Kärnten ist nicht nur das Land der tausend Seen, sondern auch das Land der Burgen und Schlösser. Insgesamt gibt es im gesamten Bundesland ca. 400 Festungen. Hier kann man sichtbar die Vergangenheit erleben.
Los geht’s an der Burg Hochosterwitz. Die Festung wurde im Jahr 860 erstmals erwähnt. Sie befindet sich in der Nähe von St. Georgen am Längsee auf einem ca. 150 m hohen Kalksteinfelsen. Sie zählt zu den wichtigsten Wahrzeichen Kärntens und ist eine der imposantesten Festungen Österreichs. Es gibt hier übrigens eine eigene Burghymne.
Wenn ihr hier seid, lohnt sich das Burgmuseum mit der Waffenkammer und ihr solltet unbedingt einen Blick in die Burgkapelle werfen. Darüber hinaus gibt es rund um die Burg ein großes Kulturprogramm mit Konzerten, Ritterfest und Ausstellungen.
Weiter geht’s mit der Burg Taggenbrunn. Die Burganlage liegt oberhalb der Herzogstadt St. Veit an der Glan. Die Wurzeln der Region Mittelkärnten gehen hier bis in die Römerzeit zurück. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde die Burg als Steinbruch zweckentfremdet und erst im Jahr 2019 feierlich neu eröffnet.
Somit gibt es hier auch einen neu errichteten Konzertsaal mit Überdachung und Innenhof. In diesem Gemäuern könnt ihr euch zahlreiche Konzerte und Aufführungen ansehen. Darüber hinaus solltet ihr euch unbedingt die André Heller Ausstellung ansehen und einen Abstecher zur „Zeitgöttin“ am Fuße der Burg unternehmen.
Die dritte Burg ist die Burg Petersberg in Friesach. Sie befindet sich auf einer natürlichen Anhöhe. Im 18. Jahrhundert ist die Burg verfallen, wurde dann aber wieder restauriert. Im Bergfried der Festung befindet sich das Stadtmuseum Friesach. Hier lohnt es sich, einen Blick hineinzuwerfen.
Inmitten der Mauern finden auch regelmäßig die Friesacher Burghofspiele statt. Dort werden dann unter anderem auch Klassiker von Shakespeare aufgeführt. Wenn ihr Glück habt, könnt ihr solch eine Vorführung unter dem Vollmond beobachten. Dann ist die Atmosphäre besonders spektakulär.
Nur drei Autominuten von der Burg entfernt, wird nach mittelalterlichen Methoden eine neue Burg gebaut. Dieses Freiluftexperiment solltet ihr euch auch unbedingt mal anschauen.
Burg Nummer vier befindet sich am Ossiacher See. Hier befindet sich das Stift Ossiach. Es ist das älteste Benediktinerstift Kärntens. Besonders sehenswert ist die stuckverzierte Barockkirche mit ihrem barocken Hochaltar. Ansonsten lohnt sich ein Blick in den Rittersaal oder in den Konzertsaal.
Auf dem Gelände befindet sich auch die Carinthische Musikakademie Stift Ossiach. Hier werden unter anderem auch Wettbewerbe ausgetragen und vor allem im Sommer finden hier viele musikalische Veranstaltungen statt.
Zu guter Letzt stellen wir euch das Schloss Porcia in Spittal vor. Es liegt direkt im Stadtpark und wurde im 16. Jahrhundert erbaut. Das Schloss sieht mit seinem Arkadenhof eher aus wie ein italienischer Palazzo. Damit ist es eines der schönsten Renaissancebauten im Alpenraum.
Hier werden die Komödienspiele Porcia aufgeführt, die zu den ältesten Sommerspielen Österreichs zählen. Sie werden direkt im Arkadenhof aufgeführt. Darüber hinaus ist die Galerie im alten Säulengewölbe des Schlosses sehr lohnenswert.

내가 프리자흐 마을을 찾은 가장 중요한 이유는 이곳을 방문하기 위해서였다. 전 세계 어느 곳에서도 없는 프로젝트가 이곳에서 진행되고 있기 때문이다. “2009년 4월부터 프리자흐에서 수제작 방식, 중세 제작 방식으로 중세 시대를 만들어보려 하고 있어요. 오늘날의 건물들과 구조들은 기본적으로 이런 건물들이 어떻게 건축되었는지 잘 설명하지 못하거든요” 일체 기계의 도움 없이 오직 사람의 힘으로만 성을 만들어야 하는 프로젝트. 정확히 모서리 부분을 15cm로 만들어야 해요” 작업자 한 명이 하루 꼬박 작업을 해도 성벽에 쓰일 돌 하나 다듬기가 어렵다고 한다. 산속의 또 다른 작업장, 대장장이와 목수들이 건설에 필요한 각종 도구들을 직접 만들고 있다. 이렇게 하나하나 만들어가며 하다 보니 성 만들 재료준비에만 10년이 걸렸다. 성의 완성까지는 대략 40-50년 정도 걸릴 것 같다는데 물론 그것도 그때 가봐야 안다고 한다. 이곳에 있으면 정말 중세시대에 살고 있는 것 같다. 지금은 그 당시 생필품을 만들고 있는 중인데 무엇을 만드는지 도저히 감이 오질 않는다. “이것은 부싯돌처럼 불꽃을 만드는 도구예요” “불꽃이요?” “네 이건 불꽃을 만드는 도구예요” “이렇게 시작하고 이건 반 정도 끝난 공정이에요. 이렇게 되면 공정이 완전히 끝난 상태예요. 이렇게 불꽃을 만들어요” 근처 목공소도 분주하게 돌아간다. 작업장을 하나 더 만들 계획이라는데 진짜 도끼로 패고, 톱으로 자르고, 칼로 다듬는 100% 수제작이다. “지붕에 올릴 나무를 손질하고 있어요. 지붕널 손질이요. 물이 잘 흘러 내려가게 하기 위해서 이 작업을 하는 거예요” 힘들지만 몸으로 부딪히며 중세를 탐구하고 이해하려는 사람들. 그들의 모습을 보니 나무와 돌 하나하나를 허투루 볼 수가 없다.

The Maria Saal Open Air Museum is situated in the heart of Carinthia. In this richly cultural and historic area various traditional farm buildings from all over Carinthia have been reconstructed. Klagenfurt is the administrative centre of Carinthia: a middle class garden city that does not contain the fine buildings of the aristocracy but has a good helping of southern flair and, due to the nearby Wörthersee, is a marvellous summer resort. The Grossglockner High Alps road travels through one of the greatest natural landscapes in the world, the Hohe Tauern National Park, a remarkable mountain world in which nature is at its most glorious.

In the southernmost province of Austria, hidden in a valley, is the village of Gurk that boasts one of the most important Romanesque buildings in Europe. When Wilhelm The Second died, he left his wife, Countess Hemma Of Friesach, many fiefdoms, making her one of the richest women of her time. She had a church and women’s monastery built in Gurk on a site that in Pre-Christian times contained a temple.
The side walls are decorated with magnificent wall paintings that date from 1340, with an extensive juxtaposition of scenes from both the Old and New Testaments. These Gothic frescoes tell the story of the bible in a lively visual language, each one in the style of the Middle Ages, in order to vividly illustrate the contents. The sacred building overwhelms with its many altars in a characteristic black and gold setting.
Beauty, size and age enchant with a biblical flood of images. Covering eighty nine square metres there are a hundred and eight themes in ninety nine illustrated sections.
The high altar fascinates the viewer with its fifteen metres of height and seven and a half metres width, a masterpiece by Michael Hönel from Saxony.
The most magnificent side altar of the crypt is the altar of Mary, in the northern side corridor. The reason for the construction of this monumental crypt was meant
to represent an important centre of pilgrimage.
Only after 1626 did the need for Baroque renewal arise. Thus both emotion and theatricality came to the fore. It was not until 1850 that numerous old paintings were rediscovered.
Gurk Cathedral was visited by the Pope in 1988.

Obiskal sem nekaj skritih biserov avstrijske Koroške in Štajerske. Mimo Vrbskega jezera do gradu Ostrovica, pa naprej do najstarejšega mesta na Koroškem. To so Breže. Murau in Bruck an der Mur pa sta manjši mesti v zgornji dolini reke Mure. Bil sem tudi na Erzberg Rodeu v Eisenerzu.
