We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.
We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

DOMAŽLICE - Czech Republic
Domažlice (německy Taus) jsou okresní město v Plzeňském kraji a tradiční centrum regionu Chodsko. Je vzdáleno 53 km jihozápadně od Plzně a 14 km severovýchodně od HP Folmava/Furth im Wald. Historicky cenné městské centrum je městskou památkovou rezervací. Nejstarší psané zmínky o Domažlicích se datují ke konci 10. století, kdy zde existovala osada, které později Přemysl Otakar II. udělil městská práva. Roku 1231 bylo město obehnáno hradbami, aby tak bylo zabezpečeno před vpády z Bavorska. V 60. letech 13. století byly Domažlice povýšeny na královské město a místní hrad se stal sídlem purkrabího, pod jehož pravomoc náležely i svobodné chodské vsi. Roku 1373 byly předměstí a okolní vsi vypáleny bavorskými vojsky.
V období husitských válek se město přidalo na stranu Táboritů. V srpnu roku 1431 bylo obléháno vojsky čtvrté křížové výpravy v čele s markrabětem Fridrichem Braniborským a kardinálem Juliánem Cesarinim, jež 14. srpna mezi Domažlicemi a městečkem Kdyně porazily spojené husitské svazy pod velením Prokopa Holého (bitva u Domažlic). V období pozdní gotiky byl vylepšen městský obranný systém, přičemž došlo k výstavbě kruhové hlásky na náměstí, jež dodnes tvoří klasickou dominantu Domažlic. Z roku 1592 pak pochází nejstarší vyobrazení města, podle něhož se dají vysledovat proměny centrální zástavby.
V 15. a 16. století vládlo městu několik rodů. Počátkem 17. století se Domažlice i přilehlé obce připojily ke stavovskému povstání, na které po Bílé hoře navázalo povstání Chodů. V centru města se nachází historické jádro s měšťanskými domy ze 14. až 16. století, dnes jsou součástí městské památkové rezervace. Arciděkanský kostel Narození Panny Marie -- původně raně gotický z 2. pol. 13. století. V 15. století zaklenut a změněn v trojlodí, vyhořel r. 1747, v letech 1751 -- 1756 barokně přestavěn. (KDČB) Ke kostelu přiléhá městská věž, která tvoří dominantu náměstí Míru i celých Domažlic.
Dolní brána - asi nejznámější domažlická brána. Najdeme ji na dolním konci náměstí Míru. Pochází z 60. let 13. století.Každý rok v srpnu se v Domažlicích konají známé Chodské slavnosti. Jejich tradice byla zahájena bezprostředně po skončení II. světové války - pouť na Vavřinec se opět konala 12. srpna 1945. Církevní význam této akce byl za komunismu potlačován, ale folklorní ráz původní poutě se zachoval. Oslavy se ale přesunuly od kostela sv. Vavřince do města. Po revoluci jsou slavnosti opět spojovány s Vavřineckou poutí, jsou ale zejména nejvýznamnější kulturní akcí na Domažlicku.
Domažlice was first recorded as a town in 1231. Přemysl Otakar II of Bohemia ordered the city to be fortified for the purpose of protecting the border with Bavaria. It would remain fortified from 1262 to 1265. Border guards were recruited from the Chodové (Slavic free farmers) who settled in the vicinity of Domažlice.
The city was mortgaged to Bavaria in 1331, lasting until 1419 (with some interruptions). Under Hussite rule, German citizens were expelled from the city, and since then, the population has been predominantly Czech. In 1431, Prokop the Bald defeated the crusaders of the Holy Roman Empire near Domažlice. The 15th and 16th century saw Domažlice change hands frequently, but its importance diminished following the end of the Thirty Years' War. It was not until 1770 that it recovered, largely due to innovations in the textile industry. Until 1918 the town was part of the Austrian monarchy, finding itself on the Austrian side of the Austro-Hungarian internal frontier following the 1867 Ausgleich (compromise). It was the district capital of the district with the same name, being one of the 94 Bezirkshauptmannschaften (district capitals) in Bohemia.[1]
Within the context of the Czech National Revival, Domažlice became a central place during the 19th century. At the time, it was the most western ethnic Czech town, very close to the border with the Kingdom of Bavaria. In the city, a pilgrimage took place on August 13, 1939, which developed into a large Czech protest demonstration against the German occupation and control of the ethnic Czech Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.The German population was expelled in 1945 according to the Potsdam Agreement.
In 2005 a mass grave was discovered on the outskirts of the town, holding 54 Germans, mainly members of the local SA, executed by the Czech resistance after the end of the war, around May 8, 1945.

Domažlice ist eine Stadt im westböhmischen Plzeňský kraj in Tschechien mit etwa 11.000 Einwohnern. Das historische Stadtzentrum wurde 1975 zum städtischen Denkmalreservat erklärt. Es ist wirklich sehr sehenswert und wir hatten dazu auch noch herrliches Wetter. Auf dem Rückweg besuchten wir den Wildgarten von Furth im Wald.

Matt Konop is greeted with banners in Czech reading Liberated By One of Our Own as he enters the main square of Domazlice. Word had spread that an American officer with roots to the region had returned to bring freedom. The experience also freed Konop of his unease of his Czech background. Although he was born in America, his first language was Czech, the only language spoken on the farm in rural Wisconsin. Bringing freedom at the end of World War Two to the lands of his grandparents, Konop's conception of his own identity is transformed -- The Accidental Hero.
