परली वैजनाथ मंदिर का इतिहास | History Parli Vaijnath Temple | Jyotirlinga Maharashtra
Shri Vaijnath Temple (Marathi श्री वैजनाथ मंदिर ) is an ancient Shiva temple located at Parli Vaijnath in Beed district of Maharashtra, India. It is believed to be one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.
The temple is built on a hill using stones. Temple is approximately at a height of 75-80 feet from ground level. The main entrance is from the east and the magnificent door present there is brass plated. Surrounded by four strong walls, the temple consists of corridors and a courtyard. The main gate of the temple also called Mahadwar has a Minaret nearby called a Prachi or Gawaksha, i.e., window. The temple has a wide staircase to enter. The temple renovated by Shiva devotee Ahalyadevi Holkar in the year 1706
The Samudra Manthan was the churning of the Ocean of Milk and out came 14 ratnas, including Vish and Amrit.
When the Gods and Demons were churning the ocean and competing for the Divine Nectar or Amrit, fourteen gems emerged from the process. It included Dhanavantari and Amrit.
Just as the demons were about to pounce on the Amrit, Lord Vishnu grabbed both Dhanwantri and Amrit and hid them inside a Shiva Linga. The angered demons tried to break the Linga, but when they touched it bright light emanated. This scared the demons and they fled from the place.
Since this is the place where the Devas successfully received the Amrit, the village became popular as Vaijayanthi and therefore the temple as Parli Vaijnath.
Legend of Ravana and Shiva Linga
The demon King Ravana did severe penance and even cut off his heads to please Lord Shiva. Moved by his sacrifice, Lord Shiva offered several boons, and Ravana requested that Lord Shiva come to Lanka. The Lord accepted and instructed Ravana to carry his Shiva Linga and warned him not to keep it down anywhere till he reached his destination.
During the journey, Ravana wanted to take a break and instructed a shepherd to carry the Linga for a while. Unaware of the Lord’s instruction, the shepherd put the heavy Linga down for a brief moment. The Lord thus stayed there at the place and became popular as Vaidhyanath.

Parli Vaijnath is situated in Beed District. Swayambhu & Jagrit Sthan of Lord Sri Vaijnath, one of the twelve places of Jyotirling in India. PunyaShlok Rani AhilyaBai Holkar got this temple restored. The temple is humongous, built using large stones with mortarless style. The long steps leading up and a grand entrance are striking. The court hall and the inner sanctum are at the same level, allowing the view of the linga from the court hall (usually, the linga are built at a lower level than the court hall, and one has to step down into the inner sanctum). Unlike any other temple, everyone is allowed to touch the linga while paying obeisance at the Parli Vaijanath temple. There are three large Kunda in the premises of the temple There is a huge pillerless hall upon entrance constructed totally out of sagwan wood. The significance of this temple is that here God Shankar is residing with Goddess Parvati, so for pilgrims importance of this place is more than Kashi. The famous tale of Satyawan and Sawitri is also believed to be happened here.

A day trip to Sundi WaterFalls.
It is about 25-30 kms from Belgaum
Sundi is a village in Chandgad taluka in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra State.
Water falling from about 50 feet and the sight is awesome to see
Even small trekking can be done at this falls and could be covered as a day trip along with Vaijnath temple & Mahipalgad.
Best season to visit is Monsoons upto December

Stop your vehicles near the make shift Tea shop and take a Right turn into the fields.Walk for less than a km through the fields.
Go down the hill on a some what difficult terrain with stones to see Sundi Falls.

Kedareshwar Temple - Dharmapuri, Beed
Dharmapuri is located about 30 kms from Ambejogai in Beed District of Maharashtra State, India. At a short distance, to east of village stands an old temple called Kedareshwar. From it's architectural style, the temple belongs to the Eastern Chalukyan style of 11th and 12th century A.D. The temple consists of shrine, an antechamber and a square hall with three porches to the north, south, and east. The square sanctum of the contains a Shiva linga. The temple of Kedareshwar has lots of sculptures of Shiva, Vishnu, Sursundaris with different deities have been beautifully carved. Niches are adorned with Images of Vishnu, Narasimha & Keshava (At east, South & North direction). This temple is in poor condition and one can find a few panels from one of the destroyed walls near temple.
