Today we’re visiting a really cool city that’s full of contrasts. Leipzig is a place that offers a wonderful mix of lush green spaces with canals, gritty industrial areas that have been given new life, and a beautiful city centre that oozes history.
Over the course of our visit we got to see that Leipzig is a city of many faces, and a few locals even told us the city has earned the nickname 'hype-zig' because it feels like a younger up and coming version of Berlin.
So, with all of that in mind, in this video, we’ll be sharing some of the highlights from our visit. which include a fun food tour featuring everything from German baked goods to Southeast Asian street food. The city of Zwickau in eastern Germany has a long and varied history of car production and industrial design. Its story is told in the August Horch Museum – beginning with the production of Horch cars, to Audis, to the East German car, the Trabant. On her trip to Zwickau, Hannah Hummel discovers the city’s car history, as well as its art and cultural history. Both the composer Robert Schumann and the expressionist painter and printmaker Max Pechstein were born in Zwickau. This episode of Destination Culture also takes viewers to Schneeberg – a creative hub in Saxony, where students from around the world study fashion and textile design.

The trouble with the GREEN STICKER in Germany (Low Emission Zone) + Leipzig visit
In this video, we'll show you the trouble of getting the GREEN STICKER in Germany (Low Emission Zone). We'll also show you a visit to Leipzig, which is a great city to visit if you're looking for a beautiful and historic city to visit.
During our 3 week stay in Berlin, we decided to explore Leipzig as well, as one of the large cities that is only a couple of hours away from the capital.
But the first issue we ran into was the GREEN sticker (The low emission zone sticker). After watching this video, you'll be ready to go and enjoy your trip to Germany!
We didn't have it, and we had already driven to the center of Leipzig.
It was a much crazier day than it looked on camera, but this is how to get a sticker:
1. search for DEKRA offices on Google maps (they are outside of the city) and go there with your car's registration license. They are not opened on Sundays (some are open on Saturdays, but not all), and check the schedule, they might not be open all day, but it depends.
2. ask for the UMWELT zone sticker. In 2021, this was 7 Euros for a normal small car.
3. Stick it on your car's windshield, and you can now drive anywhere in Germany. Hope this will help you save time.

''Marienberg Fortress (German: Festung Marienberg) is a prominent landmark on the left bank of the Main river in Würzburg, in the Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. The mighty Fortress Marienberg is a symbol of Würzburg and served as a home of the local prince-bishops for nearly five centuries. It has been a fort since ancient times. Most of the current structures originally were built in Renaissance and Baroque styles between the 16th and 18th centuries. After Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden conquered the area in 1631 during the Thirty Years' War, the castle was reconstructed as a Baroque residence. After it ceased to serve as residence of the Bishops of Würzburg, the fortress saw repeated action in the wars of the late 18th and 19th centuries. Festung Marienberg was severely damaged by British bombs in March 1945 and only fully rebuilt in 1990. Today, it houses two museums.''
