You Wouldn’t Believe This is Nicaragua (Big Corn Island Tour)

In this Nicaragua Travel Vlog I take you to the best place to visit in Central America for a Big Corn Island Tour. The Corn Islands are two secret Nicaraguan islands located in the middle of the Caribbean sea. Big Corn Island and Little Corn Island are no doubt, the best place to visit in Nicaragua and are truly a Nicaraguan paradise. Big Corn Island is home to a unique cultural where the locals typically speak Spanish, Creole, and English and eat a ton of delicious seafood and coconut infused dishes.

In this Big Corn Island Tour I take you around the island on my scooter, showing you all the best things to do on Big Corn Island. To start off my tour of Big Corn Island Nicaragua I climb for amazing views of the Caribbean sea. After getting back on my scooter, I ended up stumbling upon an abandoned home with incredible views of the Caribbean and tall palm trees. After some delicious food for lunch and dinner, I eventually make my way over to Arenas Beach Hotel and Arenas Beach, which is home to the best beach on the island with soft white sand and turquoise blue water. This beach is perfect for swimming and relaxing, and is even home to some great snorkeling if you walk further down the beach. I end my time on Big Corn Island with the famous island dish called Rundown, which is a delicious coconut seafood stew.

I hope that after watching my Big Corn Island Vlog you can now see why the Corn Islands are the best place to visit in Nicaragua!

TRANSCRIPT:

Hey guys, this is Samantha and welcome to another Mytanfeet video. in this video We are going to do part 1 of day trips in Guanacaste and these are going to be the best day trips from Tamarindo, Playas del Coco or any of the neighboring beaches. We have a lot to share with you so let's go.

Number one on our list is Rio Celeste, the sky blue river inside Tenorio Volcano National Park. Rio Celeste is the perfect day trip for hiking and nature lovers, as you will be trekking through the lush rainforest to see the waterfall and sky blue river. The entire trail is around 6 kilometers or 3.5 miles and is a must see in Costa Rica.

The next best day trip in Guanacaste is Diamante Eco Adventure Park. This adventure park is excellent for families as they have an animal sanctuary with daily sloth feeding presentations, a traditional house for a cultural experience of chocolate, coffee and sugar cane and one of the most exciting ziplining tours in the country. Their 1.3 kilometer oceanview zipline is a must do in Costa Rica for adrenaline junkies. They also offer an excellent lunch buffet.

Next is one of our most highly recommended day trips from Playas del Coco or Tamarindo, Palo Verde National Park. The Palo Verde day trip consists of a safari boat tour down the Tempisque River to see wildlife such as iguanas, bats, monkeys, crocodiles and river birds. It doesn't require any strenuous activity so Palo Verde is the perfect day trip in Guanacaste for those who are visiting with seniors or young kids as you will be riding a covered motorized riverboat and it takes about half a day so you can be back at your hotel by mid afternoon. Palo Verde offers a highly interesting and educational wildlife watching experience for all visitors.

The next day trip in Guanacaste is for the surfers, a surf trip to Witch's Rock. There are a ton of surfing beaches in Guanacaste including Tamarindo but for those looking for the ultimate surf experience, a Witch's Rock surf trip is a must. You'll boat about an hour from Playas del Coco to the iconic surf spot inside Santa Rosa National Park and on heavy days with a swell, waves can get up to 6 feet or more, ideal for those dreaming of getting barrelled in Costa Rica. On normal days, waves are absolutely perfect for longboarding and shortboarding, with long, open and glassy A-frame waves.

The last day trip in this video is the La Leona waterfall hike. This waterfall hike is only 30 minutes from Liberia and you'll be hiking in the tropical dry forest, swimming in a beautiful blue river and climbing through caves and canyons to get to a hidden cave waterfall. The La Leona waterfall hike is definitely for those looking for a memorable outdoor activity and after the fun hike, you can relax in their natural blue river pools.

I hope you guys enjoyed the video and if you're interested in any of these activities, we have links to our posts in the description below for more details and you can contact us if you want to book any of these tours. Thanks for watching and we'll see you in the next one.

Famous NICARAGUAN FOOD at Mi Viejo Ranchito in Catarina, Nicaragua!!

????????VISIT NICARAGUA:
????????CARLOS:
???? MY TRAVEL/FOOD BLOG:

After exploring Masaya, I headed just outside of the city to the village of Catarina. We were there to visit one of the best restaurants in the country! Come with me as we try some famous Nicaraguan food at Mi Viejo Ranchito in Catarina, Nicaragua!

We were getting the opportunity to head into the kitchen to see them make a couple of dishes. Then, we’d get to try tons of traditional dishes! I couldn’t wait to eat!

???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:

The restaurant is rustic, beautiful, elegant, and traditional. It has high ceilings and a few dining halls and terraces. We started with an Oktober Fest filtered artisanal beer, which was ice-cold and refreshing!

Then, I headed into the kitchen with Carlos from Visit Nicaragua to watch them make the indio viejo, which is a Nicaraguan beef stew.

She started with butter and diced onions in a large pot, followed by tomatoes and green peppers. Then they add diced rib meat of the rooster. Then, she adds tortillas cooked in beef broth to a blender, blends it to the right consistency. It can’t be too thin or too thick!

The mixture then gets mixed into the other ingredients in the huge pot. It looked like thick grits with vegetables and beef! Then, she mixed in sweet cream, fresh mint, and orange juice. It tasted so good already!

Then, she cut up and fried some plantains while the stew simmered. She fried them and flattened them while they were still hot. Then, she fried the flattened plantains again!

They serve the indio viejo on a plate with a leaf, with more mint on top, and the tostones and white cheese on the side.

Next, she started on the caballo bayo, which is a big plate almost like an Indian thali! You get mashed beans with onion, pico de gallo, cream, pulled chicken, chorizo, pulled calf, pork rinds, sweet plantains, moronga, and more, with tortillas on the side.

Then, she started on the buñuelos. She took yuca batter mixed with eggs, making little dumplings, and fried them. Once they’re golden brown, she drains them of oil and pours honey mixed with cinnamon and sugar over them.

Back out in the restaurant, they made us some tieste, which is a drink made from ground corn, sugar, and cacao. Then, it was time to eat!

The indio viejo reminded me of cheese grits with vegetables and mint. I loved it with the chunks of meat, onions, tomatoes, and green peppers. The tostones were really nice and not too oily.

Putting the indio viejo on the tostones with the white cheese was to die for. The cheese was so fresh! I was loving that the Nicaraguan food I’d had on this trip was so diverse and different everywhere I’d gone!

Then, we jumped on the caballo bayo. You add everything to the tortilla and make a little taco. It was a true flavor explosion in my mouth! It was creamy, fresh, earthy, and meaty. It was too good!

Next was some Sköl beer, which was strong and sweet, and had a strong honey flavor!

The buñuelos were crispy and golden brown on the outside, with a pudding-like consistency on the inside! What an amazing time at the best restaurant in Nicaragua!
