Walking in OLDENBURG / Germany ????????- Around the City Center - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Oldenburg is a town in northwest Germany. The old center of Oldenburg has many restaurants and cafes on pedestrian streets that we will visit on this walk.
We start our tour at the Hafenpromenade along the harbor of Oldenburg east of the city center. We are quickly getting to the inner city and the Ritterstraße to visit the Rathausmarkt with the St. Lamberti Church of Oldenburg.
Our tour continues to the Oldenburger Schloss that we circle around. On our way we also see the Berliner Bären statue. Then it's time to make a little detour outside of the city center.
Returning back to the inner city through Schlossplatz we now see more of the center and often head out and back into the many pedestrian streets. We even see the Lappan, a historic bell tower in the north of the city and stroll around the many alleys. There are more paths to explore.

Papenburg an der Ems (Duitsland)
Papenburg is een stad en gemeente in de Duitse deelstaat Nedersaksen, gelegen in de Landkreis Emsland. De stad, met de status van selbständige Gemeinde, telt 37.551 inwoners.
De talrijke veenkanalen in de gemeente, veelal Wieke -wijken- genaamd, zijn voor de tegenwoordige scheepvaart van geen betekenis meer. Wel dragen ze bij aan het historische, voor Duitsland zo goed als unieke, stadsbeeld. Daartoe liggen enkele modellen van handelsschepen in het centrum als decor afgemeerd. Verder kenmerkt het centrum zich door het vele groen en bloembakken die het compacte centrum een knus aanzien geven. Papenburg heeft een eigen stadshaven bij de oude werft en is verder bekend van de Meyer werft die grote cruiseschepen bouwt.

What Happened at Concentration Camp Vught, in the Netherlands, during World War II ?
In 1943, the amount of opponents to the Nazi regime grew so much, that the Germans felt compelled to imprison more and more people. The Nazi administration decided to create a new camp near Den Bosch (Herzogenbusch in German). This camp saw about 32000 prisoners, mostly Dutch, of which abut 750 died on site, and many other probably in the other camps to which they were transported.
On its site, there is today a comprehensive museum which documents its history.

Erst wollte ich nicht los, dann überzeugte mich aber die Sonne und so ging es auf einen 10km Trip in die Oldenburger Innenstadt, wo gerade auf dem Schloßplatz der diesjährige Ostermarkt aufgebaut wird. Eine echte Neuerung: es gibt ein richtiges Riesenrad, oder gab es das schon einmal?

Diese Schmalfilmaufnahmen aus 1980 zeigen die alte und neue Amalienbrücke in Oldenburg.
Die alte Amalienbrücke (Hubbrücke) existierte damals noch einige Wochen neben der neuen Brücke, bevor sie nahezu restlos entfernt wurde. Protesttransparente zeigen, wie sehr die Oldenburg an ihrer Hubbrücke hingen.
Im Zuge eines möglichen Neubaus der sehr ähnlich konstruierten Cäcilienbrücke wiederholt sich heute die damalige Diskussion, ob ein Abriss wünchenswert ist oder ob die Cäcilienbrücke als letzte Ihrer Art nicht doch erhalten werden sollte.
Entgegen der landläufigen Meinung waren die alte Amalienbrücke und die heute noch existierende Cäcilienbrücke nicht baugleich. Wer genau hinsieht, erkennt den Unterschied bei 1:15 .

Historische Schulstunde nachgespielt - Das Schulmuseum Folmhusen
Streng schaut das „Fräulein Lehrerin“ auf die Hände der 15 Schülerinnen und Schüler. Die Leiterin des Schulmuseums Folmhusen, Doris Fricke, scheint tatsächlich in der Rolle der Lehrerin in jedem Augenblick zum Tadeln bereit zu sein, wenn auch nur eine Hand ihr schmutzig entgegengestreckt werden würde. Es ist nur eine von vielen Szenen des Filmes über eine Unterrichtsstunde im Ostfriesischen Schulmuseum Folmhusen. Der Ihrhover Filmproduzent Hillrich Meinders hat zusammen mit den Westoverledinger Gemeindemitarbeitern Manfred Bleeker und Theo Douwes ein Drehbuch entwickelt, um die Schönheit und Besonderheit der gesamten Gemeinde Westoverledingen in bewegten Bildern darzustellen. Dabei entstanden am und im Schulmuseum so tolle Aufnahmen, dass die Verantwortlichen sich entschlossen diese zusätzlich in einen einzelnen Film zu packen.

SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE - Spektakuläre Ems-Überführung am 30.08.2020 (Papenburg bis Leer)
Das für Saga Cruises gebaute neue Kreuzfahrtschiff Spirit of Adventure wurde am 30.08.2020 auf der Ems von der Papenburger Meyerwerft nach Emden überführt. Das Schiff ist 236m lang, 34m breit und sollte ursprünglich schon eher in Dienst gehen, wegen der Corona-Krise aber kam es zu baulichen Verzögerungen. Die Aufnahmen entstanden entlang der Ems zwischen Papenburg und Weener, an der Friesenbrücke und an der Jann-Berghaus-Brücke vor Leer.

Odyssey of the Seas Leaves Meyer Werft
Royal Caribbean's new Odyssey of the Seas left Meyer Werft at Papenburg (Germany) traveling down the Ems River for its sea trials on February 27, 2021, in a complex maneuver which is explained in this video. The ship is expected to enter service in May.
