In this video, we explore the intriguing region of Puntland, an arid area located in north-east Somalia. Puntland declared itself an autonomous state in August 1998, seeking to escape the clan warfare that plagued southern Somalia. Despite its relative stability, the region has faced armed conflicts and gained global attention due to a surge in pirate attacks on international shipping in the Indian Ocean.
Puntland has become a safe haven for many Somalis displaced by violence in the south, providing them with a new hope for a better life. Unlike its neighbor, breakaway Somaliland, Puntland aspires to be part of a unified federal Somalia rather than seeking independent recognition.
The name Puntland has historical significance, as it harks back to the ancient Land of Punt, a center of trade and mystery for the ancient Egyptians.
Despite having provisions for press freedom in its charter, Puntland has faced criticism for the detention of journalists and the closure of media outlets. Radio Puntland and Puntland TV are government-run channels, and while private broadcasters are allowed, there are currently no print newspapers published in the region.

NORTH GAALKACYO( Degmada Garsoor--- Garsoor District ), Puntland, Somalia
This is Northern Gaalkacyo City, in Mudug Region, Puntland State, Somalia.
Here in this Video we are waiting at the Galdogob Transit Stand, near the Main Gaalkacyo Souq(Market). This section of Gaalkacyo is Garsoor District.
Gaalkacyo is a large city, which is divided into several districts.
The Main districts of Gaalkacyo are:
a) Garsoor District in North Gaalkacyo -- inhabited by the Leelkase clan, of the Darood Tribe
b) Israac District in North Gaalkacyo-- inhabited by the Majerteen clan, of the Darood Tribe
c) and in Southern Gaalkacyo there is the Baraxleey District which is inhabited by the Sacad clan, of the Hawiye Tribe.

Galdogob city, sometimes spelled Goldogob is the second largest city in the Mudug Region of Central Somalia(Puntland).
Its approximately 12km away from the Ethiopian border, and 70km away from Gaalkacyo, the capital of Mudug region.
The Galdogob District has a population of about 140,000 people, while Goldogob city is estimated to be around 70,000 People.
The Song on the Background of the video is called Hawdkii Galdogob by Hussein Shire Jaamac a famous Somali American Entertainer and Song writer.
