A day in Janitzio Island & Pátzcuaro in Michoacán | MEXICO | Ep. 24
Hola amigos! I have moved from Mexico City to Michoácan. In this episode, I will show you how I spend a day in Janitzio Island & Pátzcuaro.
When I do my research, I found that most of the videos talk about the above places are in Spanish. They seem to be popular for domestic travelers only. If you do slow travel like me, it's great to have a chill day there. When traveling becomes daily life, sometimes it is a little stressful.
In order to go to Janitzio Island, I first took a one-hour bus to Pátzcuaro from Morelia. Then, I arrived at the Pátzcuaro pier. Finally, I reached Janitzio Island by boat.
A statue of José Maria Morelos, a great hero of Mexico's independence, is found on the island's highest point. Inside the statue, it has murals to tell the stories about him.
Without any plan, I passed by a local event. People were eating tamales and collecting bamboo.
Before heading back to Morelia, I walked around the downtown in Pátzcuaro, one of the magical towns. It looks very different and unique.

El Día de Muertos en Michoacán - México
El Día de Muertos en México tiene su origen en la creencia de nuestros pueblos originarios sobre la vida después de la muerte. Los mayas, aztecas, huastecos y purépechas, todos sin excepción tenían su propia cosmovisión en la que la muerte ocupaba un lugar esencial.
La muerte tiene un significado diferente para cada cultura y país en el mundo. Por la herencia de nuestros ancestros, en México hay fiesta, mucha comida y baile.
El 1 y 2 de noviembre, son los días oficiales el Día de Muertos. Festejar la vida de quienes ya no están con nosotros. Por eso fuimos, al seno de la cultura purépecha en Michoacán, para disfrutar de las ofrendas, la música, y la nostalgia con la que cada año se recuerda a nuestros difuntos.
Para sentir la esencia más pura de la celebración del Días de los Muertos, nos alejamos de Morelia para dirigirnos a los pueblos, que viven a la orilla del Lago de Pátzcuaro, donde, desde hace cientos de años, se ha asentado la cultura Purépecha.

Dia de Muertos in Michoacan Mexico has been on our bucket list for years and this year 2022 it finally happened! We visited the island of Janitzio, and the cities of Patzcuaro & Morelia to experience the Dia de Muertos celebrations. Dia de Muertos in Michoacan is also known as Noche de Muertos o Noche de las Ánimas because the most sacred part of the tradition occurs during the late of night November 1st into the early morning of November 2nd.
The Purepecha community is known around the world for their Dia de Muertos celebrations in Michoacan and we are lucky to have been able to witness it. The experience came with all kinds of emotions, both happy and infuriating ones. But let's focus on the light of things... we'll talk about the bad stuff in a next video.

????????Welcome to another Mexico Travel video and the second of two videos from the amazing and beautiful TAXCO, MEXICO. This is another edition of my 'Let's Walk Around Series. Taxco is located in Guerrero state, about 2.5hrs bus ride south of Ciudad de Mexico. It's another Pueblo Magico (Magic Town), with a Zocalo, great shopping (including silver) and best of all, spectacular views!
In this video (and the last one) I visit the Zocalo, Parroquia de Santa Prisca y San Sebastían (Church), local markets, Mina Prehispánica de Taxco (Silver mine beneath a hotel) and Teleferico Taxco (Cable Car).
Taxco is often forgotten about in terms of a travel destination, often passed over for the more popular and tourist orientated Guanajuato. But I loved it!
