Tübingen is currently running a pilot program – while almost everything is closed in the rest of the country, here museums, restaurants, and cinemas are open to visitors who have a recent, negative coronavirus test. Dhruv and Juli also pay a visit to the famous Blautopf springs not far from Tübingen, taking in the color of their beautiful, luminous blue waters.
Please note: Dhruv was in Tübingen at the start of April, 2021. The city’s coronavirus trial project – which amongst other things permitted retailers, and well as arts and culture venues to reopen – was ended on account of the high incidence rates in the county.

Tübingen / Germany is home to one of Europe’s oldest universities. Tübingen city is located in southwest Germany and is also famous for its nice well preserved old town along the Neckar river.
We start our walk just outside the city center, walk to the old town with the Stiftskirche St. Georg. We also see the ornately painted 15th-century City Hall with a functioning astronomical clock.
We see much of the old town and end our walk at the Neckar river. There are some type of punt boats Tübinger Stocherkahn are available for tours to enjoy the view of Tübingen from the river.

Das schöne Tübingen befindet sich im Mittelpunkt von Baden-Württemberg und ist die Stadt der Dichter und Denker. Lisa Kestel führt einen Tag durch die Stadt am Neckar. Mit ihren 90.000 Einwohnern, von denen ein Drittel Studierende sind, ist Tübingen eine Studentenstadt schlechthin. Das besondere: Es gibt keinen richtigen Campus – die Lehrgebäude sind quer in Tübingen verstreut, wie die Studierenden selbst. Nicht nur Goethe, Schiller und Hölderlin hatten große Bezüge zu Tübingen, auch die DNA wurde hier entdeckt.

Die Tübinger Universität ist eine der ältesten und renommiertesten Universitäten Deutschlands. Die schwäbische Stadt gilt als sehr umweltbewusst und das spiegelt sich auch im Stadtbild wider: Einflüsse von fridays for future, ein ticketfreier Samstag und viele Fahrräder. Geschichten und Sehenswürdigkeiten findet man hier an jeder Ecke. Egal ob Stocherkahn fahren, die Ober- und Unterstadt mit ihrer Weinvergangenheit erkunden oder die erste Kunst der Menschheit entdecken – Tübingen bietet außergewöhnliches und traditionelles, aber egal wo man hingeht, man spürt das Lebensgefühl einer jungen Studentenstadt.
Tübingen lebt von seinem Mix, der regelmäßigen Veränderung ohne jedoch seine Atmosphäre zu verlieren. Dabei ist Tübingen eher Dorf als Stadt, eingebettet zwischen Nordschwarzwald und dem Biosphärenreservat Schwäbische Alb fließen hier Goldersbach in die Ammer und diese wie auch die Steinlach münden im Neckar.

Radtour nach Reutlingen auf die Achalm
Fahrradtour vom Nordschwarzwald über das Neckartal auf dem Neckartalradweg und die Schwäbische Alb nach Reutlingen auf die Achalm. Meine Fahrradtour im März 2018 startet in Dornstetten im Nordschwarzwald und auf dem Neckartalradweg fahre ich in Richtung Tübingen. Allerdings verlasse ich das Neckartal schon kurz vor Bieringen und über Wachendorf, Hirrlingen und das Starzeltal geht es in Richtung der Schwäbischen Alb. Über die Ortschaften Bodelshausen, Mössingen und Gomaringen gelange ich anschließend nach Reutlingen, wo sich die Achalm, das Tagesziel der Fahrradtour befindet. Auf über 700 Meter über NN befindet sich eine Burgruine und die Aussicht von dort obern über die Schwäbische Alb war die Strapazen wert. Die Rückfahrt bis nach Tübingen zum Bahnhof erfolgt über die Ortschaft Kirchentellinsfurt und den Neckartalradweg.

Rottenburg am Neckar (until July 10, 1964 only Rottenburg) is a medium-sized town in the administrative district (Landkreis) of Tübingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It rests about 50 km southwest of the provincial capital Stuttgart and about 12 km southwest of the district town Tübingen. Rottenburg is the second largest city of the district after Tübingen and makes up a secondary center for the surrounding community. Since May 1, 1972, Rottenburg am Neckar is a district town (Große Kreisstadt). Rottenburg agreed to an administrative collectivity with the municipalities of Hirrlingen, Neustetten and Starzach.
