Driving Germany: B10 Ulm - Stuttgart - 4K scenic drive through Swabian Alb and Fils valley
After driving some time ago on the A8 between Ulm and Stuttgart, decided this time to deeper explore the nice area of The Swabian Plateau and Fils valley, while driving on the B10 national road. The landscape is very nice, and there are also some very interesting towns on the way, like Geislingen an der Steige, Göppingen and Esslingen. We reach Stuttgart towards the end of he drive, one of the most relevant cities for car manufacturing worldwide (Mercedes-Benz and Porsche have their headquarters here).

Ulm is a city in the south German state of Baden-Württemberg & one that we've had on our bucket list for quite some time! In the center of the historic old town is the huge Gothic Ulm Minster. Its steeple has views of the city and, in clear weather, the Alps! We didn't go up to the top due to construction, but the experience is highly recommended.
Germany is known for its half-timbered houses and Ulm has so many of them in the narrow alleys of the Fischerviertel. While here make sure to walk along the city wall next to the River Danube, and definitely try some Swabian food! :) It's a wonderful city and we now understand why everyone loves Ulm! :)

Prepare to get dizzy as we climb up the world's tallest church - Ulm Minster. Ulm Cathedral (Ulmer Münster) is a Lutheran church located in Ulm, Germany. It is the world's tallest church, pending the eventual completion of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. Ulm Minster has a steeple measuring 161.5 metres (530 ft).
Visitors to Ulm Cathedral can climb all 768 steps that lead to the top of the minster's spire. There is a fantastic panoramic view at 143 m (469 ft), giving an amazing view of of Ulm in Bavaria. On a clear day, you can see the Alps.
Today we climb up Ulm Minster, then enter inside the intricate church and see how grand it truly is!

In this video you can drive along on the B10 and B28 through the city of Ulm in Southern Germany. This route through Ulm carries a lot of through traffic that comes from the A8 connecting to the A7 in the Southern direction. Depending on traffic it's often the shorter option.
Ulm is a typical university city with a young population and is located on the border of Baden-Württemberg - Bavaria. Neu-Ulm is located in Bavaria, while Ulm is in Baden-Württemberg. Ulm has about 130.000 inhabitants and was first established in the pre-medieval era. It's known for having the world's highest church tower at 162 meters and it's also the birthplace of famous Albert Einstein.

Ulm stadt an der junge Donau
Ulm is een stad in de Duitse deelstaat Baden-Württemberg die 119.218 inwoners telt. De stad ligt aan de Donau, die vanaf hier bevaarbaar is, bij de monding van de Iller. Beide rivieren vormen hier de grens met Beieren. Ulm is beroemd vanwege de hoogste kerktoren ter wereld (die van de gotische munsterkerk, 161,5 m hoog, voltooid in 1890) en als geboortestad van Albert Einstein, die er werd geboren op 14 maart 1879.
De stad is een mix van moderne en historische gebouwen. Ulm ligt grotendeels op de linkeroever van de Donau. De historische binnenstad, een van de grootste in Zuid-Duitsland, leed tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog grote schade. Een groot deel van de binnenstad bestaat sindsdien uit naoorlogse gebouwen. Enkele zwaar beschadigde gebouwen werden geheel of gedeeltelijk herbouwd. Daartoe behoren het raadhuis (1370, raadhuis sinds 1419) en het Schwörhaus uit 1612. De gotische munsterkerk leed weinig schade.
De bouw van de munsterkerk, die zich in het noorden van het centrum bevindt, begon in 1377. Het gebouw met zijn hoogste kerktoren ter wereld werd pas in 1890 voltooid. De munsterkerk kwam in 1530 in protestantse handen en heeft daarmee een tweede record in handen: het is de grootste protestantse kerk ter wereld.

Driving Germany: B28 Ulm - Tübingen - 4k scenic drive Swabian Alb
Welcome to a roadtrip on the german national road B28, between the beautiful cities of Ulm and Tübingen. We start in Ulm, famous for having the highest church steeple in the world and being the birthplace of Albert Einstein. After leaving the Danube valley, where the nice city is located, we are crossing a nice hilly landscape on the way, first through the valley of the river Blau, and then climbing through the Swabian Alb region to the european watershed between Danube and Rhine, at over 800m altitude. After some kilometers on the high plateau, we descend to Bad Urach, a beautiful historical and spa town. From here it's not much until reaching Tübingen, one of the most beautiful german cities, famous for its university and the old town.

STREET VIEW: Innenstadt von Ulm in GERMANY
Wir starten unseren Rundgang durch Ulm mit Blick auf den berühmten Münsterturm. Er ist der höchste auf der Welt und deshalb nur schwer ins Bild zu bekommen. Es geht weiter über den Münsterplatz und einmal um das Münster herum, bevor wir die Umlaufbahn in Richtung Ulmer Rathaus und Marktplatz verlassen. Durch den Metzgerturm gehen wir hinunter bis zum Donauufer mit Blick auf Neu-Ulm. Unter der Metzig und den Weinhof geht es dann in Richtung Fischerviertel. Durch die Fischergasse gehen wir hinunter bis zum Setra-Museum und dann durch die Schwörhausgasse unter der Neuen Straße hindurch in die Lautengasse. Anschließend geht es über die Glöcklergasse in die Hirschstraße zurück auf den Münsterplatz.
