Tulancingo, Hidalgo, Mexico, A Pueblo With Flavor and Pyramids #tulancingo #mexico #pedrozatravel

Today we are going to travel to Tulancingo. In Mexico you might have heard of the Pueblo Magicos , but Tulancingo is known as a Pueblo Con Sabor, they get this designation for their specialty sandwich called the Quajalote, which means turkey, but there is no turkey in this sandwich. Come along for this adventure as we learn about the quajalote, explore some churches, and finish off in Huapacalco. Huapacalco is home to the oldest objects ever found in the Americas, it is also said to have been the home of Quezalcoatl before he became king of Tula.

Update: The Mexican government has taken interest in Huapalcalco and now it has been declared an official archeological zone and will be preserved:

Where to find the BEST Fish Tacos in Mexico City

Subscribe to the Channel!

I spent 3 weeks in Mexico City hunting for the best tacos. This involved eating a lot of meat, tacos Al Pastor in particular. But sometimes you need to switch things up....so I stumbled across some Fish Taquerias in CDMX. Now some people may not think that Mexico City is the place for fish tacos, but it's only 4 hours from the sea. So Fish Tacos in CDMX are actually very fresh and delicious if you find the right places to have them. Here I highlight a few gems I came across for Fish Tacos: El Patan, El Pescadito, El Parnita and Contramar. Also during this journey sometimes you find out the best fish tacos, are the ones made at home with love. Ultimately - searching for the best tacos is a lot like dating, and with trying to find the right one...you run into a lot of interesting ones you may want to try out, but maybe they're not the right person or taco for you. So this is like the taco chronicles of dating...or dating chronicles of tacos.

Tacos EL Patan is like the guy you don’t want your parents to know you went out on a date with. It’s not in the best neighbourhood down in the Centro Histórico’s market district, you walk down a dark alley and the red hue from their canopy makes you feel like you’re in a seedy rub and tug. If you can get past all that, you will be rewarded with some of the best fish tacos in Mexico City.

On the grill, sealed in tin foil is a huge Mexican Sierra fish which is a relative to the Mackerel, basking in pico de gallo, chili oil and mayonnaise. They open the foil and you get a smell of this grilled fish and they flake off the fish and serve it on a warm flower tortilla.

The best part are the unexpected extras on the menu which is why we’re attracted to the bad boy type anyways. Here it’s their prawn brochette and their prawn soup…which is nectar of the gods - and If you don’t like shrimp heads that’s ok we can still be friends because you can give me all yours.

El Pescadito is you’re all around favourite guy - except in tacos. They are the Mr. Popular in high-school offer you some of the most beloved and famous fish tacos in Mexico City.
You know exactly what you’re going to get at this Sonoran-style taqueria and it’s consistently good every time whether it’s the shrimp, marlin, fish or you spice things up with the marlin stuffed chilli taco - this is their signature taco called the quesotote chili stuffed with shrimp and cheese.
There’s always a queue, just about everyone living in Mexico City has enjoyed these most popular tacos at El Pescadito you leave satisfied and know he’ll wait for you should you decide to ever visit him again. But don’t wait too long because someone else will marry him if you don’t. But at least you make everyone happy you went there and gave it a shot.

My introduction to El Partnita came from Gastronautadf a well known CDMX food blogger. El Parnita is where all the hipsters, successful artsy types, celebrities, food blogger following foodies, influencers, older shaggy haired folks with funky eyewear rim don’t mind to mingle on the sidewalks of the cool and popular Roma neighbourhood in Mexico City while they wait for a table to open up.
I came here for their Parnita taco which is their pulled pork, purple onion and avocado taco served on a blue corn tortilla. Definitely try this popular taco but if you love seafood, then go for their Carmelita taco which is their breaded shrimp taco. Also their Huerfano taco which is also shrimp taco with a slather of refried beans. When I really love a place, I go there 3 times. Coming here 3 times for tacos was a no-brainer. On my 3rd visit they had soft-shell tacos (jaiba suave) which is a seasonal item - when you’re presented with something tantalizing like soft-shell crab at a place that serves some of the best tacos in Mexico City - you say yes.
