THE BEST DAY TRIPS FROM DUSSELDORF, GERMANY

I’ve just come back from travelling around Germany for 10 days and one of my favourite spots was Dusseldorf.

I have to admit I’m not the best at geography sometimes, but when I arrived in the city I quickly discovered there were some great day trips from Dusseldorf, all just a short train ride away.

I’d heard of Cologne, Dortmund and Essen but I never realised they were so close together. That meant as soon as I arrived in Düsseldorf I wanted to explore all North Rhine-Westphalia had to offer. (That’s the name of the region where you’ll find all of these places by the way!)

Throw in some crazy industrial landscapes like Zeche Zollverein and Duisburg Landschaftspark (just wait until you see the photos) and you’ve got the making of a fantastic few days in and around Dusseldorf.

As always, please share, like, comment, and most importantly subscribe for more videos like this one!

Top Sightseeing Spots Duesseldorf: Waterfront - Rheinuferpromenade (english)

The Rhine embankment promenade is one of the most beautiful places in Düsseldorf. In warm summer weather, thousands of people stroll along the Rhine, sit at the Kasematten, on the stairs on Burgplatz or sunbath on the meadow next to the Apollo Varieté Theatre.

It was not until 1995 that the Duesseldorf Rhine Promenade was inaugurated. Before there was instead of the underlying Rheinufertunnel at this point a busy main road. Today, the approximately 1.5-kilometer-long promenade serves as one of the tourist attractions par excellence. From here you can photograph landmarks such as the Rhine Tower, the state parliament, St. Lambertus Church or the Castle Tower (Schlossturm).

The direct neighborhood to the Old Town invites for a walk. And in the casemates you can enjoy the sunset.

The Rhine promenade is divided into two parts. At the top, plane trees provide shade, there are benches, and on the central strip under the trees play the Duesseldorf locals boules on the weekend.

Downstairs, you can walk right along the Rhine, book a boat trip across the river, eat and drink something. The stairs at the Castle Tower are full of sunbathing people when the weather is good. Sometimes someone has a guitar on hand or street artists perform.

Videoguide Düsseldorf:

On our channel we present the top Sightseeing spots and top events in Dusseldorf. These are both, the tourist highlights, which you should not be missing in any city tour or city trip, but also the small hidden insider tips that only the locals know. We show urban art, museums, architecture, street partys, parks, Shopping opportunities and monuments. We show you where there are concerts, and where are the best sports events. We show what is worth seeing in Dusseldorf. With videos, it is much easier to see whether a sight is really worth a visit, or rather not. We refrain from restaurant tips, as there are already many food blogs about Dusseldorf. And, to be honest, we have so many good restaurants, bars and cafes in Düsseldorf - even as locals we would not know where to start.

More infos and more videos of sightseeing spots and yearly events you'll find on our website

Places to see in ( Dusseldorf - Germany )

Düsseldorf is a city in western Germany known for its fashion industry and art scene. It's divided by the Rhine River, with its Altstadt (Old Town) on the east bank and modern commercial areas to the west. In the Altstadt, St. Lambertus Church and Schlossturm (Castle Tower) both date to the 13th century. Streets such as Königsallee and Schadowstrasse are lined with boutique shops.

Düsseldorf impresses with boundary-pushing architecture, zinging nightlife and an art scene to rival many higher-profile cities. It’s a posh and modern city that seems all buttoned-up business at first glance: banking, advertising, fashion and telecommunications are among the fields that have made North Rhine–Westphalia's capital one of Germany’s wealthiest cities. Yet all it takes is a few hours of bar-hopping around the Altstadt (the historical quarter along the Rhine) to realise that locals have no problem letting their hair down once they shed those Armani jackets.

The Altstadt claims fame as the ‘longest bar in the world’ but some focus has moved to Medienhafen, a redeveloped harbour area home to international avant-garde architecture. Older neighbourhoods are also evolving, including the now-hip Flingern and the vibrantly creative Unterbilk, especially along Lorettostrasse. And the new underground Wehrhahn line's six stations are an eye-catching blend of architecture, design and art.

Düsseldorf is one of the economic centers of Germany and is located along the River Rhine in the densely populated Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan area, with a population of 593,682 (31 December 2012). The city is famous for its nightlife, carnival, events, shopping and for fashion and trade fairs like the Boot Messe (one of the world's best trade fairs for boats and watersports) and Igedo (world leader in fashion). Every year, more than 4 million people visit the Kirmes fun fair which runs for 9 days in the summer.

Best Shopping Street in Düsseldorf Germany! 4K Walk With Captions!

Walking around in Düsseldorf city in Western Germany, along the city‘s best shopping streets Schadowstraße and Königsallee on a warm day in September 2021. Starting at Schadowstraße then heading to the KÖ-Bogen II area, which features Europe's largest green facade, with a short visit to the famous Königsallee & KÖ-Graben before heading back. Schadowstraße is a shopping street in Düsseldorf, and one of the busiest in Germany. It was named in 1851 after the painter Wilhelm von Schadow, who founded the Düsseldorf School of Painting in 1826 through his teaching activities as director of the Düsseldorf Art Academy. The Königsallee is a grand boulevard in Düsseldorf, a flagship and a place of longing for international fashionistas, it is one of the greatest places to shop in Europe. Just like jewels in a crown, the elegant flagship stores all compete to see who glitters the most: Prada, Gucci, Hermès, Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton. Turn on the closed captions (CC) to see subtitles with background information about the city & the area.

This 4K walking tour was recorded with high definition binaural audio.

One of the Best Cities in Western Germany! Düsseldorf - 4K Video With Captions

Düsseldorf in the Western part of Germany is a city that basically has it all, including its own beers! It's also a regional hub for banking, advertising, fashion and knows how to have a lot of fun because Düsseldorf offers an amazing nightlife and an incredible amount of cultural variety. Here I am walking around the luxurious and well-known shopping street Königsallee or simply KÖ to the Schadowstraße on a warm spring day in April 2022. Düsseldorf also houses the largest Japanese community in Germany. More than 8,000 Japanese people live in the state capital and characterise the vibrant Little Tokyo at the Immermannstraße. Locals, business people, manga fans, otakus and food lovers from all over the world come together here to enjoy Ramen noodle soup, sushi, sake and Altbier. Turn on the closed captions (CC) to see subtitles with background information about the city & the area.

This 4K walking tour was recorded with high definition binaural audio.
