In this video we would like to tell you a little about the best places to visit in Bulgaria as well as provide some tips on languages, currency, driving, parking, camping and shopping.
Bulgaria is a great country to visit and is a land of huge contrasts.
Some of the best places to visit in Bulgaria include Sofia, Plovdiv, Rila Monastery, Stob’s Pyramids, Kazanlak, Koprivshtitsa, Basarbovo Rock Monastery, Shipka and Veliko Tarnovo.
There are still at least 30 different languages in the EU and the main languages spoken in Bulgaria are Cyrillic, Bulgarian and Turkish.
There are around 13 different currencies in the EU and the Lev is the Bulgarian currency.
The capital and largest city is Sofia and the total population of Bulgaria is around 7 million people, however Bulgaria is projected to have the fastest-shrinking population in the world having already lost a fifth of its population since the 1990s.
Vignettes are required to travel on the roads - 15 Lev which is just over $12 AUD for a week for 3.5 ton and under.
The road between Haskovo and Plovdiv was so rough we could feel our teeth rattling.
One third of Bulgaria is covered with forests and 70% of the world’s rose oil comes from roses grown in Bulgaria.
When Bulgaria joined the EU on Jan 1 2007, their Cyrillic language became the 3rd official language of the EU.
Credit cards are accepted widely in Bulgaria, however, some vendors only accept Visa but not Mastercard, or vice versa.
There are different rules regarding “parking” and “camping” – many countries allow “overnight parking” as long as you don't camp there – the definition of “camping” is if you set up anything outside of your vehicle eg tables and chairs, and or BBQ, and or put up your sun awning and or position your vehicle on levelling ramps etc – then that is classified as camping.
Wild camping is prohibited but widely accepted in Bulgaria – if in doubt ask the police or the local council authority.
Bulgaria is a very inexpensive country to visit – you will receive very good value for money in Bulgaria.
The local people are very happy and friendly.

The map is located in the village Orgajden (Огражден) in municipality of General Toshevo -Northeastern Bulgaria.
Currently the map is damaged and abandoned, is located in the courtyard of the old school, now this place graze sheep and goats.
Also, the local gypsies, trying to break the map to steal
metal pipes under her. Most likely in Bulgaria there are only two such maps.
