The Dark Side of Living in The Netherlands

What are the downsides of living in the Netherlands? There is a wide variety of advantages that come along with relocating to the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a country that has a lot to offer everybody, whether they are searching for a higher standard of life, more work prospects, or a location to live that is cheaper. Let's not sugarcoat things and have an honest conversation about some of the challenges you could face if you decide to relocate to the Netherlands.
1. It’s an expensive country
The Netherlands is well-known for having some of the highest tax rates in the world, and almost everything is subject to taxation. The income tax is particularly high in contrast to those of other countries in Europe. You could also discover that the prices of electronic goods are higher in the Netherlands (here's a pro tip: shop on the German Amazon), and that the prices of some foods are also a little bit more. On the other hand, it is possible to acquire some excellent prices if you have learned how to shop and where to shop. The relationship between supply and demand is to blame for the typically high cost of rent throughout the whole of the United States. Jobs, in general, pay very well here; yet, in the end, it all comes down to how you look at it.
2. You have to learn a new language
Even though most Dutch people are aware of this fact, conversational English is not sufficient. You are going to need to educate yourself in Dutch since the majority of the labels, notices, goods, and parcels are all in Dutch. You are going to have to utilize Google Translate whenever you go to public locations like the grocery or railway stations until you master the local language.
It is well known that the service sector in the Netherlands is notorious for being less helpful and more difficult to navigate than in other nations. Even if someone has been downright impolite to us extremely seldom, the Dutch aren't exactly famed for their ability to provide good customer service.
You are either going to have to wait an eternity to speak to the manager, you are going to be in a line of 25 people on the phone, or you are going to have to wait weeks for a response to an email. Not to mention the level of frustration that a good number of individuals experience whenever they are confronted with tasks such as receiving mail or shipments.
3. Accommodation
Insane housing shortages are plaguing the Netherlands at the moment. As a result, it is essential to do apartment hunting in advance of relocating to this location for permanent residence. There are both furnished and unfurnished apartments available to choose. The furnished homes come with very huge rent prices. When you rent a property that isn't equipped, you may think you're getting a good deal, but in reality, you have to buy everything, even rugs and appliances that are necessary. In addition, property owners are reaping the benefits of the housing shortage by charging their renters unreasonable prices.
Due to the unfortunate state of affairs in the housing market in the Netherlands, it is essential that you begin your search for a new place to call home at the earliest possible date. Bear in mind that there are no assurances that you will locate a location right away; yet, you should not give up hope!
If you want to live in Amsterdam or one of the other cities in the Randstad, you need be extremely patient in your hunt for a new house, and you should prepare for a little bit of more wiggle space in your budget.

TOP 10 Things to do in Utrecht, Netherlands 2023!

TOP 10 Things to do in Utrecht, Netherlands 2023!

Utrecht, Netherlands is an amazing place to visit in Netherlands. If you want to know top 10 what to do in Utrecht or you need a travel guide, please keep watching.

5. Visit Museum Speelklok
One of the more unusual of Utrecht's most popular tourist attractions is Museum Speelklok - or Musical Clock Museum in English - dedicated to music boxes, barrel organs, and other devices and instruments capable of playing music without human involvement (other than switching them on or cranking their handles). The museum was established in 1956, and its displays - many of them hands-on and interactive - include mechanical musical instruments from the 18th century to the present day, as well as domestic instruments, from tiny music boxes to massive fair organs, most of which can still be played.

4. Enjoy a Train Ride at the Railway Museum
Located in the old Maliebaan train station, Utrecht's Railway Museum (Spoorwegmuseum) is the country's national railway museum and is a must-see for train buffs. Founded in 1927, highlights of this large, well-stocked tourist attraction include a cross-section of the country's transit history, particularly its railroads and tram systems, with plenty of models and old vehicles to enjoy along the way.
Exhibits deal with the early years of railways, including its heyday of the 1900s, and an operational workshop.

3. The Kaiser's House
The picturesque little town of Doorn is the last home of Germany's Kaiser Wilhelm II, Huis Doorn (known in English as Doorn Manor). Forced into exile after defeat in WWI, the Kaiser purchased Huis Doorn in 1920 and lived there until he died in 1941 at age 82 (he's buried in a mausoleum on the grounds). Originally a medieval castle, the house was rebuilt in the Classical style in the 18th century, with only minor alterations since.
Set in a large and beautiful park, the house opened to the public as a museum in 1956 and has been preserved exactly as it was in the Kaiser's day, right down to the original furniture and furnishings, the Kaiser's possessions (including a collection of snuff-boxes belonging to Frederick the Great), uniforms, photos, and paintings.

2. Rietveld Schröder House
Considered so important a piece of architecture that UNESCO has deemed it a World Heritage Site, the stunning Rietveld Schröder House (Rietveld Schröderhuis) is a must-see for design buffs. Designed and constructed in the early 1920s by leading Dutch architect (and Utrecht resident) Gerrit Rietveld for a widower friend and her family, this attractive small home was decades ahead of its time in so many ways.
For example, the lower living area was created with retracting walls, a clever trick created by Rietveld - a leading member of the influential De Stijl design movement - that enabled family members to shut themselves off at night for privacy, yet served as a large communal space by day.

1. Utrecht University Botanic Gardens
A fun diversion for those with green thumbs - or those who simply enjoy lovely green spaces and gardens - involves paying a visit to the Utrecht University Botanic Gardens. Centered around the old abandoned Fort Hoofddijk, this delightful 22-acre site, while a relatively new creation (it was laid out in the late 20th century), can trace its roots back to the early days of the university in the 17th century.
All told there are six unique gardens to explore. Favorites include the Birders Den (no surprise, it's popular with bird-watchers), and the Bee Hotel with its diverse array of pollinating insects. The tropical greenhouses are also worth exploring.

How it's made:
A Logitech C905 webcam was mounted on the dashboard, connected to an old laptop running VLC which was taking a picture every 2-3 seconds. GPS data were recorded by a Nokia phone running TTGPSLogger. After all ~21000 pictures were taken, the time and speed were placed in the photos. Then, using FFmpeg, the images were turned into a video, and then some boring parts were speed up and some exciting parts slowed down.

Taking a ride from Utrecht Centraal to Bilthoven, The Netherlands | 4K

Utrecht is the fourth-largest city of the Netherlands and is located in the very centre of mainland Netherlands. Utrecht is host to Utrecht University, the largest university in the Netherlands, as well as several other institutions of higher education. Due to its central position within the country, it is an important transport hub for both rail and road transport; it contains the busiest train station in the Netherlands, Utrecht Centraal.

Utrecht, Netherlands Walking tour 4K. September 29, 2022.
Utrecht is the capital of the province of the same name in the Netherlands. Its beautiful, lively, ancient center is surrounded by 13th-century two-tiered canals - unique in the whole of Holland.
At one time he was part of various kingdoms and empires and remembers many important historical events. This was reflected in its external appearance - narrow winding streets paved with stone, picturesque houses built in different styles, temples dating from different centuries. And all this diversity of ancient architecture is successfully combined with the modern buildings of the eternally young city, in which one of the largest universities in the Netherlands is located.
