???????? CREEL, CHIHUAHUA - Is it WORTH IT? | Home of CHEPE Express Train & COPPER Canyons | Mexico Travel

???????? CREEL, CHIHUAHUA - Welcome to Part 9 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! We are continuing our journey through the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua! We’ve been to Ciudad Juárez, Parral and Chihuahua City itself, now finally making it to the Pueblo Mágico (magical town) of Creel, the gateway to las Barrancas del Cobre (Copper Canyons) on the world-famous Chepe Express train (I used ejecutiva or business class), which, with multiple stops, ends up in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. But, is it worth it?

In this video we explore the home of the Rarámuri (Tarahumari), the indigenous people in the Creel area, have some classic comida Mexicana (Mexican food) and visit the Valles de Hongos y Ranas (Valleys of the Mushrooms and Frogs), prehistoric rock formations located on Rarámuri land. Insane!

The Chepe Express is a popular aspect of Mexico tourism. As a result, Creel is a bit ‘touristy’, but that’s part of the territory. In the next video, we board the Chepe Express to see what all the fuss is about!

If you’re thinking about traveling Mexico, being an expat, or moving to Mexico, Chihuahua is another great consideration to get away from the more popular destinations such as Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende and Cancun.

Riding El Chepe in Mexico’s Copper Canyon Mexico

Riding El Chepe in Mexico’s Copper Canyon Mexico - Ferrocarril Chihuahua al Pacífico

In this video, I’d like to introduce you to the Ferrocarril Chihuahua al Pacífico, better known as El Chepe, or simply Chepe. It's the only passenger train in all of Mexico, and it's a must for any visit to this part of the country. The Copper Canyon Railway is one of the world's most incredible rail journeys and Mexico's biggest single attraction.

The Ferrocarril Chihuahua al Pacífico, also known as El Chepe from its reporting mark CHP, is a major rail line in northwest Mexico, linking Chihuahua City, to Los Mochis and its port, Topolobampo. It crosses the Sierra Madre Occidental, part of the range called the Rocky Mountains in the United States.

???????? CHIHUAHUA in 4K | Let's Walk AROUND the CITY! | Walkaround Chihuahua Centro | MEXICO TRAVEL 2022

???????? CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO - Welcome to another Mexico Travel video! This video is a combination of my regular style of travel vlog and my 4K Walkaround videos. I was in Chihuahua and Ciudad Cuauhtémoc in 2021 but my trip was cut short by illness and the time remaining on my 180 days so I'm back to explore Chihuahua in more detail, including Parral, Delicias, Creel, and Camargo.

In this video you will have 30 minute walk from outside the central area, through Centro, ending at the Angel monument, on the way highlighting some of the things to do in Chihuahua. What do you think Chihuahua is like? Is it another northern Mexico city full of modern buildings and no colonial architecture? Is it clean or dirty? Is it a place you would consider if you are an expat in Mexico or are thinking of moving to Mexico, instead of more popular locations such as Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende?

If you're thinking of traveling Mexico, or coming for a short trip or vacation, or wanting to know where to visit in Mexico in 2022, my channel is more focused (nowadays) on northern Mexico and lesser-known destinations, presented in an overly straight-forward and sarcastic style. Enjoy!

???????? CHEPE EXPRESS - An INCREDIBLE WASTE of MONEY? | Mexico's COPPER Canyons | Creel to Los Mochis

???????? BARRANCAS DEL COBRE, MEXICO - Welcome to Part 10 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series. I’ve been in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua for a month, having visited Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Parral, and most recently Creel, one of Mexico’s small Pueblo Mágico (magical town)at the gateway to the Copper Canyons (Barrancas del Cobre). After a year of recommendations, it’s time to jump on El Chepe Express - a scenic 9 train ride through the Canyons to its terminus, Los Mochis in Sinaloa. Apparently, it's one of the greatest things to do in Chihuahua. The big question is, is it INCREDIBLE or an INCREDIBLE waste of money?

I paid for clase EJECUTIVA (business class). You can check out pricing in the video and at the link below. Note that in the video I was not permitted to enter turista or primera (first) class to get any shots. Also note that you can get the train from Los Mochis too, you can stop off at each stop using the same ticket, there is also a regional train (cheaper) and it may simply be better for you to drive as you will see much more in terms of views.

4x Bigger Than the GRAND CANYON! Mexico's Copper Canyon

We came to Copper Canyon for 2 days and ended up staying for 8 instead! After leaving the town of Creel, we headed further into the canyon to a town called Areponapuchi. It was the best decision we made and I already want to come back to this sleepy little place and eat all my meals back at this hotel and hike into the hills with our tour guide Guadalupe everyday.

Song Two: Feel So Lucky by Cody Francis

ALL ABOARD EL CHEPE TRAIN | Chihuahua to Creel | Cusárare Waterfall

If El Chepe sounds unfamiliar it's probably because not many people know that there is this amazing scenic passenger train that takes you through some of the most incredible landscapes you could imagine. El Chepe is the only Passenger train in Mexico that takes you through the Barrancas del Cobre or Copper Canyon, a canyon system that is 4 times larger than the grand canyon and can reach up to 1 mile in depth at some points.

It is both a tourist and commuter train so if you just want to hop on to get from one town to the other or buy a ticket with the ability to jump off at different stops to explore the town for a few days you have options. For more info:

We went with a tourist ticket and chose Creel as our first disembarkment. We took the train 5 and a half hours south to the Pueblo Magico of Creel. This was the first of many Pueblo Magicos that we will be seeing as we journey through Mexico, and we have become huge fans of the Pueblo Magico initiative after our time in Creel.

On our first day, we check into our hotel, La Troje and then booked a tour with one of the local guides. We explore some of the more popular tourist sites in the area on our first afternoon there and ended up having a pretty heartwarming and magical time in the Pueblo Magico.

We stayed at La Troje, a highly rated but very affordable option, which ended up being a very nice place, with great rooms and amenities, personal attention from our host Guillermo, and just an overall great place to stay.
La Troje:

However, you do have to climb stairs to reach the rooms, so if that's a problem for you, there are some other options. We went to have a beer here at their restaurant and it looked nice and cozy. It also has good reviews.
BestWestern Plus:

We understand booking tours ahead of time is important for some travelers so we feel confident recommending Omar as a guide. He offered a good price and was very accommodating with our private tour. He said they can also offer tours in English but you would need to call and set that up in advance.
Omar Amador Ochoa: (+52) 635-105-2360 or (+52) 635-199-4849

Top 10 Best Places to Visit in Mexico - Travel Video

Gorgeous beaches, a delicious culinary scene, festive culture and ancient pyramids all make Mexico a popular tourist destination. Mexico is a land of color and contrasts. Crowded beaches lead into quiet colonial towns while resort cities open gateways to jungles ringing with parrots and howler monkeys. Majestic mountains descend to remote deserts. Traditional pueblo houses sit near Spanish haciendas. Ruins of Mayan cities lie excavated outside of modern metropolises. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Mexico.

CREEL TO POSADA BARRANCAS | El Chepe Train| Best Budget Hotel

El Chepe at 6:00am leaving Chihuahua is a very different train ride compared to El Chepe at 11:30am leaving Creel. We hop on El Chepe for a lively and beer-filled train ride towards our second stop. Check out the second leg of the train ride as we arrive at our midway point of Posada Barrancas.

When traveling on El Chepe south, you can choose to stop in Divisadero or Posada Barrancas, but there are not many options for hotels in Divisadero so we went with Posada Barrancas. Though there are options to stay at a canyon view hotel with panoramic views of the Barrancas del Cobre/ Copper Canyon we chose to go the budget route and found a lovely hotel with everything you need to have a great stay in Posada Barrancas.

We booked Cabanas Darely through Bookings.com and had a great stay. You can book them for yourself at the link below:
