About Mayotte: Mayotte is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and the coast of Mozambique. Its a department and region of France, though traditional Mayotte culture is most closely related to that of the neighboring Comoros islands. Dans cette vidéo, nous allons jeter un regard endetté sur l’un des territoires les plus imperceptibles ju du monde, Mayotte.
Mayotte est un département d'outre-mer et une région de France officiellement nommée département de Mayotte. Il se compose d'une île principale, Grande-Terre ou Maore, d'une île plus petite, Petite-Terre ou Pamanzi, et de plusieurs îlots autour de ces deux. Mayotte fait partie de l'archipel des Comores, situé dans le nord du canal du Mozambique dans l'océan Indien au large des côtes de l'Afrique du Sud-Est, entre le nord-ouest de Madagascar et le nord-est du Mozambique. Mayotte est néanmoins beaucoup plus prospère que les autres pays du canal du Mozambique, ce qui en fait une destination majeure pour l'immigration clandestine. La superficie de Mayotte est de 374 km2 et, avec ses 279.471 habitants selon les estimations officielles de janvier 2020, est très densément peuplée à 747 habitants par km2. La plus grande ville et préfecture est Mamoudzou sur Grande-Terre, mais l'aéroport international Dzaoudzi – Pamandzi est situé sur l'île voisine de Petite-Terre. Le territoire est également connu sous le nom de Maore, le nom natif de son île principale, en particulier par les partisans de son inclusion dans l'Union des Comores.

L'île était peuplée d'Afrique orientale voisine avec l'arrivée plus tardive des Arabes, qui ont apporté l'Islam et en 1500, le sultanat a été établi. Au 19ème siècle, Mayotte est conquise par Andriantsoly, ancien roi d'Iboina sur Madagascar, puis par les îles voisines Mohéli puis Anjouan avant d'être rachetée par la France en 1841. Il y a encore de nombreux aspects de ce territoire qui sont passionnants et donc pourquoi nous vous apportons 10 choses que vous ne saviez probablement pas sur Mayotte.
1. Mayotte n'est pas une nation indépendante
En 1500, le sultanat Maore a été établi sur l'île, en 1503, Mayotte a été observée et nommée par les explorateurs portugais, mais non colonisée. L'île a connu plusieurs époques de richesse notamment au 11ème siècle à Acoua ou entre le 9ème et le 12ème siècle à Dembéni, étant une partie importante de la culture de la côte swahili, c'est pourquoi certaines de ses langues natales ressemblent au swahili. Cependant, son île sœur Anjouan a été préférée par les commerçants internationaux en raison de sa meilleure aptitude aux grands bateaux, et, pendant longtemps, Mayotte est restée peu développée par rapport aux trois autres îles des Comores, souvent la cible de pirates et de raids malgaches ou comoriens. La France a pris le contrôle colonial de Mayotte en 1843, ce qui en fait la plus peuplée des quatre îles Comores de l'océan Indien au large du Mozambique en Afrique. En juillet 2000, 70% des électeurs ont choisi d'accepter une plus grande autonomie mais de rester une partie de la France. Lors d'un référendum de 2009, les électeurs ont approuvé à une large majorité l'accession au statut de département. En fait, 95% ont voté en faveur du statut de département. Le 31 mars 2011, Mayotte est devenue un département d'outre-mer. Un département d'outre-mer fait partie de la France qui est situé ailleurs, pas une partie de la France métropolitaine. Le résultat des référendums des habitants de Mayotte en faveur du changement du statut de l'île de «communauté d'outre-mer» française au 101e département de France impliquait que sa loi islamique traditionnelle non officielle, appliquée dans certains aspects de la vie quotidienne vie, sera progressivement abolie et remplacée par le code civil français uniforme. Le 1er janvier 2014, Mayotte devait faire partie de l'Union européenne, ce qui fera de Mayotte la région ultrapériphérique de l'Union européenne.

Welcome to this special plane spotting video! A video, taken at Dzaoudzi airport on the French island Mayotte. Between some work I had a day off, and what way to spend it better than doing some spotting :) In the morning I filmed the Air Austral 787 departure (the aircraft that brought me to this island), later in the afternoon/evening I filmed the Corsair A330 departure and Air Austral 777 arrival.
