I admit to having a bias about Melbourne as I was born here and spent the first 11 years of my life in the City. I visit often and know the city like the back of my hand (although I do admit to having a hard time keeping up with the many changes in Melbourne over the years).

Where to Find the Best Autumn Leaves in Melbourne and Victoria
In this video I will show you some of the best places to see the autumn colours in Melbourne and Victoria Australia. From the beautiful autumn colours of Alfred Nicholas Gardens at Mount Dandenong to the stunning Mt Macedon to the gorgeous autumn colours in Bright Victoria. Some of these places make for some of top day trips from Melbourne. The best time of year is around mid-April to mid-May although this can vary a bit depending on the year and the actual tree.
The first part of the video I show some of Melbourne’s best parks and gardens to find the autumn leaves. From the Fitzroy Gardens, Carlton Gardens all the way through Kings Domain and probably the best place to see these autumn colours in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne.
The colours get better outside of the city. One of the most popular places to see autumn leaves in Melbourne is at Mount Dandenong. They have amazing autumn colours. The best gardens to visit there are the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens, Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens, CloudeHill Gardens and the George Tindale Memorial Gardens (Sherbrooke).
Mount Macedon is another place to see beautiful autumn leaves in Victoria and easy day trip from Melbourne. Here you can find the Avenue of Honour where the oak trees look amazing with their autumn leaves. Further up the mountain are some of Melbourne’s most beautiful gardens particular in autumn. The 1st are the Gardens of Tieve Tara, their autumn colours look so pretty around the lake. But for even more beautiful autumn leaves the Forest Glade Gardens must rate as one of the best places to see the colours in Australia.
Other great places to visit in autumn include Ballarat and Walhalla. But for me for the best autumn leaves in Victoria, Bright must be on your list. The whole town looks gorgeous with the autumn colours. At the end of April, annually they hold an autumn festival which is just a fantastic time to visit Bright.
