6 Best Things To Do At PORT DICKSON -- The Beach Resort Destination At Negeri Sembilan

Port Dickson, or PD to locals, is a coastal and resort town in Port Dickson District, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. It is the second largest town in Negeri Sembilan, after Seremban, its capital city. The town's administration is run by the Port Dickson Municipal Council (Malay: Majlis Perbandaran Port Dickson; MPPD)

This small town used to produce charcoal and therefore was called Arang (Malay: charcoal) - there used to be a carbon mine at the first mile of the coast road (hence named Jalan Pantai) - but it was later developed as a small port by the British during the Straits Settlement period. Port Dickson was also known as Tanjung (Malay: cape), alluding to the town centre's location on a small peninsula. The oldest shophouses were the four situated presently at Jalan Lama.

Historically what is today Port Dickson and nearby Lukut were then part of the Luak of Kelang, one of the original nine chiefdoms (luak) that form the first iteration of Negeri Sembilan in 1773. By early 1800s, it was then part of Selangor. On 30 July 1880, a meeting was held in Singapore between Sultan Abdul Samad (then Sultan of Selangor), Raja Bot (the ruler of Lukut district), Dato' Kelana of Sungai Ujong as well as the British, in which Selangor cedes the district of Lukut to Sungai Ujong (which later became the modern day Negeri Sembilan).

Tin ore was plentiful in Lukut, an area within the Port Dickson district, during the 1820s, and it attracted Chinese immigrant miners. The British considered the area to have great potential as a harbour. It was intended to supersede the port in Pengkalan Kempas. The in-charge officer's name was Dickson, and thereafter the town was named Port Dickson. Others claim that Sir John Frederick Dickson, colonial secretary, a senior official of the Federated Malay States founded Port Dickson and Pulau Arang in 1889.

Port Dickson evolved into a busy trading centre. Railways were constructed to facilitate the growth and development of Port Dickson. Although Port Dickson experienced rapid development, its beaches are fairly well preserved.[citation needed]

Port Dickson is also home to many army camps of the Malaysian Army such as Sebatang Karah, Segenting, Si Rusa and Sunggala.

Discover the Eco-Friendly Awesomeness of Dickson Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas

The 5th best place to live in the country might surprise you. In fact, you might not have heard of Fayetteville, AR, but you’ll be glad you have now. Despite being the 3rd largest city in Arkansas, its 83,000 residents mean it doesn't feel huge and can maintain a quirky vibe.

Dickson Street is the main vein of the city, where you’ll find unique spots—like Dickson Street Bookshop, with a rare book collection dating back 300 years. Craft brew, artisan coffee, and live music are all part of the city’s pulse. And they’ve just become one of only a few dozen cities in the nation (and the first in the state) to pass a 100% renewable energy pledge. Fayetteville is set to have 100% community-wide clean energy by 2050. Hoorah!

PORT DICKSON town and beaches - Malaysia

Click “SUBSCRIBE” to follow latest video here:

Port Dickson is a beach resort destination at Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia, about 90km south from Kuala Lumpur City Center and 30km away from Seremban.

Also called 'PD' by locals, this popular holiday retreat is located within easy reach from KL and Singapore by major highways and roads.

From PD's town center, a coastline of warm beaches and calm seas stretches along a 10-mile strip towards Malacca.

In addition, there are also many tourist attractions to explore that include an army museum, ostrich farm, lunar observatory, ornamental fish center, waterfront walk, 3D art galleries and much more.

Also at the end of PD's coastline, lies a forest reserve on a historical cape that offers wildlife sightings and hiking opportunities. Finally, try out the local culinary specialities that revolve around seafood.

Port Dickson began history as a small Malay village inhabited by fishermen and traders.

It was originally called 'Arang'; named after a local coal mine. Around the 1820s, tin ore was discovered in Lukut town about 7km north, leading to an influx of Chinese migrants.

During the colonial era, a British official named Sir Frederic Dickson turned Arang into a port for transporting the rich tin ore deposits.

The town was renamed Port Dickson (after the official) and became a busy, railway-linked harbour.

After the tin trade faded, the town grew into a beach resort destination, its popularity reaching a climax in the nineties as large numbers of visitors streamed from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Beachfront property developent escalated at an alarming rate, buoyed by investor speculation and tourist crowds.

Port Dickson is connected through Seremban by the North-South Highway, conveniently linking various states and cities around Peninsular Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, to this popular beach resort destination. Mostly hot and humid through the year, the equatorial weather brings heavy rains from October till December, with the sunniest months between May and August.
I
A wide range of accommodation is available along PD's 10-mile beach stretch, including budget hotels, family apartments and luxury resorts. Restaurants, shops, banks and other modern amenities are plentiful throughout town and popular beach spots, while public transport is available through taxis and buses that ply the coastal route.

PENANG, MALAYSIA (2023) | 10 Awesome Things To Do On Penang Island

Penang island has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its colonial architecture, natural and cultural attractions, and some of the best street food in Asia. Here are 10 of the best things to do in Penang:

10. Try The Unique Cuisine Of Penang
Dishes you should try include Laksa, Cendol, and Nasi Kandar. In the heart of George Town you can also find the Chulia Street Night Market where you can sample some delicious Chinese-Malaysian food, such as Char Kuey Teow & Wonton Mee.

☑️ Penang Street Food Tour:

9. Explore George Town’s Historical Streets & Art Scene
When walking around the historical area, you’ll find lots of beautiful buildings and wall paintings, which represent images from Penang’s past and daily life.

???? Where we stayed in George Town - Attic Hotel:

8. Take The Funicular Up To Penang Hill
Penang Hill offers panoramic views of the city and the mainland in the distance. But you can also find a Hindu temple, a mosque, a variety of nature trails, an art gallery, and even cafés and food courts.

7. Discover Flora And Fauna At The Habitat
The Habitat is a rainforest discovery center that takes you into the heart of the jungle. It’s a treasure of biodiversity, boasting an abundance of wildlife. You can explore the forest by walking a nature trail, including informational signs, a canopy walk and a viewing platform.

☑️ Entry Ticket The Habitat:

6. Stroll Around Clan Jetties in George Town
Located at the waterfront, this unique type of settlement was created by Chinese immigrants in the late 19th century. There are now six jetties you can visit, and Chew Jetty is the most popular one with many souvenir shops and places to eat.

5. Explore Little Indi
The temple Sri Mahamariamman marks the start of the area and behind it, you’ll find colorful streets with goldsmiths and stores selling sarees and trinkets. But what we loved the most was the tasty and authentic Indian food.

4. Discover The Buddhist Kek Lok Si Temple
Kek Lok Si is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. The temple is made up of colorful prayer halls, beautiful gardens, ponds with fish and turtles, an impressive seven-tiered pagoda, and a large bronze statue of the Buddhist Goddess of compassion.

3. Hike At Penang National Park
Penang National Park is the smallest national park in Malaysia. There are 3 walking trails that cut through the jungle here. We decided to take the right fork to head to Monkey Beach, which is the most popular and easiest of the three trails as it’s relatively flat.

☑️ Monkey beach trail:

2. Sunbathe On Batu Ferringhi Beach
Batu Ferringhi Beach has powdery soft sands and turquoise waters to enjoy. It’s a great place to watch the sunset.

1.Balik Pulau Bike Ride
Balik Pulau is a hidden gem is covered by beautiful greenery, paddy fields, and rolling hills. It’s less populated and less developed than the rest of the island.

Safe and Affordable Towns in Tennessee

For the last few years, Tennessee has been experiencing an influx of new residents. Some of that is due to the lack of a state income tax, with many people coming from high-tax states. As a result, some of the more popular cities, like Nashville and Chattanooga have started to get expensive. There are however, some cities, that still have a reasonable cost of living, while also having a low crime rate. In this video, we're uncovering nine communities in the Volunteer State that are both affordable and safe.

Top 10 worst small towns in Tennessee. The Volunteer State has some sad towns.

Tennessee is a great state. I know a handful of people from the Volunteer state and they are all amazing people. But like all cities, states, and towns they have some problems. That is what this video is about. Towns with serious problems. If you have ever thought about moving to rural or small-town Tennessee you probably would want to stay away from these areas. Talk to a local real estate agent before you decide to buy a home in any of these.

Exploring the BEST Beach in Malaysia? - Port Dickson! | Traveling Malaysia Vlog

Hi Unique Family,

In today's vlog, Bolu is exploring the best beach in Malaysia? though that's a question to be answered by the viewers.

This is my final episode for now at Port Dickson, a city not too far from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Port Dickson beach is a series of beaches, well kept and always visited by a lot of people here in Malaysia (inclusive of foreigners living in Malaysia, tourists, and even many Malaysians. I was thinking why this beach is so famous until I visited there myself in this travel vlog around Malaysia. You would love to know more from the explore as you follow through the vlog.

One of the major reasons I feel this beach welcomes a lot of visitors, is due to its proximity to the capital city of Malaysia. Though it's not that close to Kuala Lumpur, but around a 2 hours drive is not too much for a neat and relaxing beach.

Overall, I must say, Malaysia is a beautiful country with beautiful people. Further, in every state or city you visit in Malaysia, there is always a balanced variety of attractions and relaxation places. This is the final part of the travel around Port Dickson, Malaysia; more Malaysian cities will be explored in the upcoming videos.

In the coming days, I'll be bringing you more and more beautiful explore from other beautiful states and cities in Malaysia, so watch out for more!

I am Bolu, and I make travel videos around Malaysia. Though, I am an international postgraduate student here in Malaysia, however, I fell in love with the country and decided to explore and show beautiful Malaysia to the world. Join me in my travel explore around Malaysia.

I am pretty sure you will enjoy this exclusive presentation.

The 10 best things to do in Bentonville, Rogers, Fayetteville and Springdale,
AKA, northwest ARkansas

#1 Crystal Bridges
Even if you're not a museum go-er, it's still a must stop.
one because it's free, two because it has some very amazing and expensive
pieces in it ($35 million dollar painting) Like most things in this area,
it's tied to the Walmart Family. Also, Norman Rockwell’s Rosie the Riveter.

Thing #1.5 to see the grounds directly around it, all 120 acres
which are filled with art pieces and trails galore.

Also, things #2 to see since you're right here is the Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman-Wilson House.

#3, let's get this one over with, you all know Walmart is not only
10 min. down the road from wherever you're watching this from,
but hey, jokes aside, learning about Walmart was very interesting
and I'd go again.. I'd go again because It was closed! Renovations until 2024. The museum itself which
was quite a walk away on a windy non-summer day (that means it was cold)
Anyway, from the pictures i saw it looked really cool and I'd go back,
however, what we saw was still worth the stop. The museum was interesting with old uniforms to an interactive world map and even Sam Walton himself.. well.. mostly. But it was words he actually said and it was fun.

#3.5 is to get ice cream at the food truck in front, called The Spark. And then explore the Bentonville Downtown Square. I usually get plain chocolate. I felt brave and tried the f150 because of Sam Walton's truck usually parked in front. I do regret it, I didn't like it, it was like liquid red velvet cake. My mom who went with me got the strawberry and she really liked hers.
Ok 4 on this list is the Pineapple Hills Lemonade... just kidding,
that's what it's called when you drive by too fast, it's the Pinnacle Hills Promindae
in Rogers. It's shopping galore on 152 acres in this open air mall, over 100 retailers.

#5 takes us out of the city and into the wilderness of Hobbs State park. there's plenty of outdoor activities you can find here in Arkansas's largest state park at over 12 thousand acres with 54 miles of trails, campsites, and, the only park in Arkansas that allows regulated hunting but in this video, I'm going to focus on the War Eagle Mill. It's not only a pretty mill with a cafe, cute gift shop, and a craft show in October.
Lets move to #6, Ozark botanical gardens.
And lets take #7 back up and around and through the woods to grandmas house we go... no.. but it is 40 miles of fun, the Razorback greenway! Take a bike ride through Fayetteville, Johnson, Springdale, Lowell, Rogers, Bentonville, and Bella Vista. there's many stops along the way and there are many shops to rent one.

#8, what this area is also known for other than Walmart, mountain biking. More than 250 miles of top-tier mountain bike trails, offering cyclists one of the best singletrack experiences in the nation.
With the rugged terrain of the Ozarks, and one of the most progressive cycling cultures in the country, Northwest Arkansas has invested in an impressive infrastructure. Trails include downhill runs with shuttles, a best-in-class jump park, pump tracks and skills courses. The area has earned a reputation as one of the top off-road cycling destinations.
Number 9 is that Daisy also got their start here. It was closed yet again on the day we went, which means check the hours before you head there. but it looks like a really cool museum
#10 on the list is 8th street market.

Thanks for watching! Safe Travels & Subscribe!

Port Dickson, or PD to locals, is a beach and holiday destination situated about 32 km from Seremban and 90 km from Kuala Lumpur. It is located in the state of Negeri Sembilan in Peninsular Malaysia. It takes just over an hour by car to travel from Kuala Lumpur to Port Dickson along the North-South Expressway.

Port Dickson evolved into a busy trading centre. Railways were constructed to facilitate the growth and development of Port Dickson. Although Port Dickson experienced rapid development, the beautiful beaches are fairly well preserved. Now, Port Dickson has become not only a beautiful tourist destination, but a large municipality with about 5,240,766 residents.

U.S. Highway 70: Nashville to Dickson - Tennessee | Drive America's Highways ????

???? Drive America's Highways for 30 miles west along U.S. Highway 70 from Nashville to Dickson, Tennessee ????️

We start the video turning onto U.S. Highway 70 a few dozen feet west of the intersection with River Road on the far west side of Nashville. Driving southwest on Charlotte Pike, we cross the intersection with Tennessee Highway 251 to enter Bellevue. Continuing our southwesterly drive through Bellevue, we pass the western terminus of highway 70S before bending our way along the north bank of the Harpeth River. Leaving Bellevue, we enter Pegram (5:30) where we drive northwest to intersect TN-249. Winding our way around the northern banks of the Harpeth River once again, we leave Pegram, passing the service road to the Narrows of Harpeth (8:08), and continue west into White Bluff (10:38), where we intersect Tennessee Highway 47.

Leaving White Bluff, we continue west on Highway 70 to pass through the northern parts of Montgomery Bell State Park, where we make a brief stop (14:24). Resuming our westerly drive on 70, we soon enter Dickson, where we pass the terminus of TN-96. Continuing into Dickson, we cross several local intersections while driving through a commercial district in town before turning northwest on Henslee Drive to bypass downtown. A block or so later, we reach the intersection with Mathis Dr, where we end the video at a red light.
