Cameroon
Country in Central Africa
Cameroon, on the Gulf of Guinea, is a Central African country of varied terrain and wildlife. Its inland capital, Yaoundé, and its biggest city, the seaport Douala, are transit points to ecotourism sites as well as beach resorts like Kribi – near the Chutes de la Lobé waterfalls, which plunge directly into the sea – and Limbe, where the Limbe Wildlife Centre houses rescued primates. ― Google

Yaoundé
Capital of Cameroon
Yaoundé, spread over 7 hills, is the capital city of Cameroon. It is in the southern part of the country. The 20th-century Notre Dame des Victoires cathedral has a striking triangular roof. Nearby, in the Lake Quarter, the former presidential palace is home to the National Museum, with cultural exhibits such as masks and sculptures. Farther west, Mvog-Betsi Zoo is home to primates rescued from the bushmeat trade. ― Google

Top 10 Tourist Destinations in Cameroon

1. Yaounde
West Africa may not be known for beautiful cities but Cameroon’s capital Yaounde certainly is one. The city is immaculately planned to be spread over seven hills meaning that the numerous buildings in the city are separated by stretches of lush green and rising terrain. In addition to its layout, the city is clean and safe with plenty of points of interest. The 1970’s government buildings here will appeal to culture buffs and are unusual looking to say the least. Given the central location of Yaounde it is also a perfect city to include in any tour of the country.

2. Maroua
Nowhere near as lush and green, Maroua still has an appeal of its own. The streets are remarkably red, sandy and dusty and the buildings are a dull beige colour but the colours of the locals clothing brings plenty of colour to the city. Maroua is a great place to experience the culture of Cameroon and its bustling markets are some of the best in the country. The city is also a great base for travllers wishing to visit the Mandara Mountains in the north of the country.

3. Limbe
Occupying the slopes of Mount Cameroon, an active volcanic mountain, Limbe is a city that acts as a great base for travellers who are looking to explore the beauty of the area. The botanical gardens in the city are a great place to learn about the nature and plants in the area before exploring the nearby waterfalls and national park. The mountain itself has a summit height of over 4,000m and is therefore a serious challenge but walks for novices are still possible around the base of the mountain without making a full ascent.

4. Douala
Douala has a reputation for being a bit grimey and insalubrious but this should not put you off visiting. This is the major city in Cameroon in most aspects; the airport is the biggest in the country, as is the port and the business centre here is the main one in the country. All of these hubs result in a chaotic and overactive feel and it is likely that you will not relax much whilst you are here. With that being said however the city is a great place to witness modern Cameroon and the few charms it offers.

5. Waza National Park
About 180 miles to the north of Maroua is Waza National Park. This park looks very different during the four seasons but is always a good place to witness some of the country’s most spectacular wildlife including elephants, giraffes and hyenas. Self-drive vehicles are allowed to explore the park but you will need a guide. This is not necarasilly a bad thing as you are much more likely to see the wildlife with a local guide that knows their stuff.

6. Bamenda
Bamenda holds the title of being the capital of Cameroon’s north-west and is a large city with all the amenities and facilities needed by travellers. The city of Bamenda is not likely to keep you interested for more than a day or two but Bamenda is a great place to reach the country’s highlands which offer beautiful lush scenery and hidden villages. The surrounding landscape is a great place for mountain biking, hiking and finding some off the radar guesthouses and restaurants.

7. Foumban
For art lovers, Foumban is a must-see city in Cameroon. The city has its roots in arts, music and architecture. It is also the city in Cameroon with the largest Muslim population. The city is much like a blend of North and West Africa with its Islamic influences. The Royal Palace and its adjoining museum is the main attraction here although the city’s mosque is also worth a visit while you are here.

8. Bafoussam
Although at first glance this city can seem busy and uninspiring, it will reward those who choose to explore. The people here are very friendly and welcoming to tourists and the palace here is a great, if not the best, example of a Royal Palace in Cameroon. The accommodation in the city is affordable and there are some true hidden gems to be found. The main tourist attraction is the tribal museum in the city which is part of the “Four Museums of Cameroon” project.

9. Kribi
This is the home of paradise in Cameroon. The beaches here are stunning with white sand, blue sea and fresh fish served from the restaurants lining the seafront. There are plenty of hotels in the Kribi area and most are reasonably priced. If after lounging by the beach all day you are looking for something different to do, the Chutes de la Lobe waterfalls are just 8km due south from the town. The waterfalls cascade directly into the sea forming a truly memorable sight.

10. Korup National Park
Korup National Park is a vast area, comprising 126,000 hectares of evergreen forest. The park is well maintained with resident scientists and well-marked trails. Many species of birds can be found in the park including hornbills and the extremely rare red headed rockfowl. Visitors to the park may even be lucky enough to see elephants or chimps although these are rare. The road access to the park can be tricky especially in the wet months when the road conditions deteriorate.

TOP 10 TOURISTIC SITES OF CAMEROON. #tourism #tourafrica #tourcameroon

Tourism in Cameroon is a growing but relatively minor industry. Since the 1970s, the government of Cameroon has cultivated the industry by creating a ministry of tourism and by encouraging investment by airlines, hotels, and travel agencies. The government describes the country as Africa in miniature, promoting its diversity of climate, culture, and geography. Cameroon's wildlife draws both safari-goers and big-game hunters, as Cameroon is home to many of Africa's iconic animals: cheetahs, chimpanzees, elephants, giraffes, gorillas, hippopotami, and rhinoceroses. Impediments to further growth of the tourism sector include poor transport infrastructure and corrupt officials who may harass visitors for bribes.

Tourists face several obstacles in Cameroon. Photography is difficult, since Cameroonians often resent foreigners taking photographs of things that outsiders may consider strange or that may cast Cameroon in a negative light. The government forbids all photography of government buildings and personnel, airports, bridges, and markets

Treatment of tourists by Cameroonian officials has improved as the role of tourism as a source of revenue has been emphasised by the government. Tourists once faced long, thorough searches upon arrival in the country, but these have become rare.
Still, police or gendarmes sometimes accuse foreign tourists of spying or carrying out mercenary activities.
This is especially true for tourists who visit sites off the main tourist routes or who opt for cheap accommodation or public transport (e.g., mini-buses) over fancier hotels and rental cars. Police and gendarmes at roadblocks may harass foreign visitors for bribes.

Cameroon In 4K : Welcome to Foumban & Bafoussam Drone Aerial footage #Foumban #bafoussam

Located in the western region of Cameroon, the city of Foumban is only 70 km away from the capital of the region Bafoussam. Foumban is the capital of the Nun Department and Christianity and Islam are the main religions. With a population of 820,000 inhabitants and an area of 7700 km², it covers almost half of the western region. Thanks to its craftsmanship, Foumban enjoys an international reputation and is also known as the city of arts. Handicraft employs a good number of young people and is the main source of income for the population. Foumban has two major museums, the Palace Museum and the Museum of Arts. The Museum of Arts has more than three thousand works of art and historical pieces, some dating back over 600 years. They tell the story of the Bamoun people, one of the oldest kingdoms in Africa. Visitors will have the opportunity to contemplate the treasures, traditions, art and culture of the Bamoun Kingdom.
Agglomeration of more than one million inhabitants, Bafoussam has literally boosted its urban architecture and accommodation capacity. Between tradition and modernity, the regional capital of the West represents the highlands area .
A succession of traditional buildings with bamboo walls and clods of earth; a picturesque architectural picture that can be interrupted almost every kilometer by a modern castle surrounded by a high wall of concrete or iron. It is the contrasting landscape that Bafoussam visitors discover from Yaoundé (nearly 300 km away) or from Douala (268 km away). Entering this very commercial city-crossroads of the Grass fields area, you can admire the plains and valleys of red earth, bordered by family plantations on both sides of beautiful asphalt roads. The fruit of this labor, in terms of fresh food, is sold all along the main road and in the many always busy markets in the region.
The chiefdoms and traditional monuments are legion in Bafoussam and its surroundings, in a region of West Cameroon where the ancestral culture based on the sacred is almost a religion. In the heart of downtown Bafoussam itself, the chiefdom of the Fussap (people who gave its name to the city) with its entrance wall topped with conical roofs is already worth a detour. Not far away is the great Bandjoun chiefdom and its royal museum, showing more than 600 precious objects of local art. At the Bangou chiefdom, it exhibits the remains of the first car bought by a Bamileke leader long before Cameroon’s independence.
Alongside its working populations attached to their heritage enhancement, the Bafoussam area is also a gift of nature, as evidenced by the panoramic view of mountain ranges and rivers, many of which have waterfalls. Lake Baleng which is impressively calm and inhabited by a colony of ducks is a definite place to visit.

MAP OF CAMEROON

hello my friends. this is a map of Cameroon. The country is located in Central and West Africa, known as the hinge of Africa, on the Bight of Bonny, part of the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean. Cameroon controls 12 nautical miles of the Atlantic Ocean.

Tourist literature describes Cameroon as Africa in miniature because it exhibits all major climates and vegetation of the continent: coast, desert, mountains, rainforest, and savanna. The country's neighbours are Nigeria and the Atlantic Ocean to the west; Chad to the northeast; the Central African Republic to the east; and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo to the south.

Cameroon is divided into five major geographic zones distinguished by dominant physical, climatic, and vegetative features. The coastal plain extends 15 to 150 kilometres inland from the Gulf of Guinea and has an average elevation of 90 metres. Exceedingly hot and humid with a short dry season, this belt is densely forested and includes some of the wettest places on earth, part of the Cross-Sanaga-Bioko coastal forests.

The South Cameroon Plateau rises from the coastal plain to an average elevation of 650 metres. Equatorial rainforest dominates this region, although its alternation between wet and dry seasons makes it less humid than the coast. This area is part of the Atlantic Equatorial coastal forests ecoregion.

there are Elephants in Waza National Park also.
An irregular chain of mountains, hills, and plateaus known as the Cameroon range extends from Mount Cameroon on the coast—Cameroon's highest point at 4,095 metres —almost to Lake Chad at Cameroon's northern border at 13°05'N. This region has a mild climate, particularly on the Western High Plateau, although rainfall is high. Its soils are among Cameroon's most fertile, especially around volcanic Mount Cameroon. Volcanism here has created crater lakes. On 21 August 1986, one of these, Lake Nyos, belched carbon dioxide and killed between 1,700 and 2,000 people. This area has been delineated as the Cameroonian Highlands forests ecoregion.

The southern plateau rises northward to the grassy, rugged Adamawa Plateau. thats all. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.
