The ULTIMATE ITINERARY for 10 days in Buenos Aires
I spent one year in Argentina (plus 5 months in Buenos Aires back in 2005). Buenos Aires is one of my favorite cities in the entire world, and I want to share with you what makes it so great.
This 10 day itinerary begins on a Friday morning, and is arranged according to market schedules, or other events in the city that fall on particular days. But you can certainly do the activities out of order, and fit them to your schedule as needed.
I have planned this 10-day itinerary to allow you to maximize your days, and hours in this amazing city, but still allow you to enjoy the small moments without feeling overwhelmed, and get rest when needed.

Villa Crespo es un barrio porteño ubicado en la Comuna 15, en el centro de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Su nombre proviene del apellido del intendente municipal Dr. Antonio F. Crespo, quien apadrinó la instalación de la Fábrica Nacional de Calzado en 1888, cuya instalación, así como las casas de los que allí trabajaban dio origen al barrio. La zona se hallaba entre la actual Avenida Raúl Scalabrini Ortiz (ex Canning y originalmente Camino del Ministro Inglés), la Av. Warnes (originalmente Camino de Moreno), la Av. Corrientes (que hasta mediados de 1937 se llamó en Villa Crespo Triunvirato) y la Av. Juan B. Justo, cuya traza por aquel entonces estaba ocupada por el Arroyo Maldonado. El nombre del barrio se debe a los rematadores de esos terrenos, los que en honor al Intendente Crespo y alentados por la familia Lebrero, propietaria de los mismos, comenzaron a denominar el lugar como la Villa de Crespo, porque la subasta tenía demarcada la ubicación de la futura plaza, la estación, la seccional policial, la escuela y demás edificios que componen una villa o pueblo en formación.
Este barrio surge junto al Arroyo Maldonado, hoy entubado bajo la Avenida Juan B. Justo. Como no existían entonces los criterios ecológicos que tenemos a principios del siglo xxi, sus aguas fueron vistas como un posible drenaje de fluidos industriales, lo que provocó el asentamiento de varios establecimientos fabriles.
A raíz de la fundación de la Fábrica Nacional de Calzado el 3 de junio de 1888 la industria marroquinera tomó gran impulso. Sus obreros mayoritariamente italianos, que tenían como patrono a San Crispín, bregaron para que la nueva villa fuera denominada en su honor. Luego de un gran debate se prefirió que el Santo Patrono fuera San Bernardo en honor al padre del Gerente General de la fábrica, Don Salvador Benedit
Este facilitó materiales para la construcción de las primeras viviendas para los obreros de la fábrica. Dichas viviendas tomaron el nombre de conventillos, en las cuales convivían numerosos inmigrantes de diversos orígenes.
El aumento de la población originó un constante crecimiento comercial. Sus vecinos auto-organizados en sus instituciones, desarrollaron un alto grado de actividad social. Y desde que surgiera el Tango Orillero, con el agregado cultural de la inmigración, las expresiones artísticas y la bohemia de sus cafés, generaron un centro de espectáculos similar al de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, llegando a su esplendor en la década de 1940.
A principios de los años 60 y durante los 70, el Barrio sufrió un éxodo de vecinos que junto a la desaparición de varias de sus entidades, provocó la merma de sus actividades culturales que afectaron también al comercio. Lo cual, llevó al barrio a un estado de abandono, de considerable magnitud.
Para su centenario, a partir de 1988, un grupo de arraigados vecinos comenzaron a peticionar a las autoridades por una mejor calidad de vida y a renovar su actividad cultural. Sus logros fueron en aumento, al punto de que Villa Crespo está resurgiendo, gracias a la actividad de sus fuerzas vivas.

En el barrio de Villa Crespo existe una importante zona comercial de outlets , encontraremos 62 outlets en apenas 4 cuadras, que se convirtió en el lugar elegido por las principales marcas para instalar sus exclusivos outlets, pero que es conocido por unos pocos. A sólo cuatro cuadras de la avenida Córdoba, referencia obligada de los que eligen comprar barato, este circuito ubicado en las calles Gurruchaga y Aguirre ofrece artículos de primera calidad, con rebajas de hasta un 60%.
Pero lo que diferencia a estos outlets de otros en la Ciudad es la excelente ambientación que presentan sus locales, la buena atención de sus vendedores, y horarios de venta al público todos los días de las semana, algo inusual en este tipo de tiendas.
Además, la mayoría de los negocios usa las mismas bolsas que en sus sucursales de primera selección, y permiten realizar cambios, algo fundamental para comprar buenos regalos.
Las cuadras con más comercios son Aguirre al 700 y al 800 y Gurruchaga al 700 y al 800. Casi todas las firmas importantes de ropa, calzado o accesorios abrieron su outlet en la zona, como Cacharel, Rapsodia, Ona Sáez, Caro Cuore, Hush Puppies, Puma, Wanama, New Man, Awada, Etiqueta Negra, Akiabara, Lacoste, Prüne y Blaqué. Son tantas las marcas que quieren instalarse que los locales se expanden por más cuadras de esas calles y por Loyola al 600 y al 700, Serrano y Acevedo.
La zona comercial está en expansión: va a llegar hasta Malabia y hasta Juan B. Justo, y en algún momento se va a conectar con Palermo, que ahora se promociona el barrio como “Nuevo Villa Crespo”

MERCAT está ubicado en el corazón de Villa Crespo y tiene una impronta urbana y diseño vanguardista. Es punto de encuentro de cocineros, comensales apasionados y vecinos. El espacio de 2.700 m2 destina 3 plantas.
Street food, mangas y el primer soju bar del país: así es el nuevo “callejón asiático” oculto en Villa Crespo.
Desde principios de julio se creó en el primer piso del patio de comidas Mercat de Villa Crespo un “callejón asiático” para difundir la cultura de países como Japón y Corea. El foco está puesto en la comida callejera, pero otros aspectos como artesanías, música, manga y animé están a la orden del día.
Carteles que parecen sacados de una estación de subte de Japón dan el tono: subir por la escalera que lleva de la planta baja al primer piso de Mercat es el inicio de un viaje hacia una especie de “Disney asiático”.
