ONE DAY IN LIMA TRAVEL GUIDE (PERUVIAN FOOD, MIRAFLORES, KENNEDY PARK) // PERU TRAVEL VLOG

Wondering what to do with one day in Lima, Peru? In this Lima travel guide we show you our 7 favourite things to do in Lima, Peru! This video is the first of our Peru travel vlogs and we jam packed it with the best way to see Peru's vibrant capital city for anyone who is short on time. If you happen to have a second free day in Lima, you could also do these 7 things over two days and just spend a bit more time eating delicious food in between each stop! Peru is famous for its incredible cuisine, and Lima is considered the food capital of South America, so there is no shortage of AMAZING food to try. We made sure to find ourselves Peruvian ceviche and the famous lomo saltado at mercado 28 and were NOT disappointed by our first taste of Peruvian food!

For your visit to Lima, we highly suggest you start your day at Miraflores (many visitors rent accommodation in Miraflores for easy access and safety) which is home to Kennedy Park and Parque del Amor. Give yourself lots of time to pet the dozens of cats at Kennedy Park if you are someone who enjoys a furry cuddle! After taking in the epic coastal views at Parque del Amor, walk or cycle along the coast to Mercado 28 for an incredible ceviche or lomo saltado lunch (or a dozen other options!). Then its a quick jaunt over to Baranco to watch the street performers and hold your breath as you cross the Bridge of Sighs. You can then make your way to Plaza de Armas to wander the streets and take in the beautiful architecture (if you have the time, we recommend joining a free walking tour around Plaza de Armas to learn more about the history of Lima). Finally, once it gets dark, head over to Parque de la Reserva to take in the fountain light show! This show was not at all what we expected, but it was awesome and is a great way to end a full day of sightseeing!

Is food in Peru as good as people say? // Peru Travel Vlog

The food in Peru is world-renowned for being some of the best cuisine in the world, so we made it our mission to try the top ten Peruvian dishes traditional to Peru during our visit. Of course, this Peru food tour included trying guinea pig for the first time, which was quite an experience. It also included other traditional Peruvian dishes like ceviche, lomo saltado, aji da gallina, anticuchos, rocoto relleno, picarones, chifa, a traditional almuerzo, and of course, the most famous Peruvian drink: Pisco sour.

In this video we are going to share with you our thoughts on each of these classic Peruvian dishes and give them each a rating out of five llamas! We love trying food in new countries and sharing our experiences in a travel food vlog, and we hope you find this one not only entertaining, but helpful as you plan what food you want to try during your trip to Peru! Most of these dishes were eaten in Cusco or Lima, which are both great cities to explore Peru's food scene from. Lima is often referred to as the food capital of South America, and we highly recommend you dedicate some time to trying typical Peruvian foods from here because the city's access to the ocean mean you always have great seafood! It is also a lot of fun to star your own Peruvian food tour by trying street food in Lima - they have some awesome options!

So, whether you are someone who just loves learning about other culture's foods or you are planning a trip to Peru and want to know what the best food in Peru is, then stick around until the end! We will give you a great idea of the ten best foods to try in Peru and ultimately answer the question: Is the food in peru as good as people say? And more than that, we will tell you how it compares to the food in other South American countries and what we think makes Peruvian food different than the food in Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, and Colombia!

CUSCO TRAVEL GUIDE | Top 15 Things To Do In Cusco, Peru

Join us for our Cusco Travel Guide as we cover the top 15 things to do in Cusco, Peru. Many travelers to Cusco use the city as a launching pad to hike the Inca trail, visit Machu Picchu and/or explore the Sacred Valley. With so many travel options just outside of the city it is easy to forget that Cuzco has a lot to offer in and of itself. The following Cusco travel guide is our attempt to showcase what the city has to offer in terms of attractions, things to do, shopping, dining, museums and nightlife. In our opinion, you'll want to budget several days to take it all in and acclimatize to the higher altitude if you're thinking of going on hiking excursions afterwards.

Our visit Cusco travel guide covers some of the top attractions including the best in arts, entertainment, museums, nightlife and restaurants. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't find in your typical tourism brochure or Cusco city guide.

1) Cusco Cathedral (Viracocha) - Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin (Iglesia de la Compania de Jesus)

14) El Templo de la Merced del Cusco
15) Nightlife in Cusco - drinking a pisco sour

Alternate Cuzco/Cusco spelling: (Quechua: Qusqu or Qosqo)

15 Things to do in Cusco, Peru | Top Attractions Travel Guide:

If you're planning to walk the Inca Trail or visit Machu Picchu, you'll likely end up spending at least a few days in Cuzco. With it's lively square, quirky museums, artisans markets and traditional performances, this is exactly the type of destination you'll want to linger in...plus let's not forget, it's also a good place to adjust to the altitude! The following video will showcase 15 things to do in Cuzco:

Cuzco Cathedral is a place you shouldn't miss. The cathedral sits on the site of Viracocha Inca’s palace, and it was also built using blocks from the nearby Inca site of Sacsaywamán. Inside you'll find impressive works of art done in the cuzqueña style.

In the evenings, you can go watch a traditional dance performance at Centro Qosqo.

San Blas

San Blas is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Cuzco and it is a great area to explore on foot. The neighbourhood is known for its bright blue doors and window shutters, and it has a nice little square with a church and a water fountain. The neighbourhood has some really cool lookout points with great panoramic views of Cuzco, so you'll want to bring your camera.

Plaza de Armas is the beating heart of Cuzco. The square is flanked by a Jesuit church and cathedral, and there are also plenty of bars, restaurants, and tour agencies around the perimeter. During the day you'll find locals and tourists hanging out in the square, and if you get lucky, you might just encounter a performance followed by a demonstration like we did.

The Inca Museum is one of the main museums in town and it has rooms dedicated to different periods of Inca and Spanish history. You can also see women weaving rugs and tapestries by hand in the central courtyard.

Qurikancha was an Inca temple built to the Sun God, Inti, and it is believed that the walls of this temple were once covered in sheets of gold. If the temple looks like it has various layers of construction, that's because when the Spaniards arrived, they demolished the original temple and used the foundations to build the Church of Santo Domingo on the site.

The Church of the Society of Jesus is a historic Jesuit church. It's worth a quick visit if you're in the area.

Templo de la Merced is another church located one block from Plaza de Armas, and it contains the tomb of two famous conquistadors.

And that's a wrap for Cuzco! We hope you enjoyed this video and that it showed you a few of the places you can visit while you're in the city. We recommend spending at least 3 days here, or perhaps a few more if you also want to tour the Sacred Valley. As always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do in Cuzco, feel free to share those in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Peru series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Peruvian culture, Peruvian arts, Peruvian foods, Peruvian religion, Peruvian cuisine and Peruvian people. All things Peruano. The best of Comida Peruana and Cocina Peruana.

How to Spend Your Time in Cusco // Peru Travel Vlog

The Rainbow Mountains in Peru are quickly being added to nearly everyone's bucket list! The Rainbow Mountains are only a few hours drive from Cusco, making them an awesome daytrip before or after your visit to Machu Picchu. The most well-known mountain to visit within the Rainbow Mountains is Vinicunca, which was the first colorful landscape to be open to the public as a tourist attraction. In recent years, Vinicunca has become overrun with tourists who flock to one specific spot to get one iconic photo before the next visitor takes their turn. To avoid this mayhem, we decided to visit Palccoyo which is a part of the Rainbow Mountains that was opened to tourists in 2018 and is much less visited (so far). We are so glad we made the choice to visit Palccoyo instead of Vinicunca because we only had to share the area with a couple of other tourists!

It was so easy to arrange a day tour to the Rainbow Mountains from Cusco. We used our friends at Peruvian Paths and Adventures to hook us up with a tour as we weren't too sure how to get to the Rainbow Mountains or what it's like to visit this iconic mountain range. We were also a bit skeptical about if the Rainbow Mountains are worth visiting, but we were happy to discover that they are in fact definitely worth the day trip, especially because they are so close to Cusco!

If you are planning a trip to Peru, you are most definitely including a trip to Macchu Picchu in your schedule, which means you will be in Cusco! Whether you take the Inca Rail Train ride to Machu Picchu or if you brave the Inca Trail or Salkantay Trail like we did, you will want to have a couple of days in the Cusco area to adapt to the elevation. Going to the Rainbow Mountains is an awesome way to spend a day getting used to Cusco's high altitude!

► WHO AM I?

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged the life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer.

I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

What NOT to do in LIMA, PERU

If you're planning to visit Lima, Peru, there are some important things you should know. [Peru travel 2019]
►The travel credit card we use:

After traveling in Mexico for about 15 months, we decided it was time to visit another Spanish-speaking country. When some airplane tickets to Lima, Peru went on sale, we couldn't pass up the opportunity! That's what originally brought us to Lima where we experienced a bit of culture shock and made a few mistakes during our trip.

In this Lima 2019 vlog, we decided to share the biggest mistakes we think travelers are likely to make in the city. In this travel vlog, we talk about the biggest mistakes you can make in Lima, including:

- A common Lima candy you shouldn't take back on the plane;
- The local currency and how you can pay;
- The price of transportation in Lima and which is the best option to choose;
- A local beverage you should be very careful with;
- The tipping culture and what's expected;
- A big mistake you can make with Peruvian food;
- What the seasons are like in Peru;
- Heating and cooling in Lima homes;
- What the driving is like in the city;
- A big mistake you can make while walking around Lima;
- And more!

Some of these mistakes we made ourselves, and others are details about Peru or traveling in Lima that you might easily overlook. Even if you ask lots of questions and do tons of research before traveling to Lima, not knowing these helpful facts might make your trip less desirable.

We hope this information and our tips help you in your Lima, Peru 2019 travels! Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments.

THE BEST WAY TO GET TO MACHU PICCHU - HIKING THE SALKANTAY // PERU TRAVEL VLOG

In our opinion, the BEST way to get to Machu Picchu is by hiking the Salkantay Trek. This 3-4 day trek in the Peruvian Andes leads you to Humantay Lake, over mountains, through jungle, and eventually brings you to the gateway to Machu Picchu; Aguas Calientes. Although there are multiple ways to get to Machu Picchu, taking the scenic route is always our preferred method, and we think this video makes it clear why we prefer to take the long way :)

We did this trek with Peruvian Paths and Adventures, and you can see in the video how much we enjoyed our trip! You can check out Peruvian Paths and Adventures here:

Not only was the food excellent and the guide incredibly knowledgeable, but having a team available to organize and help our group as needed was invaluable! We really can't say enough good things about Peruvian Paths and Adventures and recommend you check them out for any adventure you want to do in Peru!

If you are wondering how to get to Machu Picchu, or are debating between the Inca Trail and the Salkantay Trail, we hope you find this video helpful! After watching the video we hope you agree that the Salkantay Trail is absolutely gorgeous and is a route to Machu Picchu that deserves some consideration. One of the major perks of the Salkantay Trail is that if you need a bit of extra help, there are horse and van options along the way that ensure everyone can make it to Aguas Calientes safely. As you can see in the video, these options helped our group have an awesome trip and made sure we had the energy needed for our visit to Machu Picchu!
