Top things to do in Block Island, Rhode Island
Block Island is one of the best islands in the East Coast. Located 12 miles off the mainland in the Atlantic Ocean , block island is famous for beautiful beaches , crystal clean waters , dramatic bluffs and delicious food. Block Island can be reached by ferry from different places such as Rhode Island , Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York etc. You can also fly to Block Island by helicopter charters.
Start your journey with taking a stroll in the old harbor district . The Main Street is the Water Street with hotels welcoming tourist for more than 100 years to different boutique shops and restaurants.The best way to explore the island is to rent a bike or a moped. There are multiple businesses in the island which rent bikes and mopeds. We rented from Island Moped, located on the water street just in front of the ferry terminal.Once you have a bike or moped , you can explore the island easily.
Climb down 141 stairs to the beach and see the famous Mohegan Bluffs.
The Mohegan Bluffs are large clay cliffs about 150 feet high, located on the southern shore of Block Island. There are 2 lighthouses on the Island , the North Lighthouse and the Southeast Lighthouse. Both the light houses can be easily accessed.
Crescent Beach , Mansion Beach and the Ballards beach are some of the popular beaches in Block Island. Ballards beach club located on the Ballard beach provided good food and drinks. You can also rent chairs and umbrellas. This is a good place to spend some leisure time on the beach.
Block Island has more than 30 miles of hiking trails. Some of the popular trails are Clay Head Preserve, the Enchanted Forest, Nathan Mott Park, Rodman's Hollow and Turnip Farm.

We kicked off our adventure around 10 am from Burlingame Campground after a camping experience in Charlestown. Due to some oversights like parking and booking, we missed our initial ferry, but we managed to catch the next one after an hour. Learn from our experience and plan ahead by checking parking and schedule details beforehand.
????️ Parking Insights:
Public and private parking options near the ferry terminal are available at varying prices. I paid $20 for a day, but rates can differ based on location. Check for more details and options.
