The city of Zwickau in eastern Germany has a long and varied history of car production and industrial design. Its story is told in the August Horch Museum – beginning with the production of Horch cars, to Audis, to the East German car, the Trabant. On her trip to Zwickau, Hannah Hummel discovers the city’s car history, as well as its art and cultural history. Both the composer Robert Schumann and the expressionist painter and printmaker Max Pechstein were born in Zwickau. This episode of Destination Culture also takes viewers to Schneeberg – a creative hub in Saxony, where students from around the world study fashion and textile design.

Zwickau is a city located in the eastern part of Germany in the state of Saxony. Zwickau is the fourth-largest city of Saxony after Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz that we all visited here on POPtravel.
Zwickau has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages when it was an important trading center. Today, Zwickau is a medium-sized city with a population of around 90,000 people. It was also a center of the German textile industry during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The notable German composer Robert Schuman was born in the house on the corner of Zwickau's main market square in 1810.
We start our walking tour right at the Robert Schuman monument. As we walk through the city, we will see both the historical and modern aspects of Zwickau. There are many beautiful buildings in the city center, such as the Gothic-style St. Mary's Church, which dates back to the 15th century, and the Renaissance-style town hall, which was built in the 16th century.
We circle the city center, get out to the Schwanenteichpark in the western side of the city. Walking back to the city center we also see some street art. Our tour leads again through the city's streets towards to the Zwickauer Mulde on the eastern side of the city center. We walk a bit on the Muldenpromenade before we end our tour near our starting point - at Zwickau's market square.

Это город Цвиккау, который расположен в земле Саксония, Германия.
Население его составляет менее 100тыс человек.
Но несмотря на его скромные размеры здесь есть что посмотреть.
И конечно же визитной карточкой будет центр города, его исторический центр.
Почти все достопримечательности так или иначе связаны с музыкой, а точнее с Шуманом. Всё потому, что он здесь родился.
Поэтому лучше прогуляться по тропе Шумана, которая проходит по всем историческим местам города. На это вы потратите не более 2-3 часов.
Если конечно же не будете заходить в церкви и музеи)

Frankenstein Castle, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany
The red limestone ruins of Frankenstein Castle offer a view of the village and valley below; here you can get a good look at the castles neighboring church and cemetery.
The castle name first appeared in a document of 1146 mentioning the free nobleman (Edelfrei) Helenger of Frankenstein. But the first construction of the castle is assumed to be an earlier date because the erection of a defensive tower around 1100 is reported in multiple documents.
In 1205 the task to expand the castle was commissioned and the lone tower was expanded to a castle.
GERMANY: Waldeck Castle & Edersee Dam
Castle Waldeck is situated on top of a hill, above lake Edersee, offering a breathtaking view of the lake, the national park and the Kellerwald-Edersee nature reserve.
Waldeck castle rests on the remnants of an 11th-century fortification, towering over the town of Waldeck.
Formerly the ancestral seat and residence of the Counts of Waldeck, the fortification was later used as military barracks. In 1734 it was a state penitentiary, and in subsequent years was used as state archive, forestry office, and, as early as 1906, was put to use as a hotel. Today it belongs to the Waldeckian domanial administration and is public property. In September 2009, new leaseholder Volker Deigendesch reopened the redesigned Hotel Schloss Waldeck.
Edersee is a reservoir (man-made lake used to store water).
The Edersee Dam ('Edertalsperre') is a hydroelectric dam constructed between 1908 to 1914 across the Eder river. The dam is primarily used hydroelectric power generation and to regulate water levels for shipping on the Weser river.
Waldeck & Edersee are located in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg in Hesse, Germany.

Kanufahrt auf der Weißen Elster 2023
Wir waren auf der 61. Elsterfahrt mit dabei. Eine sehr gut organisierte Kanufahrt auf der Weißen Elster von Plauen bis Elsterberg mit WW II mit ca. 20 Paddelkilometer. Etwa in der Mitte gab es eine deftige Brotzeit bei der Barthmühle. Hat SUPER SPASS gemacht. Ein großes Dankeschön an die Organisatoren. Gerne wieder!

Plauener Vogelschießen 2023: Rundgang mit allen Attraktionen
Das Plauener Vogelschießen findet vom 26.05. bis 04.06.2023 auf dem Festplatz an der Festhalle statt. Geöffnet ist täglich ab 14.00 Uhr. Die Highlights auf dem Platz sind Project X, Airforce, U3000 und eine nagelneu gestaltete Schlittenfahrt. Des weiteren gibt es auch einen Familientag mit reduzierten Preisen und ein Feuerwerk. Ein Besuch sollte sich auf jeden Fall lohnen.

Klingenthal - Germany
Klingenthal is a town in the Vogtland region, in the Free State of Saxony, south-eastern Germany. It is situated directly on the border with the Czech Republic opposite the Czech town of Kraslice, 29 km southeast of Plauen, and 33 km northwest of Karlovy Vary.
The Aschberg (cinder mountain) towers above the town at 936 m. The extremely elongated town, 10.5 km from end to end, is surrounded by numerous woods of firs.
The town is bisected by the Döbra and Zwota rivers. These two rivers unite at the Czech-German border to form the Svatava river, which in turn flows into the Ohře river at Sokolov.
