Dublin CITY TOUR | Stephen's Green Shopping Centre | 4K 60 FPS

Hello everyone!
If you have enjoyed the video do not forget to Like It and Subscribing to our Channel:

This is ONE THINGS TO DO in Dublin.
If you like Architecture or just shopping, you don't have to miss the STEPHENS GREEN SHOPPING CENTRE.

The Stephen's Green Shopping Centre is a large indoor shopping centre at the top of Grafton Street in Dublin, Ireland. It is named after St. Stephen's Green, a city park situated across the road from its main entrance. Its street address is St. Stephen's Green West.

°History
Site and Dandelion Market (1966–1986)
The site of the shopping centre was assembled over 15 years by the Slazenger family, beginning in 1966. In total, more than 150 individual property owners were bought out over that period. Most of the buildings were Georgian, and these were left to fall into disrepair and ruin as plans for an extensive redevelopment of the site as an office block and shopping centre totalling almost half-a-million square feet were drawn up. The original architects were Scott Tallon Walker, and planning permission for their scheme was granted in 1975. During the recession of the late 1970s, the small shops were rented out under a scheme known as the Gaiety Green. At the weekends, this was marketed as the Dandelion Market, known for its alternative vendors, popular with younger people. U2 played some of their earliest gigs at the market. The market, which closed in 1981, is commemorated with a plaque, while Sinnotts Bar on South King Street is the only trader from the original site that remains.

The site was put up for sale in 1980, and was purchased by Patrick Gallagher in April 1981 for £10.5 million. Most of the buildings on the site were demolished while Gallagher attempted to sell the site to Irish Life, without success. He also sought permission to erect a show house for his Fortunestown development in Tallaght but this was rejected by Dublin Corporation. After Gallagher went bankrupt, the site was re-acquired by the Slazengers, and it was placed back on the market in 1983, and later sold for £5 million to Power Securities. They drew up plans for 7 acres of retail, bar and restaurant spaces, with 40 luxury flats and parking for 800 cars.

°Development and Construction
The centre in its final form was developed by British Land under a design by James Toomey.
Work began on the shopping centre in 1986, with plans for anchor and specialist shops, restaurants and bars, leisure facilities, and, at a cost of £15 million, 700 parking spaces.

°Opening and operation
The project was completed in 1988, with a total budget of £50 million, and the centre officially opened its doors on 8 November that year, though with only 4 units ready on the first day.[6] The use of glass and ornate white iron work on the exterior has been likened to a Mississippi steamboat moored on the edge of the Green[7] and the building is locally often called The Wedding Cake.

In 2019, a fund managed by Davy Group acquired the remaining portions of the property not under its ownership.

The view from the hilltop is insane ! | Deer Park Golf and Howth Castle in Dublin - Ireland

The view from the hilltop is insane ! | Deer Park Golf and Howth Castle in Dublin - Ireland

Deer Park Golf is situated in the picturesque peninsula of Howth, a fishing village north of Dublin city and less than 30 minutes from Dublin Airport.
As we reached Deer park Golf we can parked the car in the big parking area in front of the Golf course building and proceeded to walk by the right side of the Deer Park Golf restaurant area looking at the sea on right hand side. As we walked further through the woods we found a flight of stairs and started to climb up the hill. The walk through the forest ambience was really relaxing and it took more than 10 minutes of walk up the hill before we reached the hilltop where the view was like unreal. Really great view of Dublin and Howth region. But there was a wild fire across the other hill and there was a helicopter in sight that was putting out the forest fire.

After some time we descended the hill and on the way back we stopped by the Howth Castle. Howth Castle was the residence of St Lawrence Family who used to hold the title of Earl of Howth and Howth Castle is one the longest continuously-inhabited private homes in Europe. The estate includes much of the peninsula of Howth Head, including extensive heathland and much of the famous Howth Cliff Walks, with views over Dublin Bay, light woodland, and the island of Ireland's Eye. On the grounds near the castle are golf, pitch and putt and foot-golf facilities, a former hotel, formal gardens and a pond, rhododendron walks - and several small streams. Howth Castle and the adjoining estate have been sold to developers with a view toward upgrading the Deer Park Hotel and golf courses into a luxury resort destination.

Dublin to Belfast by Train - The Northern Ireland Adventure Begins

After one too many pints of Guinness the night before, we hopped on an early train from Dublin to Belfast. Fast, modern trains link Dublin Connolly and Belfast Lanyon Place in about 2 hours 10 minutes, with departures ever 2 hours.

We were pretty impressed at how efficient and smooth the transport system is, and were glad to travel by train from Dublin in Ireland to Belfast in the United Kingdom.

Tip: The best way to find a cheap train ticket from Dublin to Belfast is to book your journey as far in advance as possible and to avoid traveling at rush hour. The average ticket from Dublin to Belfast will cost around €17 but you can get cheap Adult single tickets on the Dublin-Belfast train line for as low as €7.20.

Currarevagh House, Irish Country House, Connemara, Co. Galway - Ireland's Blue Book

Currarevagh is a graceful Victorian Country House, set in a 180-acre private estate on the shores of Lough Corrib in Connemara. Currarevagh offers genuine Irish hospitality, a timeless experience in a unique setting which has welcomed guests for 130 years. Peace and tranquillity reign, with elegant bedrooms and comfortable drawing rooms in a beautifully maintained historic house, all surrounded by majestic scenery and stunning vistas.

Currarevagh (pronounced “Curra – reeva”) still retains the atmosphere of a bygone age where the emphasis is on hospitality and service. It is run along the lines of a private country house rather than as an impersonal hotel and while extremely comfortable it is not pretentious. The tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking a relaxing few days, enjoying our house and grounds or exploring the beauty of Lough Corrib, Connemara, Galway and beyond. Guests at Currarevagh House can relax in the peace and tranquillity of the woodls, gardens and surrounding waters of Lough Corrib. The idyllic setting of the Hotel in Oughterard means all of Connemara in on our door step, from The Sky Road to Kylemore Abbey and beyond to the beauty of Roundstone and Clifden. The ferry to the Aran Islands is only 30 minutes drive.

From Ireland's Blue Book website:
The estate is a European Special Area of Conservation with woods to explore, abundant wildlife to be spotted, maps to guide you on long walks, boats so you can escape to your private island and lots of space to unwind and retreat from the outside world. Currarevagh is perfectly located for Connemara and all it has to offer, the Aran Islands and Galway City, all along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Food and feasting are a central part of what they do, a huge source of pride. Lucy has cooked professionally for over 20 years from London to Sydney and back again, constantly innovating and always creative. They strive to give a sense of place using the best of what is available from local farmers and artisan suppliers. They do not have communal dining. Breakfast sees a big emphasis on homemade goods from granola to kombucha and yoghurts; Picnics available each day and Afternoon Tea for everyone staying at Currarevagh. The unique ‘Hatch Bar’ has everything from a growing Organic and Natural wine list to local gins, beers, and homemade concoctions.

Currarevagh is also available for private rental for 12 to 20 guests. Please note it is not suitable for children under 8.
