Esch- Sur - alzette is the second city of #luxembourg located in the South West of Luxembourg, on the border with #france . Back in time , this place used to be a small farming village and in 1850s , it changed with the development of mines and the steel industry.
This cosmopolitan city is also well known for its architectural charms and it's large shopping facilities.

LUXEMBOURG TRAVEL | Highlights of Luxembourg Country + Travel Itinerary
The country of Luxembourg is situated in western Europe and borders Belgium, France, and Germany. With an area of 2,586 square kilometers (998 sq mi), Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in all of Europe. But in spite of its size, this country has deep historical roots and offers a lot of diversity. From the rocky gorges in the east to the river valleys in the north and medieval towns with castles perched in between. We’ll now dive into our top 7 interesting places to visit and things to do in the country of Luxembourg.
7. Echternach
Echternach is located in the east of Luxembourg, right next to the German border. It is known as the oldest town in the country, dating back to the end of the 7th century when the Abbey of Echternach was established. Today, you can find a lovely open square, beautiful historical buildings (including the Abbey of Echternach, the adjoined Basilica of Saint Willibrord, the Roman Villa and the Orangery), and cute restaurants. This town makes for a great stop while exploring the countryside, or as a base to explore the unspoilt Mullerthal Region.
6. Mullerthal
The Mullerthal Region itself is probably the most unique area in all of Luxembourg. With an abundance of mysterious caves, small waterfalls, dense forests, and sandstone rock formations, this region is best explored on foot. Experienced hikers can tackle the challenging 112 km (70mi) Mullerthal Trail. But if you just have a few hours or a day, we recommend hiking shorter trails (i.e. Schiessentümpel waterfalls, Huel Lee Cave, Kallektuffquell).
5. Esch-sur-Sûre
Situated in a river valley in north-western Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Sûre is one of the tiniest villages in the country. Here, it seems as if time has stood still. You can see the remains of an old castle on the hill, with narrow streets surrounding it.
4. Clervaux
Located in northern Luxembourg, Clervaux is another countryside town that is worth a visit. Not only is it home to the beautiful Clervaux castle, but you can also walk here in the surrounding forests and hills or explore the small town center and nearby Abbey.
3. Bourscheid
Bourscheid is a small town in north-eastern Luxembourg, known for the country’s largest and most dramatic castle. But besides that, this village is located right next to the river and surrounded by rolling, green hills. Thus, it’s a great place for camping, swimming, and hiking. The long-distance Escapardenne Lee Trail runs through this area, and offers breathtaking views of the river valley (Gringlay View Point).
2. Vianden
Vianden is our favorite town in all of Luxembourg. Located in a valley along the Our River, this village enjoys an idyllic setting. But its main attraction is undoubtedly the Vianden Castle, which has been beautifully restored since 1977 when it passed into state ownership. You can easily combine a visit to the castle with a stroll through the town or a scenic ride on the chairlift.

Daniel is an American-Luxembourg dual citizen. Daniel recovered Luxembourg nationality through his great-grandmother Marguerite who left from Esch-sur-Alzette to Leavenworth, Kansas. Daniel uses his ancestor's story to explain why he loves Esch-sur-Alzette. Daniel takes you around some of the different parts of the city and explains about Esch2022 ( Esch-sur-Alzette will be a European Capital of Culture in 2022 and home to various art and culture programs bringing international attention to Luxembourg.
Daniel also visits the Minett Trail and explains about Esch-sur-Alzette's mining history and its role in creating Luxembourg's riches.

On 20.03 a grand cavalcade in Esch-sur-Alzette will start at 2.15 pm on the CFL car park and cross Victor Hugo, Canal Street, Brill Street, Alzette Street and finish its route on the the Hotel de Ville.
At 5.30 pm, when the procession arrives on site, the animations will start until midnight.

LUXEMBOURG: Esch-sur-Sûre village
Above the picturesque village of Esch-Sur-Sûre, sited on a bend of the River Sure, are the castle ruins.
The 10th Century keep is the oldest part of the castle which is still standing, whilst the defensive walls are 13th Century.
There is a watch tower and a Renaissance gateway which date from the 15th Century.
Owned by the State from the 1890s, the castle is open to the public.

룩셈부르크의 마지막 여정지로 삼은 곳은 프랑스와 맞닿은 룩셈부르크 남서쪽 벨발 지역이다. 벨발은 또 다른 룩셈부르크다. 룩셈부르크의 초기 부흥을 일으켰던 제철공장의 설비들과 그 설비들 주변에 새로 생긴 신식 대학 건물들이 오묘하게 공존을 하며 지금껏 보지 못한 독특한 풍경을 만든다. 이른 아침인데도 두 젊은이가 무언가를 하고 있었다. “ 뮤직비디오 찍어요?” “독일 힙합, 독일 랩이에요. 이 지역이 너무 좋습니다. 독일에는 이런 곳이 없어요. 그래서 독일에서 이곳까지 200km 운전해서 온 거예요.” 가동을 멈춘 공장의 건물과 설비들은 너무 낡아 sf 영화에서나 나오는 풍경 같은데, 오히려 새로워 보인다. 이 지역의 사람들도 낡은 것을 버리지 않고 그것들과 공존하고 있었다. 폐 제철소 건물 내부로 들어갔다. 곳곳에 거대한 제철 관련 설비와 골조들. 마치 현대 설치 미술품을 보는 것 같다. 1층 로비는 시민들의 전시, 세미나 장소로 쓰인다. 이날도 룩셈부르크 대학 관계자들이 졸업 작품 전시장으로 답사를 왔다고 한다. “시간의 흐름에 따라 공간의 기능이 다양하게 변화하는 것은 매우 흥미롭고 중요하다고 생각합니다. 문화는 매우 중요한 요소이며 이전에 산업이 중요했다면 지금은 문화가 중요해졌어요.“ 제철소 꼭대기까지 올라가 보기로 했다. 엄청난 바람을 맞으며 10여 분 정도 올라가자 프랑스까지 훤히 보이는 시원한 풍경이 눈앞에 펼쳐진다. 가동을 멈춘 옛 공장의 모습과 새로 건설된 신식 건물들의 오묘한 조화. 옛 흔적을 버리지 않고 그것을 기반으로 발전해가는 나라, 룩셈부르크. “레드락(벨발)지역은 빠른 속도로 변화하고 있습니다. 불과 몇 년 사이에 ‘과학연구혁신단지‘라고 불리며 산업 지역에서 교육 지역, 문화 지역으로 변화하였습니다. 이처럼 룩셈부르크는 면적은 작지만 매우 역동적인 나라입니다. 이런 현상은 여기뿐만 아니라 룩셈부르크 전역에서 일어나고 있고 룩셈부르크는 계속 발전하고 있습니다.“
