Historical Background
1. Bethel is mentioned sixty times in the Bible, representing over thirty distinct stories and prophecies, all found in the Old Testament. Only Jerusalem is mentioned more times in the Bible than Bethel.
2. Bethel means “House of God.”
3. The site of Bethel, the close-by sites of Abraham and Jacob, and the high place are all holy to Christians, Jews, and Muslims. They have artifacts, buildings, tombs, and ruins pertaining to each religion.
Places of Interest
1. The site where Abraham and Jacob pitched their tents and built altars.
There are ruins at this site which provide strong evidence that this was the place Abraham and Jacob pitched their tents and built altars. Later, a Byzantine church was erected here, marking this spot. Jerome (347-420 AD), an early Christian leader, confirms this. He wrote the following about this site: There is also a church built where Jacob slept as he passed to Mesopotamia.
2. The original city of Bethel.
This site was once excavated and revealed ancient Bethel's walls, buildings, and remains. It has since been abandoned and filled in by those living in the area. However, some remains can still be seen in various places.
3. The high place of worship.
1. Muslim Prayer Shrine
2. Crusader Chapel
3. 1,000-year-old oak tree, and other ancient trees (trees were never cut at holy sites).
4. Walls of a Byzantine Church
5. Walls & towers of protection – these would have been used during times of war between Judah and Israel after the nation divided.
6. Burial Tombs
7. Ruins of a foundation measuring the exact size of the tabernacle.
8. Jeroboam’s Golden-Calf Altar
Bethel in the Bible
1. It was near Bethel that Abraham built one of the first altars mentioned in the Bible, and there he: “invoked the name of the Lord.” Genesis 12:8
2. After Abraham fled to Egypt to escape a famine in the Holy Land, he returned to the same place near Bethel, and once again invoked the name of the Lord. Genesis 13:2–4
3. When Jacob was fleeing from his brother Esau, he stopped for the night at Bethel, where he had a dream. Genesis 28:10–22
4. When Jacob was in Paddan-aram, God told him to return to the land of Israel.
Genesis 31:13: I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me; now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your birth.
5. After Jacob returned to the Holy Land, he moved to Bethel to live. God spoke to him and changed his name from Jacob to Israel. Genesis 35:1, Genesis 35:9-15
6. Bethel was a place the tabernacle resided for some time during the period of the Judges. Judges 20:26–27
7. After the Kingdom of Israel was divided, Jeroboam, the king of the northern kingdom, set up golden calves in Bethel and Dan. 1 Kings 12:26–29
8. God warned Jeroboam about erecting the golden calves at Bethel. Jeroboam’s arm withered and was then restored by a prophet to show Jeroboam that God was serious about his great sin. However, Jeroboam did not heed God’s warning. 1 Kings 13:1–34
9. The continual disobedience of Jeroboam, and the succeeding kings, sealed the fate of Bethel. By the time of Jesus’ birth, Bethel had completely faded away as a place of importance and is not mentioned anywhere in the New Testament.
10. Josiah, a righteous king, destroyed the Golden-Calf Altar Jeroboam erected at Bethel. 2 Kings 23:15
11. Just before Elijah ascended to heaven, he and Elisha were in Bethel. 2 Kings 2:1–3
12. After Assyria conquered and exiled the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the king of Assyria sent one of the captured Israelite priests back to Bethel to teach the people from other nations who lived in Israel how to worship Yahweh, the true and living God. 2 Kings 17:24–41
Faith Lesson from Bethel
1. Bethel was a place of two different kinds of responses to God.
It was a place where Abraham and Jacob had special encounters with God and worshiped Him, and a place where the Ark of the Covenant dwelt, which represented the presence and glory of God.
Unfortunately, it also represents a place of disobedience to God and the worship of false gods and idols.
2. We could learn a great lesson from this biblical site of Bethel.
3. Are we going to be like those who worshiped and obeyed God, or like those who disobeyed and worshiped their own desires and plans?

All the new cars have navigation systems that tell us how to get the places we want to go the best routes to take, and where the traffic is bad. I think they should start telling us where not to go and places to avoid. It should tell you things like “turn right in 500 yards to avoid a neighboorhood that is known for supplying illegal pharmaceuticals and tempory companionship.
Every city has them and they should be avoided. Since the land nav won’t tell you I will.
For this list, we are ranked by your chance of being a victim of a crime in a certain neighborhood. It is simple math, how many people live there vs. how many crimes committed. We will have people that think this is wrong. They always seem to think either their neighborhood is the worst in the country or it’s not as bad as I make it sound. Numbers don’t lie.
One thing I would like to point out is statistically you have more law-abiding, good people in all these neighborhoods, they just have some really motivated a-holes doing bad things.
So where are the most dangerous neighborhoods in all of America?

They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine and rainbows. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

12 Most Hated Places to Live in Wales
What are the most hated places in Wales? There are surely two sides to every coin. When you see the passion with which some people admire and love their homes in Wales and name nice seaside towns, dockyards, communities, villages, and hamlets in Wales, you will be left to wonder if there can ever be anywhere hated in Wales. Yet, there are places in Wales that are also passionately derided, mocked, and treated with utmost disdain. While doing our due diligence, we discover that some hated towns in Wales are not hated absolutely, not by all. In this video, we have compiled the list of the 12 most hated places to live in Wales. Please note that many of them are also among the worst towns in Wales.
12. Cwmbran
We’re kick-starting this in Cwmbran, a town in the county borough of Torfaen. A lot of terrible things have been said about the residents and the by fellow residents and outsiders. However, the main reason we are mentioning this town is the safety concern. While it might not top in the overall crime rates, you have to look more closely to find up to three towns of its status with a higher crime rate in Wales. Thus, this town is hated, not for environmental factors, but for human factors, occasioned by the residents.
11. Colwyn Bay
Colwyn Bay, a town, community, and seaside resort in Conwy County Borough on the northern coast has expanded to the point of becoming the second-largest community and business center in the north of Wales and the 14th largest in the whole of Wales. Yet, it has little or nothing to show for that economically. It’s a drab and miserable place to live. Compounding its woes are its high crime rates. Its beach is dirty and hasn’t shown anything for the efforts to make it better; the horrendous concrete building appears as if the last time it was maintained was 1970.
10. Aberdare
We once argued against the notion that this is a town loved by criminals. Yet, we can’t turn a blind high to the high crime rate of this town in the Cynon Valley area of Rhondda Cynon Taf. As of the last check, it’s the third most dangerous small town in Mid-Glamorgan. You just need to see what we’ve discovered about this town in our video about the 12 worst places to live. If it is conveniently and justifiably listed in that ranking, we all know that no one will love to live in one of the worst places.
9. Fairbourne
Fairbourne, a tiny village nestled between Snowdonia National Park and the Irish Sea has been begging for a slot on this ranking. The place is currently facing an existential crisis, no thanks to the high risk of future flooding as a result of climate change. A while ago, Natural Resources Wales (NRW), the organization in charge of flood management in Wales, spent £6.8m on strengthening 2.9 kilometers of concrete tidal defenses so that over 400 properties in the town can be protected from storm surges and flooding, and to complete other constructions. But we’re not happy to let you know that the Gwynedd Council, in charge of this village has said since 2014 that it couldn’t maintain flood defenses of the village indefinitely. By 2054 latest, the village will no longer be livable. Who would ever love to live in such a place?
8. Denbighshire
You might want to argue against the inclusion of Denbighshire on this list if you consider some of its towns like Llangollen, a community situated on the River Dee. However, when it comes to how good and convenient a place is for living, the entire county is generally hated, except for a pocket of towns there like Llangollen and Ruthin. Reviewers have not been generally kind to this county in the northeast of Wales.

Randolph is a town in Orange County, Vermont, United States. The town is a commercial center for many of the smaller, rural farming communities that surround it. When the area was originally settled there were three villages—Randolph Center, East Randolph and West Randolph—the current locations of the three fire departments. What is now the central village of the current town had previously been the village of West Randolph. With productive soil for cultivation, farming became an intensive industry. By 1830, when the population reached 2,743, between twelve and thirteen thousand sheep grazed its pastures. Randolph was noted for its good butter, cheese and mutton. Randolph's prosperity during the Victorian era endowed it with some fine architecture, including the Second Empire Randolph Railroad Depot and Renaissance Revival Kimball Public Library.
Bethel is a town in Windsor County, Vermont, United States. The town includes the locations of Bethel village, Bethel-Gilead, East Bethel, Lilliesville, Lympus, and West Bethel. Bethel is best known for being the source of Bethel White granite which was used to build Union Station (Washington, D.C.) and the National Museum of Natural History. Bethel was the first town created by the independent Republic of Vermont in 1779 and was named after the Biblical village of Bethel.
