We visited the inner roads and streets of Malabon City in Metro Manila, NCR, Philippines. We passed several barangays of Malabon City from Tañong, San Agustin, Ibaba. Concepcion, Baritan, Bayan-bayanan, Hulong Duhat, Dampalit, Muzon, Catmon, Tonsuya, Niugan, and finally, Longos.

We filmed this driving tour using our iPhone 14 Pro on a 4K HDR video setting.

Cotta Port and Shrine, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental | April 2023????[HD]

Built in 1756 by Father Jose Ducos to serve as a Spanish outpost in the area, the Cotta Fort is a stone fort built along the shores of Panguil Bay which is now the Port of Ozamiz. It is rectangular in shape typical to many Spanish fortresses and has four bulwarks named as San Ignacio, San Fernando, San Jose and Santiago.

The west gate is the main gate facing the town which has an image in terracotta of Apostle St. James ( Santiago), Patron Saint of Spain. Below the image is the year 1756, the inception of the construction of the fort

A minimal entrance fee of 5.00 PHP is collected upon entering the fort. It also has a museum, which unfortunately contains nothing but old pieces of woods and a couple of paintings Sad to say, it's empty, there's nothing to see inside.

Since it's a weekend, a lot people were there enjoying some playful afternoon at the fort's huge grounds.

You can also see an old arsenal which serves as the storage of weapons during the spanish time.

As one of the four Spanish Forts built during Spain's occupation in the Philippines ( Fort San Pedro in Cebu, Fort Pilar in Zomboanga City, Fort Santiago in Manila), this is one of the must-see places when visiting Ozamiz City.

HOW TO GET THERE

The fort is located near Ozamiz City port. From the city center, you can take a leisurely walk to the fort for about 10 minutes or take tricycle and the driver can bring you there.

In our last show, we played Brasilian futebol. Now, we will visit the Philippines’ Manila Cathedral.

This magnificent structure rests in the heart of Manila which towers above you in the Intramuros as you walk through Filipino history. And if you’ve seen this beautiful church before, please share your experiences in the comments below.
Here is where the Spanish infiltrate these South-East Asian, tropical islands and they also leave behind some impressive artifacts. The most revered of these is the Manila Cathedral, which, officially, residents call the Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Founded as the Christian Church of Manila in 1571, it is governed by the Archdiocese of Mexico until 1579, when Pope Gregory XIII designates it to be a separate diocese. However, this inauguration leads to a series of phoenix-style destruction and rebuilding… But before that, we have Breaking Knews! ‘What is the word origin of ‘CATHEDRAL’? I will reveal the answer to you at the end of this video.
So, the Manila Cathedral first breaks down with its fiery demise in 1583. A stone cathedral rises above these embers in 1592, but eight years later, an earthquake crashes it down to the ground. In 1614, Filipinos construct a third, and larger cathedral, only to have it shattered by another seismic shake 31 years afterwards. Can you see how these iterations are proceeding? Now, World War II delivers yet more devastation as Japanese and USA fighters bomb the cathedral and all Manila into ruins.
Despite this adversity, the Filipino people grow even more resilient as they support their religious community, and my friend Rob elaborates…

Finally, the current, 8th Manila Cathedral is completed in 1958, which, presently, draws visitors into its vaulted chambers, from around the world, including many popes. Christmas time is a bright time to visit, as priests perform a festive series of masses called the Simbang Gabi. Throughout the year, Love abounds at the Manila Cathedral, as many couples happily share their marriage vows here. Always, you may enjoy viewing its detailed exterior facades, combined with its exquisite interior; bursting with paintings, statues, and stained glass windows.
Therefore, be sure to place the Manila Cathedral high on your itinerary during your stay in the Philippines.
Now, back to our Breaking Knews! Before we asked,! ‘What is the word origin of ‘CATHEDRAL’ ? The term originates from the Greek καθέδρα “kathédra”, meaning seat or bench.
