We're in what is considered Sicily's most beautiful town, Taormina. Everyone told us to come here. Taormina is a town perched on top of a cliff overlooking the Ionian sea and considered a must-visit when in Sicily, Italy.
We start our day exploring the gorgeous hill-top town and get the best Sicilian breakfast, a Granita. We go for one coffee and one lemon.
Afterwards we head the gardens called Villa Comunale di Taormina, where it's very quiet and perfect for escaping the busy streets, and also has amazing views.
We then explore the very busy streets and also try to get off the main path into the quieter streets and alleyways.
We eventually make our way to the Ancient Theatre of Taormina. Earlier in the day there was a long line up but later in the day it's much quieter.
We're hungry again after exploring the theatre and decide to get another famous Sicilian snack since it's one of our last days in Sicily. We grab two Arancini.
Lastly we take you on a tour of our hotel called Grand Hotel Miramare. Hotels in Taormina are extremely expensive but this one wasn't too bad (although still a splurge for us). We show our room and then the pool area.

We start in Catania, head south to the province of Siracusa and Ortigia, Noto, Marzamemi and other smaller towns. This area has the best beaches of the East coast. We also go to Ragusa and Modica. Why are ALL the BEACHES LIKE THIS in SICILY, Italy? ???????? Welcome to Giardini Naxos
We're having a beach day in Sicily! We're in the beach town of Giardini Naxos and spending the day at the beach.
One thing we've noticed about Sicilian and Italian beaches is that the main beaches seems to be almost entirely taken up by beach chairs and beach clubs and in high season are absolutely packed with people. We haven't seen this much in the rest of the world.
We spend the day at the beach and rent chairs for 25 Euro (2 chairs and an umbrella) at a beach club called La Nike Beach. We take a swim in the Mediterranean and enjoy the day relaxing.
Later we take you back to the small apartment we rented to give a tour.

Lastly we head out to dinner to try some Sicilian style pastas we haven't had yet. We went to a place called la Trinacria where we had Pasta alla Norma and Pesto di Pistacchio.

Alternatively, visitors can take a train or bus from Catania to the Taormina-Giardini train or bus station, which are located in the center of Gardini Naxos. There are also several bus companies that run routes between Catania and Gardini Naxos, with a journey time of around 45 minutes.
The best time to visit Gardini Naxos is from April to June and from September to November, when the weather is mild and the crowds are smaller. July and August can be very hot and crowded, so if you are visiting during these months, be sure to plan your itinerary accordingly.
