India is known all over the world for its mysticism and spirituality, and Deoghar symbolizes both of these. The word “Deoghar” is a Hindi word that translates to the Home of Gods and Goddesses. This beautiful city is also popular for its various magnificent Deoghar Temples.
Attributing its name to the Baidyanath temple, this city is also called the Baidyanath Dham, the Baba Dham or B. Deoghar. There is no evidence of the origin of this city, but it is mentioned in ancient Hindu texts called Haritaki Van or Ketakivan. Deoghar is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. Tourists from across the world flock this city in the Hindu month of Shrawan.

DEOGHAR :
Deoghar is a holy city beside the Mayurakshi River, in the east Indian state of Jharkhand. The ancient Baba Baidyanath Temple complex is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Nearby, Shiv Ganga is a sacred pool where devotees of Shiva bathe. There is a shrine to Krishna in the ornate, stone-carved Naulakha Mandir temple.
PLACES TO VISIT IN DEOGHAR:
Baidyanath Dham, Distance: 1km
The Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, commonly referred to as the Baidyanath Dham, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India
Baba Basukinath Dham
Basukinath is located in Dumka District of Jharkhand. It lies on the Deoghar – Dumka state highway and is around 25 km north-west of Dumka. It is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus. Basukinath Temple is the main attraction here.Jasidih Junction Railway Station and Jamtara Railway Station are the nearest railheads. Ranchi Airport is the nearest airport. It is situated at Jarmundi Block on Dumka Deoghar State Highway at a distance of 24 km from the Distrcit headquarters Dumka. In a year lacs and lacs people from different parts of country come here to worship Lord Shiva. In the month of Shravan people of several country also come here to worship Lord Shiva.
Satsang Ashram: Distance- 1.5 Km
Satsang Ashram is a holy place where the followers of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulachandra gather to worship. The Ashram also has a zoo and a museum in its complex.
USHRI FALLS :
The Usri River, a tributary of the Barakar River, flows down a steep gorge. The Usri Falls drop some 12 metres (39 ft) in three separate streams. It is surrounded by dense forest.
The character of the gneissic complex of this region is well exposed. Some of the rocks have been split up into blocks of huge dimension whose polished and clean surfaces have been chequered by veins of various hues. The profile of the river bed changes after passing through the falls. The lower portion is mostly flat, slightly undulating, which gives way to gorge like form. The government has taken several steps to develop the area as a prominent tourist spot along with Khandoli Dam and Parasnath.
Khandoli Park :
The Khandoli hill has a peculiar shape of a saddle and is made up of Granitoid gneiss. The peak of khandoli hill appears similar to a volcanic cone and has a great saddle consisting of massive boulders attached to it. Recently the urban development department has made plans to desilt the Khandoli lake after decades.
PATHROL KALI MANDIR :
Madhupur has in its midst an ancient beautiful Kali temple popularly known as Pathrol Kali Mata Mandir. This temple was built by Raja Digvijay Singh about 6 to 7 centuries ago. There are nine more temples close to the main temple that devotees can also visit. The temple which is situated beyond Lalgarh has eastern architecture that showcases the deul style. It is believed that the current deity in the sanctum sanctorum was brought all the way from Kolkata.
TEKRA
Trikut Pahar: Distance 16 Km
Trikut Pahar is one of the most exciting tourist destination in Deoghar, where you can enjoy Trekking, Ropeway, Wildlife Adventures and a safe natural retreat. It is also a popular picnic spot and a place for Pilgrimage. In dense forest on the uphill lies the famous Trikutachal Mahadeva Temple and the hermitage of Sage Dayananda. Roopway – 140/Head.
Tapovan Caves and Hills, Distance- 10Km
Located just 10 km from Deoghar, this place has a temple of Shiva called Taponath Mahadeva and a number of caves are also present there.
Naulakha Mandir Distance- 1.5 Km
The Naulakha Mandir is located in Deoghar, Jharkhand. Famous for the Baba Baidyanath Dham Temple, this temple is just 1.5 km from the main temple. 146 ft high, this temple is edicated to Radha-Krishna. Since its construction cost Rs. 9 lakhs, it is also known as Naulakha (Nine-Lakh) temple.
Nandan Pahar: Distance: 5.5 Km
Nandan Pahar is an amusement park built on top of a hill in the district of Deoghar in Jharkhand, India. It is famous as a picnic spot with several activities for one and all. One can have fun on one of the joy rides or go boating in the region or offer their prayers at the Nandi Temple.

Deogarh is a village in Lalitpur district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located on the right bank of Betwa River and to the west of Lalitpur hills. It is known for Gupta monuments and for many ancient monuments of Hindu and Jain origins inside and outside the walls of the fort.
The Dashavatara Temple is an early 6th century Vishnu Hindu temple located at Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh which is 125 kilometers from Jhansi, in the Betwa River valley in northern-central India. It has a simple, one cell square plan and is one of the earliest Hindu stone temples still surviving today.
दशावतार मन्दिर, उत्तर प्रदेश के ललितपुर जिले के देवगढ़ में स्थित है। यह भगवान विष्णु को समर्पित है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि यह गुप्त काल में बना था। यहाँ आप भगवान विष्णु के दस अवतार के दर्शन कर सकते हैं और यही नहीं मंदिर के द्वार पर गंगा और यमुना देवियों की नक्काशी की गयी है।
Deogarh village, which has an area of 1,049.15 square kilometres (405.08 sq mi),104 lies on the right bank of the Betwa River, at the point where it joins the reservoir formed by the Rajghat Dam. The village also has two rock cut valleys known as Nahar Ghati (ghati means valley) and Raj Ghati on its southern side along the river. The village is at the western end of the Lalitpur hill range, situated 33 kilometres (21 mi) south-east from Lalitpur town in Lalitpur district, 125 kilometres (78 mi) south of the divisional administrative centre at Jhansi, and 235 km from Gwalior. The fort of Deogarh is in a valley which generally has a gentle slope. The valley is formed by the Betwa River at the western end of the hills of the Vindhya Range. Known earlier as Vetravati (Sanskrit, meaning containing reeds), the Betwa River is a tributary of the Yamuna River, and skirts the fort hill on its southern side. The river, flowing at a bend near the fort, has a rocky bed. It flows in a cascade of deep pools with steep rocky banks of sandstone formations. The fort is located on a precipice of the steep cliff, just above the river on its right bank.

The Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, commonly referred to as the Baidyanath Dham, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India
Satsang Ashram: Distance- 1.5 Km
Satsang Ashram is a holy place where the followers of Sri Sri Thakur Anukulachandra gather to worship. The Ashram also has a zoo and a museum in its complex.
Naulakha Mandir Distance- 1.5 Km
The Naulakha Mandir is located in Deoghar, Jharkhand. Famous for the Baba Baidyanath Dham Temple, this temple is just 1.5 km from the main temple. 146 ft high, this temple is edicated to Radha-Krishna. Since its construction cost Rs. 9 lakhs, it is also known as Naulakha (Nine-Lakh) temple.
Tapovan Caves and Hills, Distance- 10Km
Located just 10 km from Deoghar, this place has a temple of Shiva called Taponath Mahadeva and a number of caves are also present there.
Trikut Pahar: Distance 16 Km
Trikut Pahar is one of the most exciting tourist destination in Deoghar, where you can enjoy Trekking, Ropeway, Wildlife Adventures and a safe natural retreat. It is also a popular picnic spot and a place for Pilgrimage. In dense forest on the uphill lies the famous Trikutachal Mahadeva Temple and the hermitage of Sage Dayananda. Ropeway – 140/Head

Visiting Deogarh was my longest drive in my home state. It is situated 270kms from Bhubaneswar with a platter full of tourist destinations. I drove through Mundali, Athagarah and Anugul state highway which didn’t disappointed me at all. The road condition was so good that while returning I drove continuously with only a tea break from Deogarh to Bhubaneswar. The tourists places to visit in Deogarh are as follows:
1. Raja Bati: Where the current king of Deogarh is residing
2. Kurudkut Waterfall: This unknown waterfall is flowing deep inside dense forest. Though a small one but is well placed in amidst natural beauty of jungle. Govt has plan of a Hydro Electric Power Project on this waterfall.
A decent off-road leads to the parking area of this falls post which you have to walk 1.5 kms see this waterfall. Due to lack of promotion people are not aware of this place but it has got all potential to catch up tourism.
3. Pradhanpat Waterfall: This cascade waterfall comes within the periphery of Debagada. This is a perineal falls surrounded by hills and dense forest. Pradhanpat waterfall is also a famous picnic spots which attracts tourists in huge numbers round the year. The water falling is just like spraying someone from top. I was happy to see this place has been maintained well with nice resting area, small bridges, a temple etc.
4. Biju Pattnaik Park: Near to Pradhanpat water park there is a big and well maintained park with children play area, gymnasium equipment installed and many statues of various animal species.
5. Chikini Ghat Valley: This comes in out skirts of Deogarh town while traveling towards Riamal. Chikini Ghat valley offers some thrilling corners with a beautiful view point of entire Deogarh town situated in Phulapatharakhola ,NH200.
6. Olti Bargad/The ‟Olata Bata‟: Is a giant banyan tree located in the Purunagada part of the town greets the visitor on entry to Deogarh Town from Sambalpur side. The inverted leaves of this tree bear religious sanctity and are considered a strange botanical phenomenon.
The other destinations are Gohira Dam, Daragadi Stream, Sri Jagannath Temple, Jhadeswar Temple, Deojharan Fall, Kailash Palace etc.
