Passenger train on the recently opened freight bypass line.
After the recent opening of the North Strathfield Rail Underpass & associated track alterations, multiple special services were operated on 27 & 28 June to acquaint drivers with the route. Services operated from Flemington Car Sidings, reversing at Rhodes & around the Olympic Park Loop.
1107 hrs: Intercity set V3, heads south on the new relief line from Concord West, entering the underpass at North Strathfield.
1306 hrs: As an Aurizon intermodal freight heads north, set V3 is southbound in the new relief line.
1413 hrs: Set V3 heads back to Rhodes to reverse, before traversing the new route again.
1427 hrs: Heading south again on the new relief line.

On 05 March 2016 The Rail Motor Society operated a special service from Paterson (north of Maitland) to the Sydney Metropolitan Area to celebrate 100 years of Sydney’s Metropolitan Good Line.
The Rail Motors date from 1961!
On the forward journey to Sydney, Rail Motor 621/721 stops at Concord West on Sydney’s Northern Line to pick up passengers. The stop was on Platform 1, on the line that passes through the North Strathfeld Rail Underpass, mainly used for freight heading south/west.
0909 hrs: 621/721 arrive at Concord West platform 1.
0914 hrs: 621/721 depart, in unison with an Epping to City suburban service, which had followed the railcars into Concord West.

The locos, owned by Chicago Freight Car Leasing Australia, are all named after famous racehorses. CF4412 wears a special livery of its namesake horse's racing colours.
1159 hrs: The 1141 hrs Sydney to Grafton XPT heads north, lead by XP2002, with XP2006 trailing.

1118 hrs: NR75 in special The Ghan livery & NR119 lead Brisbane bound Pacific National Intermodal freight through Concord West.
1121 hrs: As the freight fades into the smoky distance, Oscar set H32 & H19 with the 0950hrs Interurban service ex Wyong head south towards Strathfield & Sydney Central.
