Saarbrücken is the capital and largest city of the state of Saarland, Germany. Saarbrücken is Saarland's administrative, commercial and cultural centre. he city is situated next to the French border at the heart of the metropolitan area of Saarland. Saarbrücken was created in 1909 by the merger of three towns, Saarbrücken, St. Johann, and Malstatt-Burbach. It used to be the industrial and transport centre of the Saar coal basin. Products included iron and steel, sugar, beer, pottery, optical instruments, machinery, and construction materials.
Historic landmarks in the city include the stone bridge across the Saar (1546), the Gothic church of St. Arnual, the 18th-century Saarbrücken Castle, and the old part of the town, the Sankt Johanner Markt (Market of St. Johann). Twice in the 20th century Saarbrücken was separated from Germany: in 1920–35 as capital of the Territory of the Saar Basin and in 1947–56 as capital of the Saar Protectorate.
Some of the closest cities are Trier, Luxembourg, Nancy, Metz, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe and Mannheim. Saarbrücken is connected by the city's public transport network to the town of Sarreguemines in France, and to the neighboring town of Völklingen, where the old steel works were the first industrial monument to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994 — the Völklinger Hütte. The city is served by Saarbrücken Airport (SCN), and since June 2007 ICE high speed train services along the LGV Est line provide high speed connections to Paris from Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof. Saarbrücken's Saarbahn (modelled on the Karlsruhe model light rail) crosses the French–German border, connecting to the French city of Sarreguemines.

Highlights of the city include the old center, the Stonebridge across the river Saar, the Castle, the St. Annual Church and the Sankt Johanner Markt. Walking in KAISERSLAUTERN / Germany ????????- City Center and Japanese Garden - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Kaiserslautern / Germany is a city in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the southwest of the country. The historic center dates back to the 9th century. Today Kaiserslautern is home to about 100.000 people with additionally approximately 45.000 NATO military personnel. The military presence is a large contributing factor to the local economy.
We start our tour on this cloudy day at the Kaiserpfalz (Barbarossaburg). This former palace was a temporary seat for the roman emperor from the early and high middle ages. Nowadays a few red stones remain giving a small impression of the former glory.
On this walk we see the city centre with common shopping streets and a few churches. We walk to the Kaiserbrunnen on the eastern edge of the city center and head outwards to the Museum Pfalzgalerie.
The final part of this walk happens inside the Japanese Garden, where we take our time to check out this relaxing place.

Welche Vorurteile kennst du zu Saarbrücken? Die Stadt soll düster, traurig und eher nicht so spannend sein? ✔ Über die Hauptstadt des Saarlandes gibt es viele Vorurteile. Ich habe auch welche. Um herauszufinden, was richtig und was falsch ist, schaue ich mir selbst einige Saarbrücker Sehenswürdigkeiten an. Meine ersten Impressionen von der saarländischen Landeshauptstadt? ✔ Ich finde, Saarbrücken hat viel weniger touristische Power als Hochburgen wie Berlin, München oder Heidelberg. Logisch ist auch, dass die „Saarstadt“ mit weniger als 200.000 Einwohnern nicht mit der einen oder anderen deutschen Metropole „mithalten“ kann. Trotzdem kann ich in Saarbrücken genug Sehenswürdigkeiten finden, um einen Wochenend-Städtetrip zu füllen. ✔ Um an dieser Stelle ein paar wenige zu nennen: eine Führung durch den Saarbrücker Rathausturm, das Saarbrücker Schloss und die unterirdischen „Höhlengänge“. Bei unserem Besuch in Homburg (rund 42.000 Einwohner - Saarland) haben wir uns den Marktplatz in der Homburger Altstadt, die katholische Pfarrkirche St. Michael und die protestantische Stadtkirche angesehen. Auch das Römermuseum stand auf unserem Programm.

Wir beginnen unseren Besuch in St. Ingbert (rund 36.000 Einwohner - Saarland) in der Kaiserstrasse. Dort schauen wir uns u.a. die katholische St. Engelbert Kirche und den Bierbrunnen an. Später steht die neogotische Kirche St. Josef und die Alte Brauerei von 1810 auf unserem Programm.
