Greetings from Lüneburg, Germany! Today, we’re going to be visiting a town that rose to prosperity during the Middle Ages thanks to salt, AKA white gold. This is a legacy that is still visible today, namely in the form of dipping streets and leaning buildings, but we’ll get to that part a bit later in the video. In today’s tour, we’ll show you where to get the best panoramic views of Lüneburg, we’ll admire that Gothic red-brick architecture that dominates the town, we’ll walk along the river and spot the old medieval crane, we’ll sample some unique chocolate flavours (including salt - the local favourite), and we’ll finish the day with some hearty dishes in a cozy German pub. Auf ihrer Reise probiert Judith Rakers einige der vielen Wander- und Reitwege aus, besucht einen Legobauern in der Hansestadt Lüneburg und brennt bei klassischer Musik Gin mit Heidekräutern. Abenteuerlich wird nicht nur eine Kräuterwanderung am Rande eines Truppenübungsplatzes der NATO, sondern auch ihr erster Versuch beim Schnitzen mit der Kettensäge. Im Barfußpark in Egestorf erlebt sie die Lüneburger Heide mit allen Sinnen. Und beim Fotografieren im Morgengrauen herrscht eine nahezu mystische Stimmung.
Sandheiden und Kiefernwälder prägen die Landschaft der Lüneburger Heide. Ihre sandigen Böden, ebenen Flächen und weichen Waldböden sind bei Wanderer:innen, Radfahrenden und Reiter:innen gleichermaßen beliebt. Zur Blütezeit im Spätsommer ziehen unzählige Planwagen und Kutschen über die gelbsandigen Wege. Reiterhöfe bieten Tages- und auch mehrtägige Ausritte durch die Heide an. Neben fast 1.500 Kilometer Reitwegen gibt es in den Naturschutzgebieten auch unzählige Wanderwege. Der bekannteste und vom Deutschen Wanderverband ausgezeichnete ist der Heidschnuckenweg. Die 223 Kilometer zwischen Hamburg und Celle zählen zu den schönsten in Deutschland.

Germany's Hidden Gem! This is Lüneburger Heide (+ an incredible barefoot park)
Our final leg of our summer van trip takes us to Lüneburger Heide! No, we never really had this high on a bucket list when we first made it to Germany, but many of you recommended paying a visit that we decided to do just that. The heath bloom was beautiful to see, and timed quite well with our travel itinerary. Although the area is much to big to explore in just a day or two, we still loved our experience walking and riding through the outdoor nature preserve and seeing such a unique are in Germany.
Did you also know there is a very large barefoot park as well? We had never heard of these type of parks before our time in Europe, but we loved visiting the Barfußpark Lüneburger Heide in Egestorf! Walking through mud, glass, grass, and rocks was a fun experience for us all and a happy coincidence that we stumbled upon it.

COLOSSOS POV - Prefabricated Wooden Coaster - Heide Park
Colossos: Kampf der Giganten is an Intamin 'plug-and-play' wooden coaster built at the Heide Park amusement park in Germany. 4K Ultra-HD, 60fps on-ride POV. No trim front-row ride. The roller coaster had a major overhaul in 2019 with new effects and theming elements as well as a major track overhaul costing over $10 million. It is also likely the smoothest wooden coaster ever built. Colossos features prefabricated track, meaning that the pieces snap together to create an ultra-smooth ride experience.
El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure, T Express at Everland, as well as Balder at Liseberg are the three other pre-fabricated roller coasters by the Swiss company, all rated as some of the best attractions in the world. #RollerCoaster #HeidePark #ThemePark

Located way to the east of Essen, Germany, in fact, 7 hours by car to the east, are 2 bridges that are considered very iconic in Germany. We had been dreaming of seeing these bridges for years while living in Germany, and we were finally able to make those dreams come true!
Both structures were absolutely amazing to be sure, however, we might have to suggest that you have more reason to go to Sachsen, Germany than just these 2 features. Ultimately though, if you find yourself near the eastern border of Germany, these are two places you probably need to check out!
