Germany's Most UNDERRATED Town - Lindau at Lake Constance
At Germany's biggest lake, the Bodensee (lake Constance), is one of the best cities to visit in Germany. If you are planning to travel the South of Germany make sure to put it on your route, it's the perfect place if you're looking for an authentic & traditional German experience. There are almost no foreign tourists.
Lindau is in the most southern part of Bavaria on a little island on the lake Constance, directly bordering Austria (by land) and Switzerland (by water). The city is hosting every year the Nobel Laureate Meetings.

Lindau is one of the best places in Bavaria! It's a major town and island on the eastern side of Lake Constance (Bodensee in German) in Bavaria, Germany. The coat of arms of Lindau town is a linden tree, referring to the supposed origin of the town's name (Linde means linden tree in German). The historic town of Lindau is located on the 0.68-square-kilometer (0.26 sq mi) island of the same name which is connected with the mainland by a road bridge and a railway dam leading to Lindau station.
Lindau is a popular tourist attraction in the South of Germany. The gardens of Lindau are best in spring or summer blossom and summer is the peak tourist period. Lindau is famous for its architecture and outdoor attractions such as cycling, sailing, hiking, swimming and camping are also popular.

Die Kelten nannten ihn Rhenos, die Römer Rhenus Pater: Europas mächtigsten Strom. Drei Wochen dauert seine Reise von den Schweizer Hochalpen bis zur Nordsee. Auf seinem Weg trennt - und verbindet - er sechs Länder. Mit über 1.200 Kilometern Länge ist der Rhein eine der wichtigsten Wasserstraßen der Welt.
Von der Quelle bis zur Mündung folgen die Filmemacher dem Fluss aus der Luft und zeichnen ein zeitgemäßes Bild vom Strom und seinen Anwohnern. Aus der Vogelperspektive werden Schmelzbäche zu abstrakten Gemälden, die Farben des Bodensees erinnern an die Karibik. Gefilmt wurden die Aufnahmen aus einem Hubschrauber, seine Flughöhe ermöglicht große Übersicht: Burg um Burg reiht sich am Mittelrhein wie auf einer Perlenkette, einer Ameisenstraße gleich bewegen sich die Binnenschiffe am Niederrhein. Zugleich schraubt sich die hochauflösende Kamera dicht heran, zeigt Badegäste am Hochrhein, Falken am Kölner Rheinufer und Wildpferde in Holland.

Driving in Germany, Austria and Switzerland: Autobahn A96, A14 & A13 E43 E54 from Lindau to Sargans
In this video you can drive along on Autobahn A96, A14 and A13 in the countries of Germany (A96), Austria (A14) and Switzerland (A13). In order to get to Switzerland from Lindau am Bodensee, you have to pass through Austria using the A14.
In fact, this part of the A14 until the exit of Hohenems is toll free, so you don't need to get a vignette if you are only using this part of the road. They changed this quite a while back to alleviate traffic conditions in the city of Bregenz on the Austrian side of the Bodensee.
Both the A14 and Swiss A13 run alongside the border between the two alpine countries, with just the Rhine river separating the two. It's therefore only a short stretch across the river until we have reached the A13. We continue until Sargans, an important junction where the A13 and A3 Autobahns meet. I already featured this part of A13 in an earlier video on the channel but in the opposite direction.
