Le lac Fwa, est un lac de la République démocratique du Congo situé dans le district de la Lulua, à l’Est de Kananga. Il se situe à 41 kilomètres du lac Munkamba. Le lac Fwa est de petite taille mais c'est un des plus beau lac du Congo

Le lac - Fwa - est plutôt un fleuve (court) plutôt qu'un lac. Il est alimenté par 6 exsurgences - ((Géologie) Endroit où un réseau hydrographique souterrain sort du sous-sol.) - et et qui se jette dans la rivière Lubi, un affluent du Sankuru, affluent majeur du Kasaï (drainage du Congo).

Bien qu'il soit situé dans une savane sèche ou une zone boisée mixte, les rives du fleuve sont fortement végétalisées.

- La largeur, de quelques dizaines à plus de 100 mètres.
- La profondeur de 2 à 8 mètres bien que pour certaines sources les plus profondes, la profondeur va jusqu'à 22 mètres).

Les berges des rivières sont bien définies mais difficiles à approcher en raison des rochers, de la végétation dense du rivage, des racines, des arbres et d'autres débris.
Le fond de la rivière se compose principalement de gravier et de sable blanc et fin,
alternant avec des tronçons pavés d' énormes rochers et de peuplements denses de plantes aquatiques (principalement Vallisneria aethiopica), voire d’îles végétales.

The lake - Fwa - is rather a river (short) rather than a lake. It is fed by 6 exsurgences - ((Geology) where a subterranean river system exits from the subsoil) - and flows into the Lubi River, a tributary of the Sankuru, a major tributary of the Kasai (Congo drainage).

Although it is located in a dry savannah or a mixed wooded area, the banks of the river are heavily vegetated.

- The size, from a few tens to more than 100 meters.
- Depth of 2 to 8 meters although for some deepest sources, the depth goes up to 22 meters).

The banks of the rivers are well defined but difficult to approach due to rocks, dense shoreline vegetation, roots, trees and other debris.
The bottom of the river consists mainly of gravel and fine white sand,
Alternating with paved stretches of enormous rocks and dense stands of aquatic plants (mainly Vallisneria aethiopica), or even vegetable islands.

L'eau est très nette, Schupke (1994) donne les paramètres suivants: ph 8.07, conductivité 310 μS / cm, dureté carbonate 7.2 ° dH, dureté totale 7.4 ° dH, sodium 13 mg / l, potassium 2.1 mg / l, calcium 28 Mg / l, magnésium 15 mg / l, fer 0,043 mg / l, nitrate 1,6 mg / l, chlorure 18 mg / l, sulfate 9 mg / 1, phosphate 0,07 mg / 1, hydrogénocarbonate 156 mg / l.
21 espèces de non-cichlidés sont enregistrées de la Fwa, la plupart d'entre elles répandues dans le bassin du Congo. En revanche, cinq des six espèces de cichlidés sont endémiques, les espèces exceptionnelles est Hemichromis cf. elongatus .
