DHOLAVIRA History(In Hindi) | World Heritage Site(Kutch Gujarat) 5000 वर्ष पुराने धोलावीरा का रहस्य

This Vlog is based on my visit to Dholavira Kutch(धोलावीरा) which is a 5000 year old site of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization (Harrappan Civilization) in the Great Rann of Kutch. In this Video, I will be telling you about Dholavira History in Hindi(धोलावीरा का रहस्य). A lot of people also want to know about Dholavira History in Gujarati language, Telugu, Kannada, English but unfortunately I know only Hindi and English languages. Anyways, Let me tell you that Dholavira Sabhyata(धोलावीरा सभ्यता) dates back from 3000 BCE and Dholavira Site(धोलावीरा गुजरात) is known to be 5th Largest Harappan Site in India. In this Dholavira Vlog, not only I will tell you about the details of Dholavira World Heritage Site, but I will also give you a complete Dholavira Tourist Guide which includes Dholavira Road from nearby places like Dholavira to Dhordo Road, details about Dholavira Tourism Resort, Dholavira Museum and Dholavira Kutch Tourism.

A lot of people often ask in Hindi that Dholavira ki khoj kisne kiya(धोलावीरा की खोज किसने की) and the answer is that it was discovered in 1968 by archaeologist Jagat Pati Joshi. Also, a few people ask Dholavira kis rajya me hai(धोलावीरा किस राज्य में स्थित है या धोलावीरा कहां पर स्थित है) and my answer to them is that it is located in Gujarat state. Also, I would like to tell you that if you are searching for Dholavira Morari Bapu Katha or Dholavira Song on YouTube then you can get it easily. So, if you are planning to visit Kutch region of Gujarat then don't forget to visit Dholavira live.

Dholavira (ધોળાવીરા in Gujarati) is known to be a popular archaeological site at Khadirbet in Bhachau Taluka of Kutch District, in the western state of Gujarat, India. The name Dholavira has been taken from a modern-day village which is located 1 kilometre south of it. Earthquakes have again and again affected Dholavira, which included a severe earthquake around 2600 BC.

Dholavira is located on the Tropic of Cancer. It is known to be one of the 5 largest Harappan sites and undoubtedly the most prominent archaeological sites in India that belong to the Indus Valley Civilization. It is also popularly known as one of the grandest cities of its time. It is situated on Khadir bet island in the Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary in the Great Rann of Kutch. The 120 acres quadrangular city is situated between two seasonal rivers, which were Mansar in the north and Manhar in the south. The site is thought to be occupied from c.2650 BCE, which later declined slowly after about 2100 BCE, and it was briefly abandoned then reoccupied until c.1450 BCE. Recent research tell that the beginning of occupation around 3500 BCE (pre-Harappan) and which continued until around 1800 BCE (early part of Late Harappan period).

The site was known to be discovered by a resident of Dholavira village, Shambhudan Gadhvi, in early 1960s who told government about the location. The site was known to be officially discovered in the year 1967-68 by J. P. Joshi, of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and is popular as the fifth largest of eight major Harappan sites. Dholavira has been continuously been under excavation since 1990 by the ASI, which concluded that Dholavira has definitely added new dimensions to personality of Indus Valley Civilisation. The other main Harappan sites discovered so far are Harappa, Mohenjo-daro, Ganeriwala, Rakhigarhi, Kalibangan, Rupnagar and Lothal.

It was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name Dholavira: a Harappan City on 27 July 2021.

Excavations : Excavation was started in 1989 by the ASI under the direction of Bisht, and there were a total of 13 field excavations between the year 1990 and 2005. The excavation actually brought to light the urban planning and architecture, and unearthed a huge numbers of antiquities such as, animal bones, gold, silver, terracotta ornaments, pottery as well as bronze vessels. Archaeologists tell that Dholavira was a very important centre of trade between settlements in south Gujarat, Sindh and Punjab and Western Asia.

Estimated to be even older than the port-city of Lothal, the city of Dholavira has a rectangular shape and organization, and is spread over a total area of 54 acres. The area of Dholavira measures 771.1 m (2,530 ft) in length, and 616.85 m (2,023.8 ft) in width. Unlike Harappa and Mohenjo-daro, the city was made to a pre-existing geometrical plan that consisted of three divisions – the citadel, the middle town, and the lower town.

Ahmedabad has been selected as one of the hundred Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under Government of India's flagship Smart Cities Mission. In July 2017, the Historic City of Ahmedabad or Old Ahmedabad, was declared as India's first UNESCO World Heritage City.
The area around Ahmedabad has been inhabited since the 11th century, when it was known as Ashaval. At that time, Karna, the Chaulukya ruler of Anhilwara (modern Patan), waged a successful war against the Bhil king of Ashaval, and established a city called Karnavati on the banks of the Sabarmati. Solanki rule lasted until the 13th century, when Gujarat came under the control of the Vaghela dynasty of Dholka. Gujarat subsequently came under the control of the Delhi Sultanate in the 14th century. However, by the earlier 15th century, the local Rajput Muslim governor Zafar Khan Muzaffar established his independence from the Delhi Sultanate and crowned himself Sultan of Gujarat as Muzaffar Shah I, thereby founding the Muzaffarid dynasty. This area finally came under the control of his grandson Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1411 A.D. who while at the banks of Sabarmati liked the forested area for a new capital city and laid the foundation of a new walled city near Karnavati and named it Ahmedabad after the four saints in the area by the name Ahmed. According to other sources, he named it after himself. Ahmed Shah I laid the foundation of the city on 26 February 1411(at 1.20 pm, Thursday, the second day of Dhu al-Qi'dah, Hijri year 813) at Manek Burj. He chose it as the new capital on 4 March 1411.
City Walls of Ahmedabad, 1866
In 1487, Mahmud Begada, the grandson of Ahmed Shah, fortified the city with an outer wall 10 km (6.2 mi) in circumference and consisting of twelve gates, 189 bastions and over 6,000 battlements. In 1535 Humayun briefly occupied Ahmedabad after capturing Champaner when the ruler of Gujarat, Bahadur Shah, fled to Diu. Ahmedabad was then reoccupied by the Muzaffarid dynasty until 1573 when Gujarat was conquered by the Mughal emperor Akbar. During the Mughal reign, Ahmedabad became one of the Empire's thriving centres of trade, mainly in textiles, which were exported as far as Europe. The Mughal ruler Shahjahan spent the prime of his life in the city, sponsoring the construction of the Moti Shahi Mahal in Shahibaug. The Deccan Famine of 1630–32 affected the city, as did famines in 1650 and 1686. Ahmedabad remained the provincial headquarters of the Mughals until 1758, when they surrendered the city to the Marathas.
During the period of Maratha Empire governance, the city became the centre of a conflict between the Peshwa of Poona and the Gaekwad of Baroda. In 1780, during the First Anglo-Maratha War, a British force under James Hartley stormed and captured Ahmedabad, but it was handed back to the Marathas at the end of the war. The British East India Company took over the city in 1818 during the Third Anglo-Maratha War. A military cantonment was established in 1824 and a municipal government in 1858.Incorporated into the Bombay Presidency during British rule, Ahmedabad became one of the most important cities in the Gujarat region. In 1864, a railway link between Ahmedabad and Mumbai (then Bombay) was established by the Bombay, Baroda, and Central India Railway (BB&CI), enabling traffic and trade between northern and southern India via the city.
