No olvides dejar tu comentario, ¡SUSCRÍBETE! Dale like y comparte este canal con tus amigos. nos vemos en el próximo video.

Quinta O, Granada, Nicaragua

PROPERTY AND ECOLOGICAL HOUSE FOR SALE
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY – LISTED AT $249,000

A beautiful rural 2.8 acres (1.65 mz) property with homestead is for sale at the foot of Mombacho volcano, with easy access through paved road and flat 200m dirt road. This unique dwelling is located only 12 minutes from the quaint little city of Granada, Nicaragua. Whether you want tranquility or excitement, it offers both.
Quinta O’s uncommon dome shapes may captivate the eye, but what’s underneath is most impressive. Quinta O, built by its owner, is made from “earth bags,” or tubular bags stuffed with – you guessed it – earth. These bags are stacked atop each other and encased in concrete on both sides, which work together to prevent both earthquake and water damage. Plentiful daylighting makes everyday living a bit greener and the $249,000 price tag puts the home within many buyers’ price range.
The passive solar structure absorbs heat during the day and releases it at night, creating a comfortable space for everyone inside. These temperature control qualities of the home are essential during the hot Nicaraguan summers and humid winter season.
The rammed earth dwelling is mesmerizing inside and out, Quinta O features wide windows and an open terrace to take advantage of the breathtaking jungle views. Indoors, the use of locally-sourced cedro real and locally made tiles (made by Ladrilleria Artesenal Favilli in Granada) will allow you to enjoy the beautiful details in this home while feeling proud of the handcrafted work.
What’s fascinating about this home is how environmentally friendly and catastrophe proof it is. The Earthbag main house itself covers a large area of approximately 181 square meters, and comprises of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, kitchen and living/dining area. The walls are curved and the shape of the room is round, which is really unique. Open concept with two stories + scenic yoga terrace (516 square feet or 48 square meters). Additional smaller adobe dome house (366 square feet or 34 square meters) and outdoor toilet/shower made of bamboo. Peaceful resting spaces for meditation.

Quinta O offers so many sustainable practices. Energy efficient (electricity bill less than $10/month), natural ventilation and light, rain capture system, solar passive hot water. A deeper explanation regarding the construction can be provided if you are really interested in the house along with how the composting system works, etc. A comprehensive selection of photos that document the construction of the house from the very beginning can also be provided upon request.
Quinta O is located in a quiet, lush, regenerative food forest with thousands of coffee trees, cacao and tropical fruit trees. There are 49 different species of fruit trees and 29 species of hardwood/softwood trees including old growth trees. The owner has applied permaculture practices to the land for the past six years. There is a large organic vegetable garden and hundreds of fruit trees including different varieties of banana, mango, papaya, avocado, coconut, citrus, cactus, noni as well as spices (turmeric, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon) among others. The majority of fruit trees were planted 5-6 years ago and are now beginning their productive life. The landscaping plan features earthbag benches (4), spaces to hang your hammocks, a bread/pizza oven, local stone paths and tropical flower bushes.

Quinta O is a treasure of fresh air, tropical biodiversity and birdsong. It is the home of monkeys at the canopy level. It offers potential revenues from coffee and cacao production, Airbnb rentals and fruit transformation. The owner has produced, processed and sold coffee and chocolate made from Quinta O coffee and cacao beans. There is space for new constructions to expand the rental units. There are endless hiking trails on the volcano across the jungle and coffee haciendas.

Fiber optic internet access is also available.

Nicaragua-Granada
Granada is a city in western Nicaragua and the capital of the Granada Department. With an estimated population of 110,326 (2003), it is Nicaragua's fifth most populous city. Granada is historically one of Nicaragua's most important cities, economically and politically. It has a rich colonial heritage, seen in its architecture and structure.
Granada was founded in 1524 by Francisco Hernández de Córdoba, ostensibly the first European city in mainland America. Unlike other cities that claim the same distinction, the city of Granada was not only the settlement of the conquest, but also a city registered in official records of the Crown of Aragon, and the Kingdom of Castile in Spain.
Granada is also known as La Gran Sultana, in reflection of its Moorish and Andalusian appearance, unlike its sister city of León and historical rival, which displays Castilian trends.
Granada is located along the coast of the Lake Nicaragua (a.k.a. Lake Cocibolca), the world's twentieth largest lake.
Granada is the capital city of the Department of Granada, which borders Boaco and Managua to the north, Masaya and Carazo to the east and Rivas to the south. Within the same department, the River Tipitapa which connects the Lake of Managua and Nicaragua passes through it in the north. It also has three volcanic lagoons; Manares, Genirzaro, and the famous Apoyo. Apoyo, which is shared with the Department of Masaya, is the largest volcanic lagoon in Nicaragua. Granada is a very warm city all year round, with very similar temperatures to Managua. This is due to similarities in geography with its close proximity to a lake and surrounded by high hills. Rainfall in Granada is approximately between 1,100-2,100mm annually.
The vegetation around Granada is a reflection of its climatology. Dry forests and also humid forests skirt the Mombacho volcano. The volcano is also home to a wide array of fauna. (See Wildlife of Nicaragua) The lake is also home to many creatures, both marine and freshwater creatures. It is the only freshwater lake in the world where sharks live (Nicaragua shark). Fishing in the lake is quite good, and fishermen, both commercial and recreational, regularly catch guapote and mojarras, as well as sardines. Nicaragua has recently banned fishing of the Nicaragua shark and sawfish because of population decline.Other important cities and towns within the Granada district include Malacatoya, El Paso, El Guayabo, Diria, Macatepe, El Guanacaste, Nandaime and Diriomo, known nationally as the last city of witches. Mombacho volcano is the highest point (1,345 m) within Granada; the now dormant volcano blew most of its cone into the lake, forming the 365 Islets of Granada, from where the volcano provides an amazing view. It is also possible on a clear day to see Ometepe and Zapatera Islands. This latter island is the second largest island in Lake Nicaragua, and it too is an inactive volcano. It is a national treasure, known as the home of pre-Columbian statues and idols which were found on the island during the Spanish conquest, these are now exhibited in the Convento San Francisco Museum.Granada has many beaches on Lake Nicaragua which are very popular around Semana Santa (Holy Week).
Granada has long been a center of commerce, including timber, gold and silver. Granada's economy continues to grow as it is becoming the national tourism hub. Though Granada remains Nicaragua's fourth largest city, it is widely known for preserving some of the finest colonial-era architecture in the country. A real estate boom had been underway for several years, with many European and Americans purchasing and renovating the area's homes for retirement or holiday homes and several foreign realtors establishing offices, but that boom slowed in 2007. The prior escalation of real estate prices in Granada and other parts of Southwestern Nicaragua has led to a shift of investor attention toward Northern Nicaragua and the cities of Matagalpa, Leon, Corinto and the surrounding beaches of Leon and Corinto.Museums have opened, including one of the finest in the country, the private Mi Museo, and new hotels and restaurants are proliferating at a fast clip.
Granada, though now highly dependent on tourism, also has fertile agricultural land within the municipality. Major production of organic coffee and cacao, cattle, plantain and bananas occurs within its boundaries.Wikipedia

Granada, Nicaragua, Central America, North America

It was named by Hernández de Córdoba after the ancient Spanish city of Granada. This was done in honor of the defeat of the last Moorish stronghold, which had been Spanish Granada, by the Catholic King and Queen of Spain. Granada, Nicaragua was historically the sister capital in Central America to Antigua, Guatemala. During the colonial period, Granada maintained a flourishing level of commerce with ports on the Atlantic Ocean, through Lake Nicaragua (a.k.a. Cocibolca) and the San Juan River. The city has been witness and victim to many of the battles with and invasions from English, French and Dutch pirates trying to take control of Nicaragua. It was also where William Walker, the American filibuster, took up residence and attempted to take control of Central America as a ruling president. One of Walker's generals, Charles Frederick Henningsen, set the city ablaze before escaping, destroying much of the ancient city and leaving printed the words Here was Granada. For many years Granada disputed with León its hegemony as the major city of Nicaragua. The city of Granada was favored by the Conservatives, while Léon was favored by the Liberals. For many years there was conflict that at times became quite violent between the cities' families and political factions. In the mid-19th century a compromise site was agreed on and the capital was finally established at Managua between both cities. Granada avoided much of the tumult of the Sandinista Era in the 1970-80s. San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua! One of our very favorite places we sailed. ~Life off the deep end Ep 24

Nicaragua was not on our bucket list. We heard that the check in process into the country can be a pain, and can be expensive. Also, is Nicaragua safe? Big thoughts especially as we sail with kids. But another cruiser told us that San Juan Del Sur was worth a stop and they did not steer us wrong. It remains one of our very favorite places in the world. If they had a marina, we might still be there. We also took a day trip to Grenada and visited the Masaya Volcano at night. It was all beautiful. We loved making this video to show you all the things to do in San Juan Del Sur! Hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed visiting.

Day Trip to the Somoto Canyon, Nicaragua | GoPro 4

Back in September 2015, we made a day trip in Nicaragua from Estelí to the Somoto Canyon (Cañón de Somoto). It was a day full of fun and beautiful nature. Definitely a recommendation if you are traveling through Central America or Nicaragua.

We booked a guided 6-hours tour (which was really awesome) for around 30$ including lunch. For more and detailed information check out their website

Just a quick look at the beach out in front of the new house here in Northern Nicaragua. With no people around or tourism for miles this area is super remote but offers up peace and tranquillity 24/7 with unbelievable surfing and fishing right out our back door on the famous Emerald Coast!

Welcome to my new home in Nicaragua @casa_de_las_olas House of the Waves
