So this is going to be 3 part video series for our visit to Volksgarten which is also known as people's garden in Vienna, Austria.

If you’re looking for an fun and memorable place to have dinner on your Vienna holiday, you may like to head out to the Marchfelderhof Restaurant, Austria’s most historical and traditional restaurant.
Stepping into the restaurant, you are transported to quite a different world! Musical instruments like old violins, banjo, tambourines, drums and other paraphrenalia adorn the ceilings, autographed photos, pictures and impressive certificates cover the walls and the metal plaques on the tables display the names of VIPs who have sat there. If you think that the entrance and dining areas are kitsch, you should head for the toilets.

Austria, formerly known as the Republic of Austria, is a landlocked nation in the Eastern Alps of Central Europe. It is a federation of nine states, one of which is its capital, Vienna, which is also the state's most populous city. Austria is lined by Germany toward the northwest, the Czech Republic toward the north, Slovakia toward the upper east, Hungary toward the east, Slovenia and Italy toward the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein toward the west. With a population of 9 million people and an area of 83,871 km2 (32,383 sq mi), Austria was formed at the end of the first millennium from the remnants of the Eastern and Hungarian March. It was originally a margraviate of Bavaria, but in 1156 it became a duchy of the Holy Roman Empire and in 1453 it became an archduchy. Austria became the heartland of the Habsburg monarchy when Vienna began serving as the empire's administrative capital in the 16th century. Austria became a major power and the dominant member of the German Confederation following the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806. The end of the Confederation and the beginning of Austria-Hungary a year later were both facilitated by the empire's defeat in the Austro-Prussian War in 1866.
The declaration of the Republic of German-Austria in 1918 and the First Austrian Republic in 1919 followed Emperor Franz Joseph's declaration of war on Serbia following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914. This war eventually turned into World War I. The establishment of an Austrofascist dictatorship under Engelbert Dollfuss in 1934 was the culmination of anti-parliamentarian sentiments during the interwar period. Adolf Hitler annexed Austria into Nazi Germany a year before World War II started, making it a sub-national division. The nation regained its sovereignty and declared its perpetual neutrality in 1955 following its liberation in 1945 and a decade of occupation by the Allies.
The president of Austria is elected by the people and serves as head of state; the chancellor serves as head of government and chief executive. Austria is a parliamentary representative democracy. Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck are major cities. According to GDP per capita, Austria consistently ranks among the world's wealthiest nations and has the highest standard of living; In 2021, its Human Development Index placed it 25th worldwide.
Austria has been an individual from the Unified Countries since 1955 and of the European Association since 1995. It has the OSCE and OPEC and is an establishing individual from the OECD and Interpol. It likewise consented to the Schengen Arrangement in 1995, and embraced the euro cash in 1999.

Heringsschmaus für Feinschmecker im Marchfelderhof
Alle Jahre wieder kommt nicht nur das Christkind oder der Osterhase, sondern im Marchfelderhof in Deutsch Wagram wird auch der traditionelle Heringsschmaus mit unzähligen Gästen zelebriert. Ein Gourmeterlebnis das man auf keinen Fall versäumen sollte. Für heuer ist es wohl schon zu spät, aber für nächstes Jahr unbedingt im Kalender vormerken. Und damit die Zeit bis dahin nicht zu lang wird, kommt ja schon bald die Spargelzeit in der wunderbare kulinarische Kreationen im Marchfelderhof aufgetischt werden.
Angeführt von der Deutsch-Wagramer Faschingskapelle pilgerten am Tag vor dem Aschermittwoch Schauspielerin MARIANNE NENTWICH, Intendant MARCUS STRAHL und seine LEILA, Volksschauspieler GERHARD ERNST, BIRGIT SARATA, Kabarettistin EDITH LEYRER, GERNOT KRANNER, Schauspielerin CHRISTINE SCHUBERTH, HELENE VON DAMM und Mädchenmalerin MARIA LAHR in den Gobelin Saal, wo sie von Marchfelderhof Küchenchef CHRISTIAN LANGER mit einem 5-gängigen Heringsschmaus Menü von einem Potpourri aus Heringssalaten über Bouillabaisse, Bouchot Muscheln und Seesaibling mit Mandelbutter und Sesam Pak Choi verwöhnt wurden. „Die Fastenzeit kann noch ein paar Stunden warten“ scherzten Ex-RTL Chef HELMUT THOMA sowie Verleger CHRISTIAN MUCHA und orderten für ihre Herzensdamen DANIÉLE und EKATERINA noch ein Supplement der „sündigen“ Pavlova.
Gut gelaunt und gesättigt für die nächsten Fastenwochen, schaut zur späten Stunde Wiens Künstlergemeinde der Zeit bis Ostern gelassen entgegen und freut sich schon jetzt auf die bevorstehende Spargelzeit im Marchfeld.

Eröffnung der Spargelsaison 2018 im Marchfelderhof
Die traditionsreiche Marchfelderhof–Spargelgala, die bereits in der Kaiserzeit einen Fixpunkt für den Wiener Hof darstellte, wurde am Dienstag, 10. April mit zahlreichen Zelebritäten gefeiert.
Zum Auftakt marschierten die Deutschmeister, eine Damengarde, eine Kompanie an Köchen, auf. Prominente fuhren in Kutschen und Kaleschen vor, um den berühmten Marchfeldspargel gebührend zu begrüßen. Es folgten die Spargelsegnung und die Krönung der Spargelkönigin. Es wurden Spargel- Schönheitsgeheimnisse von Kaiserin Sisi verraten und es gab eine Spargelwein- Degustation.
Höhepunkt war das Spargel-Dinner in sechs Gängen nach Rezepten der kaiserlichen Hofküche. Es ließ die Herzen der prominenten Feinschmecker höher schlagen. Umrahmt wurde das delikate Mahl von einem geradezu märchenhaften Galaprogramm, samt Kaiserwalzer-Ballett der Kompanie Hatala.
Dass beim Nachhausegehen noch Berge von sorgfältig verpacktem Solospargel in den Limousinen mitgenommen wurde, ist ebenfalls Tradition: Spargelpudelwohl fühlten sich u.a. die kaiserlichen Hoheiten Erzherzog und Erzherzogin Sandor und Hertha Margarethe von Habsburg-Lothringen, Bundesminister a.D. Dr. Werner Fasslabend mit Gattin Martina, Baumeister Ing. Richard Lugner, Komm.-Rat Friedrich Schiller und Gattin Jeannine, Kammersänger Gerhard Ernst, Kammersängerin Sona Ghazarian, Haubenkoch Heinz Hanner, Dina Larot, Birgit Sarata, Kammersängerin Ulrike Steinsky, Kathi Stumpf, Franz Suhrada, Veit Schalle, Burgschauspieler Bruno Thost, Nationalratsabg. a.D. Der Marchfelderhof – das erste FESTaurant Österreichs – seit 1843
Das legendäre Erlebnisrestaurant wird seit seiner Gründung von der Alt-Wagramer Familie Bocek geführt. Mehr als 40 Gästebücher quellen über mit den Namen der prominenten Besucher. Darunter gekrönte Häupter, Politiker, Kunst und Kultur, internationale Filmstars wie Liz Taylor und Clark Gable sowie die heimische Prominenz, die sich im ausgezeichneten Gastronomiebetrieb in Deutsch Wagram ein ständiges Stell-Dich-ein gibt.
2017 wurde dem Marchfelderhof vom Bundesminister für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft, Mag. Dr. Harald Mahrer, das österreichische Staatswappen verliehen. Diese höchste Auszeichnung für erfolgreiche und vorbildliche Unternehmensführung nahmen die Seniorchefs Komm.-Rat Gerhard Bocek und Hilde Faltus-Bocek sowie Juniorchef Peter Grossmann, Dipl.-Ing. Friedrich Faltus, Küchenchef Christian Lager, Restaurantchef Rainer Schmid und Prokuristin Renate Ganner entgegen.
2018 feiert der Marchfelderhof sein 175-Jahr-Jubiläum.
