Danli, El Paraíso, Honduras
Danli, es una linda y tranquila ciudad hondureña rodeada de las verdes colinas de la Sierra de Dipilto, la montaña de Agua Fría y el fértil Valle de Jamastran. Esta privilegiada posición geográfica es la que le hace merecer el nombre de «Ciudad de Las Colinas».
La ciudad de Danli esta ubicada en el extremo Oriental de Honduras, a 92 kilómetros de la ciudad de
Tegucigalpa, y es el municipio numero 3 de los 19 que forman el departamento de El Paraíso.
Su extensión territorial es de 2,536.9 km2, tiene una población aproximada de 190,049 habitantes y su territorio esta dividido en 36 Aldeas y 652 Caseríos.
Aldeas y Caserios de Danli.
Su nombre en lengua indígena significa «Agua de arena» y su feria patronal es celebrada del 21 al 23 de Agosto con su tradicional Festival del Maíz y el 20 de Enero día de San Sebastian.
Actividad Económica: Se deriva principalmente de la agricultura por poseer grandes y fértiles Valles donde se cultivan granos básicos y hortalizas. Cambien la ganadería, el comercio y en menor escala el turismo es fuente de ingreso de los Danlidenses.
Infraestructura: La ciudad de Danli cuenta con todos los servicios básicos de agua potable, energía eléctrica, televisión por cable, internet, etc. Cuenta con 228 escuelas, 92 jardines de niños, 23 centros de estudio básico, 15 centros de educación secundaria, una Escuela Normal, 2 Universidades Publicas y varias privadas.
También posee farmacias, ferreterías, hoteles, bancos, cooperativas, centros comerciales, restaurantes y comedores típicos, un hospital Regional, varios centros de salud y clínicas medicas privadas, un centro de Rehabilitación y laboratorios clínicos e iglesias de distintas denominaciones religiosas.
Cuenta con carretera pavimentada en buen estado que la comunica con el resto de ciudades del país y a través de la Carretera Panamericana hacia el Sur de la ciudad se comunica fácilmente con la República de Nicaragua, cuya frontera esta ubicada a 35 kilómetros.

Al Norte: Municipios de Juticalpa y Patuca (Olancho)
Al Sur: Municipio de El Paraiso y la República de Nicaragua
Al Este: Municipio de Trojes (El Paraiso) y Nicaragua
Al Oeste: Municipios de Jacaleapa, Teupasenti y San Matias
Historia de Danli
Datos históricos revelan que la bella ciudad de Las Colinas fue fundada por el Padre Franciscano Fernando Espino en 1667 con el nombre de San Buenaventura. Sitio donde construyo una iglesia para catequizar a los indígenas de la región. Poco tiempo después, bautizo la comunidad con el nombre de Danli.
En el manuscrito de 1690 y 1691 de Don Bartolome de Escoto, da cuenta a la Corona Española que en la Villa de Danli estaba compuesta por una iglesia, cuatro casas de paja y varias estanzuelas de ganado.
En 1791, Danli aparece como cabecera del Curato.
En 1794, su territorio fue delimitado.
El 20 de Septiembre de 1820 fue nombrada Municipio
En 1825, durante la división territorial realizada ese año Danli aparece como parroquia del Partido de Olancho.
El 12 de Abril de 1843 Danli recibió el titulo de ciudad
En 1869, al crearse el departamento de El Paraido Danli paso a formar parte de este
El primer Alcalde del Municipio de Danli fue Don Vicente Ferrer Idiaquez, Teniente de Milicias.

Honduras has historically held a reputation for being one of the most dangerous countries to travel to in the Americas. However, in recent years, a lot has changed. Is Honduras still the violent, corrupt country it used to be? We decided to see for ourselves.
As part of the Pan-American road trip, which started in Canada, Honduras would be the 6th country for the truck. Initially planning to spend a few weeks on our way to Nicaragua, a change of plans would force us to loop around the country, going from the northern border to the Caribbean coast, the southern border, and all the way to the Pacific.

If you're planning on travelling to Honduras you can definitely make a much more streamlined and optimized trip, for us, it was sort of thrown in our lap and we went with it. Overlanding in general is tough in this country, and camping is almost non-existent. But the coffee is good, the people are kind, and there is ample opportunity for some off-road action and wildlife spotting.
