Portugese Way - Galicia

The 610km Camino Portugues starts in the south of Portugal in the capital Lisbon, leading up to Porto, across the River Minho and into Galicia at the fortress town of Tui.

The video covers the stages between the Portuguese border and Santiago de Compostela. This route is regarded as a less arduous but no less beautiful walk than its famous French cousin. Following peaceful rivers and meandering through forgotten villages, pilgrims see Portugal through its vineyards, meadows, ranches and olive plantations. Interesting places en route include the ancient university city of Coimbra, Barcelos with its famous weekly market and the tranquil Roman town of Ponte de Lima. Frequent well-placed hostels give the walker great opportunities to not only sight-see but to sample delicious Portuguese food, such as salted cod and suckling pig, washed down with some of Portugal's fantastic wines. The route enters Galicia at Tui but there are other informal routes like the coastal route via La Guardia, Baiona and onto Vigo. The route via Tui heads to O Porriño followed by Redondela, Arcade,Pontevedra, Caldas do Rei,Padrón then onto Santiago.

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 Youtube videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. 10 Things to do in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago de Compostela is not just the final point of the Camino de Santiago, it is a fantastic place to explore, wandering around its alleys and stone-paved streets. As some Galicians say, Santiago is not a city, it is a 'big village'. The city population is just around the 100,000 mark but with nearly 50,000 students settling there for the academic year and thousands of pilgrims walking into town every year.

I think Santiago is a great city but I'm obviously biased. I lived in Santiago (or 'Compostela') for four years while studying at the city's University (one of the oldest in the world by the way.
10 things to do in Santiago de Compostela:

1-Cathedral

If you have walked all the way to Santiago de Compostela, your first stop is likely to be the Praza do Obradoiro with its imposing Cathedral, where the remains of Saint James are (allegedly) buried. The cathedral is Santiago's most famous building with a Romanesque structure and later Gothic and Baroque elements. At the Cathedral, check out the Pórtico da Gloria (the original Romanesque porch entrance by Mestre Mateo), the Botafumeiro (its giant thurible) and, if you are not scared of heights, ask to walk up to the Cathedral's rooftop to enjoy fantastic panoramic views of Santiago.

2-The Old Town

Santiago is divided in two main districts: the Old Town (Zona Vella) and the New Town (Zona Nova).

The Old Town with is winding granite streets, arches, squares and monuments has been an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Here you will find not only Romanesque and baroque churches, museums and some of the oldest University buildings but also many cosy cafes, traditional and contemporary restaurants, interesting shops and some of the best nightlife too!

3-Alameda Park

Take a breather at the Alameda, Santiago's most emblematic green space. Go for a stroll along the Paseo da Ferradura, get a nice tree-framed view of the Cathedral, sit by the statue of writer Valle Inclán or take a picture with the statue of 'As Marías', the two Fandiño sisters dressed in their colourful outfits. The sisters used to go for a walk in the Alameda every day at 2 o'clock on the dot. The Alameda park is also central point to many celebrations in Santiago's busy festival calendar.

4-'De Viños' -- Wine trail

Rúa do Franco goes all the way to the Obradoiro Square and takes its name after the French pilgrims that used to follow this street to get to the Cathedral. With adjacent Raíña, this is the most famous street to go out for a few drinks with friends. Many bars and restaurants along the Franco display their octopus, shellfish and other Galician delicacies on their windows (vegetarians beware!) and most offer a free bite with each drink: croquettes, tortilla or even tiger filet (not really tiger meat, by the way).

5-Museo das Peregrinacións

After walking to Santiago as a pilgrim, you should probably visit this museum, dedicated to the pilgrimage.

6-San Domingos de Bonaval Park

'Bonaval' for short, is another popular park in Santiago de Compostela. Bonaval sits on the grounds of a Dominican convent's old cemetery and has been re-invented into a secluded public green space by Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. Next to Bonaval you'll find two of Santiago's best museums: the CGAC (Galician Contemporary Art Centre) in a modern building also by Siza and the Museum of the Galician People (Museo do Pobo Galego) in the former convent.

7-Mercado de Abastos

9-Festas

Festas da Ascensión in May and Festas do Apóstolo in July are the main celebrations in Santiago, with outdoor concerts and many other events taking place, some of them free of charge. However, there are many more festivals in and around the different neighbourhoods in Santiago.

10-Try octopus

You can't leave Santiago (or Galicia) without trying the land's most iconic dish: octopus. The Galicians call it octopus fair style ('pulpo á feira') as it used to be a dish eaten on market day; while Spaniards like to call it octopus Galician style.

Countryside Portugal: Galegos - Trail of the Coffee Smuggling, 4K ASMR Trilho do Contrabando do Café

Walking in the nature is healing, and Portugal countryside can offer the best experiences ever - living in the countryside is one of the best things in life.
This walking tour explores one of the many medieval trails in the Marvão region of Alentejo, Portugal. It was originally used to travel between the villages of Galegos (Portugal) and La Fontañera (Spain), but in the 20th century it served as a way to smuggle coffee into Spain during the Portuguese dictatorship (1933-1974). The smugglers would bring back money and banned products in Portugal such as Coca-Cola.More info on this smuggling route below the route timestamps.

We start our Zen Walk in the outskirts of the village of Galegos, in the region of Marvão - Alentejo, and start walking towards the Spanish village of La Fontañera, where the Portuguese smugglers would sell their sacks of coffee. After a short walk in the Spanish side of the boarder, we will then reenter Portugal and go inside the house where the smugglers would wait for a clear way into Spain, evading the police.
We will then walk on a medieval trail - one of the many medieval stoned trails that can still be found in the region of Marvão.

----- Route of the Coffee Smuggling -----
----- Trilho do Contrabando do Café -----
During the Portuguese dictatorship (1933-1974), the coffee produced in Portugal could not be sold in Spain and, therefore, it was ruled that any attempt to sell it there would be punished with prison sentences.
For those who made their living from selling coffee, they found a way of smuggling it into the neighbouring country, escaping the close watch of the guards and carabinieri that patrolled the border.
From Marvão and the neighbouring villages, where at the time there were half a dozen roasting plants in activity, groups of brave men would set off at night in the direction of La Fontañera with sacks of raw coffee on their backs. From Spain, they brought money and all sorts of products that could be sold in the villages - cloth, porcelain and even Coca-Cola, prohibited in Portugal during the dictatorship, up until 1974.

Now it's the time we put in some keywords such as POV, virtual tour or the best virtual tours, that are part of the description of this video. This relaxing trail video is perfect for treadmill, but also perfect for relaxation and sleep. In fact, if you're on a treadmill, you may enjoy a relaxing feeling at the same time, although it's not desirable that a treadmill trail video can cause a deep sleep state by listening to the ASMR audio. The footsteps, in asmr, will be around you in 360 degrees, creating a very deep immersive experience. It's pure ASMR 3D audio, and the video is in 4K and filmed at 60fps, or 60 frames per second. The relaxing walking pace makes this treadmill video a relaxing experience, almost like a meditation. A good virtual treadmill walk is great for virtual walking exercise.

Aldeia de Galegos da Serra - Vilamarim, Vila Real
