For the Japanese, it’s shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). For the Dutch, it’s uitwaaien (out-blowing); a kind of “wind bath”. They address the need for exposure to the elements as a form of self-care, allowing one to clear their mind and feel refreshed.
In both instances, access for everyone is accommodated, and not just those with access to cars.

Museum Paulina Bisdom van Vliet is located in a small town called Haastrecht, about 40 mins drive from Leiden.
The museum is an authentically furnished house where you wander from room to room seeing the most beautiful pottery, pieces of furniture, paintings, and lavishly decorated curtains.
As this place is less touristic, it really feels like you are visiting a wealthy family.

Flashback Friday: Take a Stroll Around the Beautiful De Haar Castle Gardens
Join me for Flashback Friday. Once a week I will share a classic tour so that the community can watch together.
The incredible De Haar Castle is located near Utrecht and is the largest castle in the Netherlands. Designed by Pierre Cuypers, this opulent 19th-century castle was once the residence of the Van Zuylen family and was visited by many celebrities during the 1960s.
This enchanting fairy-tale castle is set in its own extensive English landscape inspired parkland and is surrounded by some very beautiful French-style geometric gardens. On this tour, I am going to take you on a gentle walk through the gardens, and around the park. Together we will pass over quaint little bridges and along tree-lined avenues. We may even catch a glimpse of some deer, as the park is home to a number of these majestic creatures. If we are lucky, we will be able to take some beautiful postcards of these delightful animals against the stunning backdrop of the castle parklands.

Het kerkplein van Driebergen-Rijsenburg is uniek in Nederland:. Centraal staat de katholieke kerk. Daarom heen een halve cirkel met arbeiderswoningen uit de Napoleontische tijd. Ertegenover het Wapen van Rijsenburg, een voormalig rechthuis.

N225 - Driebergen Zeist (NL-2019)
De omgeving van station Driebergen-Zeist ondergaat een metamorfose. Er komen meer treinsporen, de perrons worden langer, er wordt een nieuw busstation aangelegd en de provinciale weg N225 wordt via een nieuwe tunnel onder het spoor doorgeleid.
Op 16 december 2019 is een mijlpaal bereikt: alle vier rijstroken in de tunnel zijn nu beschikbaar voor het verkeer. Tegelijkertijd is de spoorwegovergang in de Odijkerweg (aan de westkant van het station) gesloten.

The area surrounding Driebergen-Zeist station is undergoing a metamorphosis. There will be more train tracks, the platforms will be longer, a new bus station will be constructed and the N225 provincial road will be passed via a new tunnel under the track.
A milestone was reached on December 16, 2019: all four lanes in the tunnel are now available for traffic. At the same time, the railway crossing in the Odijkerweg (on the west side of the station) is closed.
Bornia Estate, Driebergen, The Netherlands - Together with You, hiking a 5.5km trail
Bornia
Hidden in the forest near Zeist lies Estate Bornia. It’s is a nature reserve in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug and managed by the Utrechts Landschap since 1982.
An 5.5km marked trail takes you through the varied forest with characteristic pine and remnants of historic estates
It is affiliated with Estate Heidestein, where you can find very impressive & outstretched heather fields.
So empty and wide, all of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, looked like over a hundred years ago. A flock of Drenthe Heath Sheep, the oldest sheep kind in Western Europe, grazes on both estates. In an old sheepfold at Estate Heidestein, you can find the Utrecht Landscape Information.

Bornia.
Verscholen in de bossen bij Zeist ligt Landgoed Bornia. Het is een natuurgebied in de gemeente Utrechtse Heuvelrug, het wordt sinds 1982 beheerd door Het Utrechts Landschap.
Een 5.5km gemarkeerde wandelroute voert je door het afwisselende bos met karakteristieke dennen en overblijfselen van historische landgoederen
Het ligt aangesloten met Landgoed Heidestein, waar zich zeer indrukwekkende en uitgestrekte heidevelden bevinden. Zo leeg en weids zag de hele Utrechtse Heuvelrug er ruim honderd jaar geleden uit. Een kudde Drentse heideschapen, het oudste schapenras in West-Europa, graast op beide landgoederen. In een oude schaapskooi, op Landgoed Heidestein, kun je het informatiecentrum van Utrechts Landschap vinden.

Avond van de Duurzaamheid - 10/11/10 in Antropia Driebergen
Videoverslag van de Avond van de Duurzaamheid die cultuur- en congrescentrum Antropia op 10 november 2010 organiseerde.
Duurzaamheid is doorgebroken. Vrijwel elke organisatie is er op een of andere manier mee bezig. En vrijwel elke organisatie wil er op een of andere manier over vertellen. Ondertussen blijkt uit recent onderzoek dat het draagvlak voor duurzaamheid lijkt af te nemen en ook binnen ons kersverse kabinet - nota bene onder leiding van een premier die zichzelf ooit als 'groen rechts' betitelde - lijkt er weinig ambitie om vol voor verduurzaming te gaan.
Is er sprake van 'MVO moeheid' of moeten we de boodschap anders formuleren?
Op de Avond van de Duurzaamheid ging men op zoek naar het antwoord. Inspirerende experts laten hun licht schijnen op de beeldvorming rond duurzaamheid en gaven concrete tips over hoe het nog beter kan. Tips waar de deelnemers meteen mee aan de slag gingen tijdens pressure cooker sessies onder leiding van captains of industry. Daarnaast was er voldoende ruimte voor ontmoeting, tijdens het dinerbuffet en de afsluitende borrel.
Sprekers
Trendwatcher Tom Kniesmeijer vergeleek de tijdgeest met de cyclus van de seizoenen. Hij legde uit dat duurzaamheid één van de nieuwe paradigma's binnen de economie en de cultuur kán worden. Communicatie is daarbij essentieel.
Het gaat er om de juiste toon te treffen, aansluitend bij de tijdgeest.
Jeroen Meijering van marketingadviesbureau b-open vertelde over de totstandkoming en de conclusies van Dossier Duurzaam. Uit dit consumentenonderzoek blijkt dat duurzaamheid in populariteit lijkt af te nemen.
Marketeer en communicatieadviseur Joyce Meuzelaar pleitte voor oorspron- kelijkheid en eerlijkheid in de marketing. Alleen op die manier kunnen bedrijven en organisaties werkelijk geloofwaardig zijn.
Pressure cooker sessies
Drie onderwerpen, drie teamcaptains. Met de lessen van de sprekers op zak formuleerden de deelnemers in drie groepen communicatiedoelstellingen voor drie belangrijke sectoren. Elk team kreeg zijn eigen teamcaptain:
Nel Sangers, plaatsvervangend directeur van Staatsbosbeheer, leidde de sessie over biodiversiteit; Thomas Rau, architect en oprichter oneplanetarchitecture institute, was teamcaptain van het team dat zich boog over de communicatie rond het gebruik van grondstoffen en cradle to cradle; Matthijs Bierman, directeur van Triodos Bank, richtte zich met zijn gelegen- heidsteam op de communicatie rond het thema duurzame economie en ondernemerschap.
Panelgesprek
De werkgroepen legden de uitkomsten van de pressure cooker sessies voor aan een panel, bestaande uit de sprekers en aangevuld met hoogleraar milieukunde Klaas van Egmond en Wouter de Jong, gedeputeerde van de Provincie Utrecht. Willem Lageweg, directeur MVO Nederland, was een inspirerende gespreksleider.

Ijsschaatsen in Driebergen - jan 2010
With the temperatures going down to 10 degrees below zero during the night, the ice eventually forms everywhere and that's when the fun can start! Just before Christmas and again in January this weekend we had the delightful opportunity to go onto the ice again! For 1 euro, the kids can enjoy the field which has been frozen over by a layer of water roughly 15 cm thick.
