Seehafenstadt Emden | Ausflugsziele
Emden ist die größte Stadt Ostfrieslands. Die Stadt ist um das Jahr 800 als ein friesischer Handelsort entstanden. Bis heute ist Emden wesentlich durch den Seehafen geprägt. Bekannt ist Emden auch als Geburtsort der Komiker Otto Waalkes und Karl Dall. Beide Komiker wurden durch die Ostfriesenwitze, Filme und auch durch die Musik bekannt.
In meinem Greetsiel Video: Der Pilsumer Leuchtturm. Hier wurde die Komödie „Otto – Der Außerfriesische“ gedreht. Der Turm befindet sich in der Nähe von Greetsiel in Pilsum.

Unterwegs in der Krummhörn in Ostfriesland an der Nordseeküste. Zwischen Greetsiel und der Stadt Emden liegen idyllische Dörfer. Gebaut sind sie auf Warften, das sind künstliche Hügel. Die Warftendörfer mit ihren roten Backsteinhäusern, engen Straßen und bunten Vorgärten gehören zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten der Krummhörn.

Today we are visiting 9 German Christmas markets in different cities in basically 12 hours one day!
All of the cities are located in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany which makes it convenient to travel to them.
On this adventure I am not alone I am joined with 3 friends, plus Blitzen was the one who came up with this crazy idea. It sounded crazy enough to try it. And without these guys this video would not be possible ????
Our goals for each christmas market was to:
Take a picture with a christmas tree
Eat one Christmas market food. In final stop we took more then one since we were pretty hungry.
Since it was a Sunday the markets were open from 11.00 till 21.00 at best. So the time was limited. Initially we wanted to go to ten but with the trains being inconsistent and this short time span it was just not possible.
Please note that time limitation in each market was very limited so we could not explore the full potential in each city like Cologne or Mulheim. So my final ranking was what it was :D

Emden ist eine Stadt im Nordwesten Niedersachsens und die größte Stadt Ostfrieslands. Es liegt an der Mündung der Ems am Nordufer des Dollart. Emden kann als Deutschlands Tor zum Meer bezeichnet werden. Der Emder Hafen und die Altstadt gehören zu den sehenswerten Orten.
Die Stadt entstand um 800 v. Chr. als friesisches Handelszentrum und ist noch heute maßgeblich von ihrem Hafen geprägt, der im 20. Jahrhundert die Grundlage für die Ansiedlung größerer Industrieunternehmen wie der Nordseewerke und der Volkswagenwerke bildete. Als einzige kreisfreie Stadt Ostfrieslands ist sie für die Region als Wirtschaftsstandort von großer Bedeutung. Seit 1973 ist die Stadt ein Universitätsort. Die Landesplanung des Landes Niedersachsen definiert Emden seit 2007 als Mittelzentrum mit dezentralen Funktionen.

Ostfriesland, Germany (Leer and Emden) on the North Sea
I enjoyed making this video about northwest Germany so much that I don’t even care if nobody else watches it. I have such great memories of my time there. I hope I can live there someday. Seeing the rich tea culture made me appreciate teatime that much more, and I now have a deeper understanding to why my family practiced afternoon tea growing up. Bünting and Thiele are the two main brands. The tea is accompanied with German rock sugar and very heavy cream. When the cream is added to the hot tea, it floats to the top making a beautiful flower in the cup. Our Airbnb was great, and we have the most awesome host and hostess!
