Today is Damavand National day (روز ملی دماوند) so we decided to publish this beautiful 4k video of Damavand trekking tour here.
Join us in this video, which was recorded in 2019 (before the Covid epidemic) by the content production team of Iran Exploration, to see the wonders of Damavand Peak Iran in and the highest volcanic peak of Asia and a symbol of Iran's stability with a height of 5610 meters.
Damavand Mountain, which is located in Iran, has more than 16 main and secondary routes for climbing.
The simplest and most normal of these routes are the south and northeast routes. To reach the beginning of these routes, you must drive 70 km from Tehran to the Caspian Sea by Haraz road in Mazandaran province.
The actual and recorded height of Damavand Mountain is 5610 meters (5609.2), which has made it the highest peak in Iran and the highest volcano in Asia.
This volcanic mountain is semi-dormant lacks magma and lava. But at an altitude of 5500 meters in Mt.Damavand, there are several chimneys in which volcanic sulfur gases come out.

My father and I had this crazy idea of climbing the highest mountain in the Middle East: the volcano of Mount Damavand in Iran (5,671m). Why not? That's what we thought. Upon arrival we immediately noticed the beauty of this wonderful country and it's people.
We started our trip in Isfahan, the cultural capital of Iran. After a few days of getting used to our surroundings we headed to the Lar National Park to start our expedition. The climb took a total of 4 days, with (in our opinion) little time for acclimatization. Nevertheless, all 8 people in our group made it to the summit.
Iran is a beautiful place and I can only recommend you to travel to this country. The hospitality of the people you come across will leave you impressed.

Mount Damavand 5671 meter, a dormant volcano, located in middle Alborz Range with 5671m elevation is the highest point in Iran (Persia) and is the highest peak in Middle East. The mountain is located near the southern coast of the Caspian Sea, 66 km northeast of Tehran. It is clearly visible from Tehran. The nearest major town to Mount Damavand is city of Larijan, famous for its hot springs. Damavand, a mountain in northern Iran, which is the highest mountain in Iran and the highest volcanic peak in Asia. As far as I can tell, the land of Iran has many mountains and peaks that have risen in place of the land.
Damavand mountain is located in the central part of Alborz mountain range and in the south of Caspian Sea and in Larijan part of Amol city. Damavand mountain is located in Mazandaran province in terms of country divisions, which can be seen from the cities of Tehran, Varamin, Qom and the Caspian coast when the weather is clear and sunny. This volcanic peak erupted 38,500 years ago for the last time and it may happen again. The mouth diameter of Damavand Peak is covered with ice and reaches 400 meters.
The National Geosciences Database of Iran and the website of NASA Earth Observatory have mentioned the altitude of 5670 meters and 5671 meters for this mountain. The relative height of Damavand is about 4661 meters, which makes Damavand the twelfth highest peak in the world in terms of relative height. Damavand Mountain was registered as the first natural monument of Iran in the list of national monuments of our country on July 21, 2008. It is worth mentioning that this mountain was included in the list of four valuable regions in terms of environmental protection in 2002 as a national natural monument. Tourists touring Tehran can easily reach the summit via Haraz Road.

Mount Damavand Iran, Sulfur Deposits & Vents
While hiking to Mount Damavand, you will meet Sulfur Deposits & Vents on the 5400 m and above to the summit.
Always remember to avoid hand or glove contact with your face (especially your eyes) in the sulfur area of Damavand peak.
These vents which emitted SO2-rich gases at a temperature of about 50°C are in the southern flank, but because of the wind, they turn around the summit and make difficult conditions for climbers.
To solve this, we turn to the eastern flank and climbing Damavand without feeling the sulfur smoke.
