Ghatshila is a town in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, India. The city is located on the bank of the River Subarnarekha (the word ‘Subarnarekha’ means golden streak), and is situated in an undulating forested area. It has been a popular place frequented mostly by people from West Bengal, who have been going there for a change of place and climate. The noted Bengali writer Bibhuti Bhusan Bandopadhyay of Pather Panchali fame was a resident of the city. Raja Dhaval Deb's built three temples dedicated to Goddess Rankini (an incarnation of Goddess Durga)one at Rajdoha, another at Jamshedpur and the third at Rhoinibera village near Ghatshila. On the northern fringe of Ghatshila town one can climb the peak of Fuldungri to get a view of rolling hills and green valleys fading into the horizon. According to the legend if seperated lovers pray here, they get their partners back. Visit Burudih lake next to a tribal village settlement of mud huts painted with vibrant motifs just 17 kms off Fuldungri.

Jamshedpur is a large city set between the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers in the east Indian state of Jharkhand. It’s known for huge, tree-lined Jubilee Park, where the Tata Steel Zoological Park has resident species including tigers and leopards. To the east, the hilltop Bhuvaneshwari Temple has an elaborate 5-story entrance tower. North of the city, elephants roam through the forests at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.

1. Jubilee Park :
One of the biggest parks in the country, the Jubilee Park is spread on a sprawling campus of 237.75 acres. The park was inaugurated in the year 1956 including lush green landscape, an amusement park, skating ring and a horticulture garden which contains a wide variety of plant species.
2. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary :
Located inside the Jubilee Park, the Tata Steel Zoological Park is an unkempt zoo which houses wildlife in its natural habitat. The park gives a respite to people with long and tiring jobs in the city and makes them see and experience nature and wildlife in their most pristine form.
3. Dalma Hills :
Located at the distance of 13 kms from the main city of Jamshedpur, Dalma hill is the famous tourist hotspot lies in the Jharkhand state of India. The exotic ranges of Dalma hill is situated at a height of 3000 feet above sea level. The destination is known for rich forest reserve, Asiatic elephants and a wildlife sanctuary. There is Subarnarekha River that swiftly flows through the Dalma Hills.
4. Dimna Lake :
Dimna Lake in Jamshedpur is an ideal place to spend your day if you feel like getting away from the city and spending a quiet day with your loved ones or friends. Situated at a mere distance of 13 km away from the Jamshedpur city area, it is close to the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. An artificial lake in the Steel City of Jamshedpur, it is located at the foothills of the Dalma mountain range and is famous for its serenity and pleasant greenery.
5. Sir Dorabji Tata Park :
Sir Dorabji Tata Park was built by Tata Steel and dedicated to RussiModi so this park was earlier called •Modi Parkê. Later it was named after Sir Dorabji Tata, son of Jamshedji Tata and a massive statue of Sir Dorabji Tata was installed in the park. The park boasts of well-maintained gardens, brilliant water fountains and gorgeous flower beds.
6. Russi Modi Centre of Excellence :
Located just outside of the Jubilee Park, the Russi Modi Centre for Excellence houses various professional organizations in Jamshedpur. The building was designed by Hafeez Contractor and is considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Jamshedpur.
The building was formerly designed as the Jubilee Park. It houses archives of Tata Steel, a brilliant representation of its journey to being one of the biggest and most successful industries in the world.
7. Jayanti Sarovar :
Jayanti Sarovar is a gorgeous lake in Jamshedpur city. Mostly used as a recreation spot, the lake mostly attracts tourists during winter months for rare and exotic birds migrate to the spot. Besides, the premises have an amusement park for kids replete with slides, skating rings etc. The lake also has water fountains and flower beds to accentuate the beauty.
8. Tata Steel Zoological Park :
Located inside the Jubilee Park, the Tata Steel Zoological Park is an unkempt zoo which houses wildlife in its natural habitat. The park gives a respite to people with long and tiring jobs in the city and makes them see and experience nature and wildlife in their most pristine form.
9. Tribal Culture Center :
Tribal Culture Centre is a popular tourist attraction in Jamshedpur which preserves the rich culture of the Santhal, Ho, Oraon, Munda and other tribes. The centre has huge sculptures of leaders of the freedom movement like Baba Tilka Majhi, Birsa Munda and Sidho-Kanhu. The gallery is lined with paintings and the inner repository has a variety of antiques and relics on display.
10. Bhatia Park :
Situated on the banks of Subarnekha River, Bhatia Park is a beautiful park with extremely wide space and lush greenery. It is highly maintained with well-laid out grass and flower beds and is the perfect place for weekend getaways and evening rejuvenation.
Situated nearby is a Chandi Baba Mandir which can be visited during evenings.

Burudih Lake is a great picnic spot at Ghatshila, Jharkhand, India. A beautiful natural lake surrounded by Dalma hil. The Burudih dam lies between two hilly ridges,
about 10km from Phuldungri in Ghatshila. This video was recorded in the month of January i.e. during winter so the water level at Burudih lake has has come down significantly. This video of Burudih Lake at Ghatshila, Jharkhand was captured during our picnic on 4th January, 2014.

On the shore of Subarnarekha River & surrounded by the isolated Mountains and Forests, it was Ghatshila which once treated as the best of health recovering place for Bangalis.
We start from Kharagpur by Tata Memu special. We have our hot Tea n Biscuits as breakfast. The train journey is quite different in this route. Most of the Stations are empty, with a long Gap between two stations. Our train is also running like a bullet.
By enjoying the train journey, we reach Ghatshila half at seven o'clock. It is a well decorated small station. It has an Auto stand with displaying the rate charts of different trips. After a bargain we choose our Auto-Rickshaw and started our journey for Ghatshila. Contact Number of Auto Rickshaw - +918271722694
It is a suggestion for all, to stay atleast one day at Ghatshila to cover the trip smoothly, if possible.

The best time to travel Ghatshila is Winter. Though one may visit during Rainy season but the road conditions are very bad for this season. One advice is to avoid the summer season as it will be an exhausting tour for anyone whoever is visiting Jharkhand at that time.
