If the 4 nations making the kingdom are ranked in order of popularity, we could go like England, Scotland, and, Wales. That’s why many people don’t have an idea of what living in Northern Ireland, the fourth province of the UK is. This time, we want to discuss the 10 best places to live in Northern Ireland.
This will prove that the part of Ireland that remained in the UK since 1921 is not faring badly at all. Please enjoy the discussion about the best places to live in Northern Ireland.
10. Newtownards
Newtownards is a town, townland, and civil parish in County Down. It’s not far from Strangford Lough, another one of the best places to live in Northern Ireland that would be discussed later. Newtownards is at the northernmost tip of Strangford Lough. It is also 10 miles east of Belfast on the Ards Peninsula.
When Newtownards hit the headline on July 17, 2021, it was about the townland of Ballywatticock toward Mount Stewart, where temperature peaked 31.2 °C at 15:40. Besides that, it has a very low crime rate. The town has a lot of beautiful spots that can add colors to the quality of life. Places such as Movilla Abbey, Somme Heritage Center, and Mount Stewart attract people to this town. The town’s residents are also entertained by sporting activities such as rugby, cricket, football, and motor racing. It is one of the best places to live in Northern Ireland.

Ireland's Lakeland County of Fermanagh is the next of the 10 best places to live in Northern Ireland. It’s one of the six counties of the region, bordering the Republic. The county is renowned for its boating and fishing. Once a legendary dry plain, Fermanagh was believed to have magic well at its center with widely held tales of two lovers. Top best places to visit in Derry, Northern Ireland
Derry or, more officially, Londonderry is the second largest city of Northern Ireland.
The city is also nicknamed the Maiden City by virtue of the fact that its walls were never breached despite being besieged on three separate occasions.
Derry is the only remaining walled city in Ireland that is completely intact and it is one of the finest examples of a walled city in Europe.
There are many historical buildings that can be visited when walking down the City Walls.
St Columb’s Cathedral is the mother church of the Ireland Diocese of Derry.
Situated along the City Walls, First Derry Presbyterian Church has recently been re-opened and is now used as a place of worship.
Another admirable church of great importance is the neo-Gothic St Augustine’s Church.
Located within the historic walls Tower Museum, the main museum of the city, tells the story of the city from prehistory to the present.
Right in the center of Derry is a monument dedicated to the citizens who lost their lives during World War I, the Diamond War Memorial.
In the Bogside neighborhood is a historical landmark, a free-standing gable wall, that commemorates Free Derry.
In the same area of the Free Derry Museum is the Bloody Sunday Memorial.
But the Bogside is best known for its large political murals found on the walls of Free Derry Corner.
A more contemporary sculpture in the city, known as Hands Across the Divide, serves as a symbol of the two communities coming together.
Outside of the city walls are many important landmarks worth visiting, such as:
St Eugene’s Cathedral, where there is the Roman Catholic minster.
St Columba’s Church Long Tower, the Roman Catholic Church with the beautiful altar.
And the Guildhall, a large hall where many social and political events have been held.
The Guildhall is located between City Walls and the River Foyle.

1. The famous walls of the city were built 400 years ago, when King James I required defences to keep the newly planted population safe from Irish rebels besieging the city. Over 6 metres high and at least as wide, these sturdy walls took only five years to be built.
2. The iconic Peace Bridge was introduced to the city in 2011, and has won numerous awards since. It is a vital link between the two sides of the River Foyle, and tends to be the centre point for major events in the city.
3. The Walled City of Derry is a city of murals. Take a walk around the city and you will be met by impactful art messages at every corner. Take a guided tour by the artists themselves, The Bogside Artists, and delve into the meaning behind these art pieces.
4. This walled city plays host to one of the biggest Halloween celebrations in Europe. Derry Halloween has been called the best Halloween festival in the world by USA today, and it’s easy to see why!
5. The late poet Seamus Heaney’s life, literature and legacy can be explored at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy, County Londonderry. A purpose-built arts and literary centre, Seamus Heaney HomePlace houses an interactive exhibition, arranged over two floors and filled with personal stories and artefacts, dozens of family photographs, video recordings from friends, neighbours, world leaders, cultural figures, and the voice of the poet himself.
