

Wandelen Vught / Den Bosch over het natuurgebied Bossche Broek
Wandeling van bijna 8 km van Vught langs Den Bosch en terug via de Bossche Broek naar Vught.

Tot 1629 was het Bossche Broek een moeras, dat in tijden van oorlog een natuurlijke verdediging vormde voor de stad 's-Hertogenbosch. Hierdoor slaagden verschillende belegeraars er niet in om de stad in te nemen en verkreeg de stad de bijnaam de onoverwinnelijke moerasdraak. In opdracht van prins Frederik Hendrik van Oranje werd het moeras voor het beleg van 1629 met behulp van dijkenstelsels en rosmolens leeggepompt zodat de Staatse soldaten de Bossche zuidwal konden bestormen en de stad innemen.
In de jaren 40 van de twintigste eeuw was de gemeente van plan om het gebied te bebouwen. Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog was er een plan om hier een nieuwe stadsschouwburg te bouwen. Het bestaande theater was namelijk in de oorlog flink beschadigd en restauratie was net zo moeilijk en kostbaar als nieuwbouw.
Natuurbeschermers, verenigd in de Contact-Commissie voor Natuur- en Landschapsbescherming, in het bijzonder Roel J. Benthem ijverden echter voor het behoud van dit gebied. In 1954 heeft het gemeentebestuur, mede op aandringen van het gemeentebestuur van Vught, besloten om het gebied te laten zoals het was.

De negen overgebleven bekende pelgrims trekken door naar het noorden van Ethiopië naar Aksum. De stad van waaruit volgens de legende de beroemde maar mysterieuze koningin van Sheba haar rijk bestuurde. Er zijn nog steeds enorme pilaren te zien die stammen uit het glorieuze verleden van deze plaats. En die pilaren worden bepalend voor het lot van onze pelgrims. Voor één pelgrim betekent de kennismaking met de rijke gescheidenis van Aksum het einde van de reis.
Avontuurlijk spelprogramma waarin 10 bekende Nederlanders in de voetsporen treden van de Bijbelse Koningin van Sheba. Ze maken een pelgrimstocht van Ethiopië naar Jeruzalem. De winnaar krijgt 10.000 euro die hij of zij mag schenken aan een zelf gekozen goed doel.
