Hello and greetings from Ushuaia, Argentina where we'll cover the top things to do in this Ushuaia travel guide from this fascinating city at the end of the world! Today we’re going to be visiting the southernmost city in the world, located in the province of Tierra del Fuego at the very bottom of Argentina.
This was the final stop of our massive trip across Patagonia and we’ll be sharing some of the best things to do in Ushuaia during your visit. Join us as we cruise the Beagle Channel, ride the train to the end of the world, send a postcard from the southernmost post office, tour a former prison-turned museum, explore the city via double-decker bus, and more!

???????? Things to do in Ushuaia, Argentina ????????
1) Cruise the Beagle Channel
This is a great opportunity to see some wildlife like cormorants, penguins and sea lions! Bring your passport on the cruise because you can get a Beagle Channel stamp.
2) See the Lighthouse and End of the World
Often attributed as Jules Verne's lighthouse at the end of the world, this lighthouse's real name is Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse.
3) Admire the Penguins on Hammer Island
Not all tour operators are allowed to disembark at the penguin rookery, so in our case, we just admired them from the boat!
4) Go on a Double-Decker Bus Tour of Ushuaia
Picture an old-fashioned double-decker bus painted bright blue, and then get ready to be transported back through time as you set step aboard. Over the course of the tour you’ll get to learn about Ushuaia’s history and hear fun anecdotes, with a bit of tango music in between.
5) Visit the Prison at the End of the World
Ushuaia was founded as a penal colony and this prison was in operation between 1902 to 1947. Today, it houses multiple museums including the Prison Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Antarctic Museum, the Art Museum, and the Art Gallery.
6) Tour the Themed Gallery of Fuegian History
This is a museum featuring dioramas and lifelike figures that showcase the history of the province of Tierra del Fuego. The visit is done as a self-guided tour with an audio guide, so you can go at your own pace.
7) Visit the End of the World Museum
This museum deals with local history and natural history. The displays here focus on local wildlife and shipwreck remains.
8) Visit the Former Government House + Botanical Garden
Set in the former Government House, this museum has a couple of displays relating to its history, as well as a small botanical garden.
9) Sample the Local Cuisine
Ushuaia has lots of unique seafood dishes and the thing to try is the king crab!
10) Go on a Walk along the Harbour
Another thing we’d recommend doing in Ushuaia is walking along the Costanera, which is the boardwalk along the waterfront. You can see all sorts of vessels in the harbour, including cruises departing for Antarctica.
11) See the Saint Christopher
Once known as the HMS Justice, this was a Royal Navy ship classified as a rescue tug and it served at the Normandy landings during World War 2. After the war, the ship was sold and renamed Saint Christopher, where it was chartered for salvage operations in Beagle Channel.
12) Take a photo at the Ushuaia City Sign
This is an iconic photo-op to show you made it to the end of the world.
13) Hike in Tierra del Fuego National Park
This is a very easy day trip from Ushuaia seeing as the park is located just 12 kilometres west of the city. This park consists of subantarctic forest and boasts some dramatic landscapes featuring snow-capped mountains, forests, lagoons and pebbly coves. One of our favourite hikes was Senda Costera, which is the coastal trail along the Beagle Channel.
14) Visit Lapataia Bay
This part of the national park features 6 mini trails that are between 400 meters and 2 kilometres in length. They are very short hikes and easy.
15) Send mail from the Southernmost Post Office
This tiny post office sits atop a pier on the shores of the Beagle Channel and it’s the last chance to send mail before reaching Antarctica.
16) Ride the Train at the End of the World
Once upon a time, this was known as the train of prisoners, but today, the train has been developed into a heritage train and it’s considered the southernmost functioning railway in the world.
17) Take a Day trip to Tolhuin
This is a small town located an hour and a half away from Ushuaia. The main draw to this town is its famous bakery, where you can enjoy all sorts of pastries, empanadas, and even artisanal chocolates. Aside from that, there is a beautiful lake and a few hiking trails.

Patagonia's PERITO MORENO Glacier + Hiking LOS GLACIARES National Park (El Calafate, Argentina)
Today we're going hiking in Los Glaciares National Park and visiting the Perito Moreno Glacier, which is one of the few advancing glaciers in the world! Los Glaciares National Park is located in the province of Santa Cruz and it is Argentina’s largest national park. The landscapes here range from Patagonian steppe to Magellanic sub-polar forest with plenty of glaciers and icebergs thrown in for good measure. The park gets its name from the giant ice cap in the Andes, which feeds a total of 47 glaciers including the world-famous Perito Moreno Glacier.
And now let’s talk about the star of the show: the Perito Moreno Glacier. This glacier measures 5 km in length along its front and is 60 meters tall, however, if you also count the depth of the ice its height is closer to 170 meters! This glacier right here is the reason why so many people travel all the way down to southern Patagonia. Perito Moreno is also one of the few advancing glaciers in the world, so that alone is reason enough to visit.
Los Glaciares National Park is hands down one of the most impressive places that Sam and I have ever visited, and we couldn’t recommend it more highly! We spent hours walking the boardwalks and viewing the glacier from various vantage points, and it was pure magic!
In this video, we'll show you how you can visit the park independently (no tour necessary), and we'll show you what a day hiking in the park looks like. We hope you enjoy it!

The Carretera Austral is a 1200km long road in the south of Chile which connects the most remote areas of the country. The ruta 7 is a paradise for adventure seekers as it is a mostly unpaved road which brings you to the lesser known parts of Patagonia in the stunning Los Lagos and Aysen Region.
Our plan was to get from Puerto Montt till Villa O’Higgins by thumb to get in touch with locals and fellow adventurers along the way. After finishing this adventure in the last episode we wanted to get to El Chaltén in Argentina with a visit to the O’Higgins Glacier and an overnight stay at the Farm Candelario Mancilla.
To do the border crossing from Villa O’Higgins to El Chaltén one first needs to take a boat to cross the O’Higgins lake and get to Candelario Mancilla on the other side. We opted in for the additional boat excursion to see the O’Higgins Glacier and have some whisky with ice from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.
The next stretch we needed to hike for 22km to Laguna del Desierto where we took another boat to cross over to the southern shore where we spend the night camping before hitchhiking the remaining 37km to El Chaltén.
El Chaltén is the trekking capital of Argentina and one of the best spots for hiking and climbing in Patagonia. From the several hiking options in this area we chose the popular hike to Cerro Torre and Laguna Torre first before hiking to Fitz Roy and Laguna de los tres on another dayhike.
This part of the trip was executed within 1week by using altogether 2 boat, 1 bus and one car - following I list all the places we visited & Things to do in el Chalten:

Sagres é um Navio Alto Bric-barca Bergantin, Classe Gorch Fock, 89 metros de comprimento, utilizado pela Marinha Portuguesa para substituir o seu antigo navio Creoula. Duração: 17 minutos.
Os outros 2 navios atracados são, o veleiro russo Kruzenshtern e Fragata Libertad.

An unmissable view of the north side of the port of Buenos Aires ( Argentina ) from the river (towards Catalinas Norte, Retiro), next to 3 ¨tall ships ¨, and the visit on board the school ship NRP Sagres of the Marinha Portuguesa. En ésta ocasión, vamos a hacer una excursión en el emblemático crucero de Mar del Plata ANAMORA.
El Crucero Anamora es una embarcación turística que realiza excursiones marítimas por la costa marplatense. Tiene capacidad para 300 pasajeros que pueden ubicarse en cualquiera de sus tres cubiertas.
Además de disfrutar del paseo y de las extraordinarias vistas de la ciudad, los pasajeros podrán divertirse a toda música en la pista de baile, desayunar o merendar en la cubierta intermedia, o disfrutar de un exquisito cocktail en alguna de sus barras.
La duración del paseo es de una hora con diez minutos.
El pasaje se puede adquirir personalmente en la boletería del puerto, o bien en la página web de la empresa: y el precio difiere entre adultos y niños.

Un barco de ataque (FAC: del inglés Fast Attack Craft) o simplemente lancha rápida, es una pequeña embarcación que tiene un desplazamiento de entre 50 a 500 toneladas (aunque siempre hay excepciones), y desarrollan velocidades superiores a los 30 nudos. Suelen estar equipadas con misiles antibuque o torpedos.
El 21 de octubre del año 1967, dos lanchas lanzamisiles de fabricación soviética, del Proyecto 183R de la Clase “Komar”, de 70 toneladas de desplazamiento, en servicio con la armada de Egipto, lanzaron 4 misiles antibuque P-15 hundiendo al destructor israelí INS Eilat de 1,710 toneladas. Fue la primera vez en la historia que una lancha misilera lograba hundir un buque del tamaño de un destructor.
