Beijing Vacation Travel Video Guide • Great Destinations

The Chinese is one of the worlds oldest civilizations. The capital, Beijing with its 11 million inhabitants is now a modern city with skyscrapers, highways and shopping malls. Its several ancient monuments are all oases of silence. The Tien’anmen square is possibly the largest and most famous square of the world. The former imperial palace, surrounded by wall was called ‘the forbidden city’ because a commoner could not enter here. At least that beautiful is the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven, where pieces from the ancient artist await the visitors. When in Beijing, one must not forget the Buddhist temples, and the zoo, where the very rare panda bears are living. Let us not forget about the gastronomical part of China, since the country’s cuisine is one of the best on Earth. From Beijing we can travel to the old capital, Xian, where the famous clay soldiers can be seen. The Ming Dinasty Tombs are only 50 kilometres far from Beijing, but the Great Wall of China is not far either.

Beihai Park, Beijing, China!

PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!!! After the concrete jungles of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, head to nearby Beihai Park for a breath of fresh air. Whether you're under a tree overlooking the lake or in an ancient pagoda, you'll see why this former imperial garden has been a preserved sanctuary since its creation in A.D. 1166. Over time, the park has acquired more and more monuments. Not-to-be-missed highlights include the Temple of Everlasting Peace, White Dagoba and the Circular City. To reach Beihai, you can take subway line 4 to Ping An Li or one of the numerous bus lines (Nos. 609, 107, 111, 118 and 13) that drop passengers off at the park's north gate. That said, the park is within walking distance of the Forbidden City's north gate, so pairing the two activities is smart. Admission to the grounds costs 10 yuan (about $1.50 USD) in peak season and 5 yuan (about $0.75 USD) in low season; however, many of the buildings inside require additional fares. Purchasing a through ticket (i.e. an all-access pass) for 20 yuan (about $3) can help you save (5 yuan less in offseason). Welcoming visitors daily, the park opens at 6 or 6:30 a.m. and closes between 8 and 10 p.m., depending on the season.

【4K】Virtual Tour - Beihai Park Royal Garden - Talk about Imperial Restaurant Fangshan (ENG Sub)

【4K】virtual travel Guide Beijing | Series of Beijing Stories - Beihai Park - Beijing Royal Garden - Imperial Restaurant Fangshan

Walking through Beihai Park, take in the scenery. Listen to me talk about the history of Beihai Park and the past and present of Fangshan Restaurant, and enjoy the introduction of delicious food.

Beihai Park (simplified Chinese: 北海公园; traditional Chinese: 北海公園) is a public park and former imperial garden located in the northwestern part of the Imperial City, Beijing. First built in the 11th century, it is among the largest of all Chinese gardens and contains numerous historically important structures, palaces, and temples. Since 1925, the place has been open to the public as a park. It is also connected at its northern end to the Shichahai.

Beihai Park, located northwest of the Forbidden City and Jingshan Mountain, was built during the Song, Liao, and Jin Dynasties. It is the earliest existing imperial palace in the world. The North Sea is laid out with Qionghua Island as the main body. On the top of the island is the landmark Yong'an Temple White Pagoda, which echoes with the Tuancheng on the south bank and the palace groups on the north bank, and forms the north-south axis of the garden by borrowing scenery from each other.

Beihai was built in the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. It has a long history and inherited many things when Beihai Park rebuilt it. It was first built in the Liao Dynasty. It was then located in the northeast suburbs of the capital city in Liaoning Province's south. The nearby scenery was beautiful. So the rulers dredged the water system and built a palace on Yao Island in imitation of Penglai Paradise. The Guanghan Hall, based on the Yaoyu Palace, has existed since the 19th year of Jin Dating (1179). At the same time, the lake was called Xihua Lake, Yaoyu Island was renamed Qionghua Island, and the entire Li Palace was named Daning Palace (later renamed Wanning Palace).

Fangshan Restaurant is a famous palace restaurant in Beijing, China Time-honored Brand , located in Beihai Park. The interior decoration takes Chinese traditional culture as the theme, with painted palace lanterns, bright yellow curtains, napkins, tablecloths, and chair covers, and tableware, imitation Qing palace porcelain or goldware, with the words eternal life. Fangshan Restaurant is second to none in Manchu and Han styles (Manchu–Han Imperial Feast). In 2010, the imperial cuisine of the Qing Dynasty skill of Fangshan Restaurant was listed as a municipal intangible cultural heritage of Beijing.

Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China, located in North China (華北). It is the world's most populous capital city, with over 21 million residents within an administrative area of 16,410.5 km2.
